  1. It's gotta be Miller's every time. Use fully synthetic if your Z is low millage, if it's done more than 100,000 then Miller's semi-synthetic is a good bet.. 10-40w to 10-60w... Miller's also do some sepcific gearbox oil too...
  2. I'm really fed up of my Z going into safety boost mode! It's now always stuck in safety boost & having done a ECU flash code check today i'm getting a dreaded code 34!! Have checked all the wiring to the Det sensor & it's all ok, the only thing I have got is a dead T.P.S Throttle Position Sensor - would the cause my Z to give a code 34 and activate perminent Safty boost??? :headvswal Have tried ECU reset etc but still no joy.. I don't want to bypass the Det Sensor so is my only option to goto the hassle of stripping off the top instakes and install a new Det Sensor?? Is there such a thing as an easy way to install a new det sensor??!! Somebody please help!!
  3. Christ buddy, that's really unlucky. I'll think about you're Z next time my next door neighbours kids boot there muddy football into my Z just after i've washed her! B A S T A R D S!
  4. No seriously, i've just looked at it again! It's definetly got the front of an S12 Silvia and the backend of god know's what!! Apperently it still retain's the 1.8 Turbo CA18ET Engine too!
  5. Still the best Driving Game out there.. Shame you can't add Z Centre body kit's to our car's in the tuning shop for added realism!!
  6. Gran Turismo 4 (Playstation 2 Game) true to form - Z's even cost to much money to modify in a simulated world too! (*******s!) Check out the weird looking Nissan exa in the used cars 1980's section :mac1: . Looks like my S12 Silvia in Van form!!
  7. RX7 No good for pulling birds!! ZX much sexier, makes a better noise & you can go topless in the summer - Winner!! (Maybe that's why in Japan it's called the Fairlady!)
  8. Really sorry to hear that bud, Something similar happend to me - a water pipe to the driver's side Turbo failed due to oil in the water contamination and that caused all my water to drain from the system. On expecting my engine the head-gasket was fine but there was a hairline crack in the head itself so the cheap option was to get a recon engine fitted as a new head alone from nissan was about £1000!! Check all your water pipes though + the rad for any brown soup!!
  9. Mines a UK model and it's playing up all the time especially in wet weather!! On the way to work this morning I went from 40MPH to 190+ in .1 of a second - beat that!! Then it shot back down to 60MPH even though I was original doing 40!! No HICAS light came on though and the power steering was fine.. It's defo the speed sensor though and not the clocks!!
  10. Found out what the problem was! There we're two, two pin electrical connectors not connected to the boost sensor thingy's on the drivers side! This was obviously causing the ECU to think there was a problem with the waste gate solinoids!! She's flying again now (Well for a standard Z anyway!!) showing 0.7 Bar on my HKS guages as opposed to 0.4 which is what she was doing before!! Thank for everyone's help you're all hero's!!!
  11. Got my Z when I was 25 - insurance with elephant.co.uk was around £600 fully comp, - I'm now 28 and pay about £460!! Bargain!! 10,000 miles S.D.P Best of luck dude...
  12. Hi all! Finally got my Z back with a new (recon) engine after 6 Months!! :hyper: It a UK manuall TT.. Having let the engine bed in after 2 weeks driving off boost it was finally time to give the old girl a kane!! All though this engine seems stonger than my last on it's only boosting at 0.4 bar as opposed to 0.6 bar which is what my old engine used too  ... This new engine as had all new electrical connectors fitted, new injectors - plugs etc and also when the car gets up to temprature the interior fans speed up indicating that everything is fine for full boost!! If my old engine ever entered safety boost you could always tell because when the car got up to temp the interior fans (Air con) would stay slow! Is there any quick fix I can do to cure this problem to stop it going into safety boost??!!! Oh I have a new T.P.U on order because the contact's on the wiring loom to it arn't that great - could that be the cause of the problem??!! The internal dash boost dash guage still needs connecting up! Many thanks to anyone that can help me!! UK manual TT, Blitz Air filter, Zorts, running standard boost, HKS boost guages
  13. Thanks once again guys for all your help!
  14. Can anyone help, does anyone know where I can get a decent replacment engine for my UK Manual 300ZX TT - i don't need turbo's as I had 2 new one's only a year ago. It's gonna be cheaper for me to do this than try and trace what we all thought was a head gasket problem. After stripping the engine down they were fine so there is obviously a major problem somewhere else. Oil getting into the water somewhere!!!
  15. Thanks for the help everyone, I hope the block ain't cracked either!! Do you have Z tech's number please!!
  16. :duffer: Ok, need real help on this one otherwise it's gonna cost me mega bucks!! My Z is finally being looked at after being laid up in the garage for 2 months, the problem was a turbo coolent hose splitting causing all the water from the system to drain away - after inspecting the rad and hoses the whole lot was full of real thick sludge hence indicating a head-gasket failiure ie the oil has somehow got into the water. The problem is my garage who I trust have done a compression test on the Z and everything checks out OK. The thermostat is also ok to doing it's thing - it's just that the system is blocked solid with sludge so how can it be a head gasket??!!! The garage still think I should play safe and change the head-gaskets and have a complete engine flush down as well as the hoses changing cause oil contaminates hoses. Do I go to this expense or do I just have and engine flush and change of hoses seeing as the compression check out ok?? The car also still sounds and run's sweet even with blocked hoses and a radiator full of nasty stuff!! Please help!!!
  17. Quiet funny watching my old D reg S12 Silvia eat R34's, wish my Z had the same legs on it!!
  18. OK, quick question needed on boost controllers Do I need to get a new E.C.U chip upgrade before getting a boost controller or can I just buy something like an APEXI box that does everything for me?? :D
  19. At least the Seats in the back of the Z are perferct for fitting the kids in!!
  20. Had the choice before I bought my Z between a Supra, GTO, Impreza, and the 300ZX 3000GTO very nice to drive but too heavy and not as quick as the Z - it was the 6 Speed version too!! Supra was the best but too much money compared with what you got over the Z - bugger all!! and the impreza just didn't handle at-all + to slow compared with the other 3Ltr clan!! Z is always best value for money and rear wheel drive means you're always having fun!!!
  21. Well, looks like I’m not gonna get my Z back until the end of October now after the head gasket problem so my mate has lent me his Mini to get around in. Totally different driving experience to the Z, it’s only got 62Bhp, is front wheel drive, no 4 wheel steering and has a strange pulley outey type thing know as a choke!! This help’s it start in the morning apparently!! The other annoying thing is you don’t get other Z drivers waving at you or flashing their lights as you pass in the opposite direction, instead it’s now all the Mini clan out there!! “I’m not a Mini Lover!!!”. Might have to start giving them all the finger instead!. I’m so pissed off I wanna cry, nothing like going from one end of the food chain to the other!! Still, I keep trying to convince myself that it’s a lot better than walking and it’s cheaper to run. I’m not used to people passing on the right hand side - the strange thing is I’m sure my girlfriend’s hair dryer has got more power than the mini, might have to do a engine swap when she isn’t looking!!! :hyper: If god didn’t want us to break down every once in a while he would never have given us the Z32 TT!!  Those who think they actually own the road probably do – especially when you’re driving a 1976 Mini!! I miss my Z and it’s only been a week!!
  22. Thanks everyone, the car still runs fine even with no water cause my engineer bloke drives it out of the garage every day! no smoke from the exhaust and no funny noises! just lots of sludge in the radiator. Hope your right andy!!!
  23. Had a major disaster on the way home the other night. After parking the Z up loads of steam started to appear from the right hand side of the bonnet! On lifting up the bonnet I could hear loads of hissing and to my horror saw fluid leaking out from just above the drivers side turbo. Couldn’t see much as it was dark. Drove the Z to my local garage the next day and you wouldn’t think it had a problem. Boost fine, temperature fine and no funny engine noises. On parking up the Z, loads of steam emerging from the bonnet this time, turns out the drivers side head gasket has failed and lost all the water out the rad due to oil contamination weakening one of the rubber pipes near the turbo! Arrrrrrghh!!!! Removing the radiator cap revealed the true horror, a nice muckey soup of oil and sludge! Engine out time again!!! Gonna be without her till the end of October now so gonna have to resurrect my S12 Silva. :hyper: This time would it be wise to fit upgraded head-gaskets as I’m also gonna go down the route of raising the boost etc or are standard Nissan ones good enough for 14PSI??!! If so where can I get the upgraded head-gaskets to and how much will they cost compared to the standard Nissan ones!! Thanks very much to anyone who can help me and any other advise while the engine is out!!!!
  24. Sorry Rossy, only just found you're e-mail! Will have to borrow my mates digi camera then get the pictures of the Silvia on here!
