  1. I know some aftermarket ecu and chips raise the rev limit but some also remove this limit.
  2. Good point, i guess also the only time i'll be looking at the rev counter is when i have a heavy foot, the rest of the time i'll change gear without looking at the rev counter and change by feeling when to be changing gear. the 11000 it is.
  3. That's interesting. They have been a great help to me. I've asked for parts they don't list on their site which they have kindly sourced. This is a good example of how helpful they were, i ordered some arp rod bolts at the same time of ordering the rods and they contact me saying that the Arp rod bolts did not work with the rods i had ordered. Also they adviced me on many parts i ordered which ended up changing the parts i had ordered. They were very helpful and provided me with lots of information.
  4. Cool, i've gone for oil pressure, temp and also a boost. I wanted them in the blue but the problem with blue is that they are metric. Do you see what i mean about the 9000 and the 11000 tachometer, the 11000 at lower revs they are all squished together compared to the 9000.
  5. Cool thanks, looks like they are based in the states. ooo... got any pics of your Defi setup? Have you got the Defi Tachometer?
  6. Yeah the crank will be balanced and as for knife edged my previous crank was but i might try something different this time like when they freeze it or do those other things to them. I'm waiting to see what the garage recomends. By the sounds of it it looking like i should get the 11000 rpm rev counter as it is likely i may be able to rev past 9000 with my setup. i'll attach the tachometer so you can see what i mean
  7. Not particully, i have altered the gearing but for aceleration so would be nice to be able to rev that lil higher to get my top end back. Basically what has brung this on is that i want to order a Rev counter and i have the options of either 9000 or 11000 revs, is unsure it would normally make sense to go the 11000 revs one just incase but the 9000 rev counter is slightly better set out. Not only that with bigger turbos it may be nice to be able to rev that lil higher so i have more revs while in boost
  8. I have. 88mm Wiseco pistons Eagle rods. Cosmetic gaskets JWT 500 cams, springs. Adjustable cam gears Ferrara valves Head work plus all the other usual.
  9. Bazz is the AEM Capacitive Digital Ignition MODULE the thing that makes your sparks stronger? If it is i hear i was adviced against the Aem and the HKS DLI is a much better product. As for the Traction Control, i have a Aem and decided to use Race Logic because the Race Logic works off the abs sensors to detect wheel spin as where the Aem works in a way that you do the best run you can, record it and then it will cut the power to meet the same parametors as that run well something like that. So if the road conditions change slightly or you change any parts on your car then that recorded run is pointless. Basically the Aem traction control is only any good if it was to be used the same day it was setup. I also have the map sensor and the Uego thingy but i was also adviced to get the guage purely for diagnostics and to make sure it stays in the safe zone.
  10. I have them, ummm... well i can only compare them to the stock shocks. I live out on some very bumpy roads, after tweaking the settings i have now a good level of handling for performance without the car being too bumpy. They are very good for the price, although the likes of Tien are not that much more. I thought they were very good but i would of went for the Tien for the lil extra in the future.
  11. I've ordered a few big orders, they are very good and helpful. Delivery times are very impressive also. Fantastic service.
  12. Hi All. I'm looking at getting a aftermarket rev counter. There are different options for how high the rev counters go upto. What is the highest most modified Zeds will safely Rev to? Could this beyond 9000 revs?
  13. bum!! why could it of been August. i def wont be ready by then but if it was August i may of entered.
  14. Oh right, so in a sence the VTC is better all round? I guess the adjustable cam gear would advance or delay the timing more than the VTC but doing so you would loose either low end or high end power as where with VTC you would have best of both as it would adjust so you had both. I did order a full set of adjustable gears, am i correct in saying the VTC is only on the inlets cams? So i could run adjustables on the EX cams to dial it in perfecticly and Stick with VTC on the inlet cams. I also found this picture from Tomei to show what your saying. Thanks for your info.
  15. Without spilling out too much you were at the first house on the left when entering the villages just before the church.
  16. When is it?
  17. I've just bought a set of Tomie Adjustable cam gears and after opening the box realised that they look totally different to stock e.g. where is the VTC??? After googling Adjustable cam gears ditch the VTC. My inistial throught ditching the VTC would result in a slower Zed? but correct me if i'm wrong, does VTC just advance and delay the timing? but with adjustable cam gears i could have the VTC timing on all the time? as i would advance or delay the cam gear so it was fixed? If that is the case then why do we have VTC and why don't cars run with the VTC timing all the time? Or have i completely got the wrong end of the stick altogether? Can someone explain how this works and if it's best to have adjustable cams or VTC?
  18. Cool thanks, So a 93 would be suitable. Why on earth did they ditch the vvt ont the 1996 models.
  19. Mine has siezed top and bottom end due to lack of oil, looking like a mapping issue which makes sence as the turbos were very laggy when they whouldn't of been so bad. I'm now having to purchase another engine and full set of uprated internals so i can rebuild that and do a straight swap. Only thing salvagable from my egine will be the titanium retainers and jwt springs, everything else i'm having to buy again. Maybe the rods may be re usable but i want to get my order on it's way and seeing as they are part of the package i'll order another set. It's been very stressful and very pissed as you could imagine. I would really like to have the vvt so would a 93 engine have this? as i'm seeing different years either 93 or 94.
  20. Are all VG30DETT engines the same from 1989-2000? Also i assume that auto and manual engines are the same? I think there was a change in the VG30DETT from 93-94 but what did they change? I'm after a engine for a 1990 basically. Thanks.
  21. anyone? Attached are some pics of the system.
  22. What is the best system for performance? dual rear boxes or a single? Escorty racing are now making a titanium system which is a dual exit. I'm assuming being a dual it will sound totally different, flame and pop more. lighter epsecially being titanium. Can it handle as much power? what would be best for performance? it has a 3" pipe from where it joins the two pipes into to the rear box. Will this be suitable for modded big hp 300's?? I'm after that something different which this could be.
  23. i've seen them before and i'm aware allot of people are running with these but what are they like for modified motors? able to flow enough? and to a high enough quality, shame i missed out on the group buy on these.
  24. For power what is the best exhaust system to go for? Also what's best a 2 rear boxes or just the 1? the car is a TT. Having problems sourcing a nice exhaust system. Looking for a Jap brand.
  25. I took another reading last night and the reading was slightly higher than before, it was reading just under the min mark on the dipstick. So there is oil in there but apparently because the spec of the engine it needs to be on the max mark as it will pump all that oil around the engine. Thanks Ian that's some re assurance, if yours is not using oil like mine and yours is a better spec then mine shouldn't be neither. The car is booked in for the 7th next month for the engine to be stripped and to find the problem as it may be something else and not down to oil. It's been said that my engine would burn allot of oil because of the spec but seeing as no one else Zeds don't then mine shouldn't neither. Maybe i have a leak or something. Yeah i've only done that what i done in the video a couple times as i know how bad it is for the car.
