  1. Flashes from the power light is because the auto box is no longer fitted and to stop this just remove the autobox ecu , it has no bearing on your non starter issue. As you have done so much work there is many, many areas that could be a cause of the non starter, however with all engines it too tempting to go too technical too quickly so its back to basics. Fuel : make sure there is sufficient in the tank ( easy overlooked) remove the fuel pipe from the filter to engine and place in a container and then crank engine, plenty of fuel should fill the container. Spark : Check for spark, leave a coil pack with spark plug resting on the engine with the outer metal body of the plug touching the engine and crank over the engine and check for a good spark. Air : check the intakes make sure they are clear and try starting with the afm selin disconnected, maybe even refit the standard ecu Timing: cam belt alignment needs checking, do a static test by lining up the lower crank at tdc (0 deg) and check the cam sprockets ( will require plastic covers removed ) If there is no spark then start by checking the ptu unit connection and the coil packs, its is also worth checking both injector operation and spark by removing the cas unit and with ignition on spin the shaft, this will send a start signal to the ecu so you should hear the fuel pump run, the injector clicking and with the coil pack/spark plug set up see a spark. If any of the stages above provide a failure then no point moving on until that particular issue is resolved or you will end up going around in circles, in fact if you do find that happening take as break and start all over again, that 5 minutes away will often be all it takes to find it. 2. Very good advice there, the old auto box does get its undeserved level of stick which as you have said is in the main due to poor fluid and stainer maintenance intervals. If you consider the amount of stress and heat the fluid has to deal with as you said it is important to use a good recognised brand and the correct grade, one point that does need to be mentioned though is the standard cooler on both the UK and import zed runs through the radiator header and is not good! An after market air to fluid cooler kit can be found very easily for around £65 or less and comes with everything you need to fit it, the difference in fluid temperature will help keep the fluid in grade and the box a much happier place, transmission case and the tunnel are markedly cooler inside of the cabin. One other point I will raise though Steve you mentioned not to use cheap transmission fluid, even lesser known brands are not cheap, in fact its very expensive if bought in 1 litre bottles!! even though we buy in 25 litre containers it is not cheap so differentiating between cheap and dear can be unclear so my advise is to stick will very well known brands and even though Dexron ll is grade correct, Dexron lll is much better to use although dearer of course..(lol) Thanks for the heads up though Steve always good to revisit these advice threads to remind us all and so new members get to see them. 3. Very good luck in this venture, the shop looks great and its clear to see the work and effort you have both already put into setting it all up. It takes guts to pour your own hard earned money into a new business and make that commitment to an eight day week and no wages for 12 months (lol) but with true passion, determination and a sprinkle of luck your efforts will be well rewarded in achieving something that many would love to try but never area able to, good on ya!! 6. Oh dear, that is one nice zed and in my view the body shop / insurance co. have sold you short there, silver is royal pain to match and edge to edge repair will never look right. Blending would have made the job so much better, I know insurance companies world wide will try and pinch were they can but to not blend a silver/mettalic repair to me is a lesser than satisfactory job. Its your zed and it was perfect before, its not like you were looking for betterment, tell the insurance company about your concerns and although the customer service was excellent the body shop need to do blend the door into the front wing and rear quarter and paint the door handle at the same time! We have all seen cars like this and when I do I wonder why the owner has accepted the repair as ok, trust me, as time goes on this will bug you every time you walk up to the car, and even worse when someone points it out, the paint will not look better as it ages either that`s a body shop cop out, feel for you matey, I had a full repaint on my zed years ago and the drivers door had a shadow in it, when I pointed it out they repainted it and when I went to collect they had edge painted it and it was like black and white, I refused the car until I got what I was paying for a repainted car all the same shade, they did it again ( this time blending and magically it was all ok. Good luck and stay firm you want it right. Jeff TT
  7. Have sent you a pm Leeroy. Jeff TT
  8. No worries Leeroy, will pm you a little later, might be best if I speak with these guys for you as often they prefer to talk garage to garage and often it prevents misunderstandings etc, anyway look out for my pm once I have finished my tea etc. Jeff TT
  9. The heater motor has a resister pack in the air flow duct behind the glove box this can sometimes fail and cause the motor to not work correctly, however the motor is served by two fuses in the drivers side foot well, bottom row right hand side its is essential this power supply is checked when the non working fan issue occurs because a problem here in the fusebox could also be the potential issue do note that the fuses are only live when the fan is switched on as the supply is switched by a relay on the back of the fuse box Jeff TT
  10. Tricky looking for solutions just from an owners description, sometimes what some will describe as a misfire some will describe as a hesitation or pulsing, had many times with zeds booked in to be look at for said faults to find a much simpler running issue that is neither a misfire or a true hesitation its all in the eye of the owner really, here once the common symptoms / causes have been exhausted it really needs a hands on to find the problem be it a connection, air leak or whatever, hope you get it sorted Leeroy soon as poss. Jeff TT
  11. Anything is possible but to run so badly would need the belt or i cam timing to be off by a fair amount, as I read it also the car ran ok till the next day? if so less likely a belt issue, but again as always there is a chance something has going wrong during the instillation that has had an effect later, just so hard to be certain as the symptoms can be the same for a whole raft of reasons, also do not want to dis the garage either if its not their fault. Jeff TT
  12. Sorry to hear the issues with the car are begining to stress you, I do think a deeper look into the problem is needed, as you mention the issues were not there before the work then the garages reasoning that inter-cooler pipes are the problem are the issue is not an answer and as much as you do not feel they are up to the job you do need to return to them to correct what ever went wrong or at least definitively find the cause. You need to speak with the service manager or his boss and explain in a cool way the situation and you want to give them the opportunity to deal with the problem and book the car in for them to do it, make it clear the problems were not there before. Shame your not closer or would happily attend to the issue for you, alternatively if the garage do not want to play ball or are stuck on where to go with it I can always speak to them on your behalf to pave the way for you if you wish. Jeff TT
  13. Pablito...... how the devil are you matey! Lynda says hi too!! Every success with the zed sale, sure you will not have a problem though.. Jeff TT
  14. Be very sure they have quoted you a Z32 and not a Z31 turbo, its not unusual for them to not know the difference?? I always asked for them to repeat to me that it was a Z32 twin turbo, then ask for it to be confirmed in writing, as much as its a great quote you don`t want to be arguing with them if something did happen. Jeff TT
  15. here you go: H3C BULB X 2 - (PAIR) £5.89 +p/p http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H3C-BULB-X-2-PAIR-12V-55W-Clear-Japanese-Usa-Imports-/201021783317?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2ecdd4fd15 Jeff TT
  16. Ok its most likely something and nothing so try to not get too stressed yet, something has been disturbed most likely, check though the large throttle pipes to be sure they are seated well and not leaking, you could also try unplugging the afm and start the engine and see if it is running ok, remember it will be limited to around 2,400rpm with it unplugged. If it runs better with the afm unplugged it narrows it down a bit as its something effecting the mixture, this will either be an air leak or the afm itself. Try it and report back what you get, I take it you had more than the cambelt etc done for £900? Jeff TT
  17. Door lock handle is held in by 2 x 10mm nuts, one is viewable as you have seen and can be accessed from the large hole using a small spanner, the other is accessed by removing the grey plastic disc/grommet that is far right in your picture, you will need a 10 mm socket and small extension bar for that. Jeff TT
  18. Temp sensor connection, ptu, connection and cas connection, check all of these, will not be a split intercooler pipe Jeff TT
  19. Ok the symptoms are a very broad as a consequence you will need to do some more testing to narrow down what is going on. So the best thing is to start all over again as you need to follow a set routine with fault finding and not miss anything out or your tests will account for nothing. So the non start issue could be due to lack of spark Remove a coil pack and use a spare spark plug in the end with the body of the plug touching the engine crank over and watch for a good spark, if not check the coil pack for 12v supply and check the ptu and crank angles sensor connections. lack of fuel Check fuel tank for actual fuel level, you would not be the first to get caught by this. When cranking the engine you will need to know if fuel is been fed to the fuel rail, depresurise the rail and loosen the fuel line from the filter, attach a temporary pipe and pass it into a bottle or similar, crank the engine and watch or a strong flow of fuel, if no fuel then the fuel pump or the circuit needs checking faulty afm Try unplugging the air flow meter, they can fault in a certain way that will actually stop the engine running, so see if it will fire up when unplugged faulty timing/ belt issue If the cam belt has moved/ slipped / broken it will not start, check the cambelt is actually not broken, ( turn the engine over whilst an assistant watches the cam rotate through the oil filler hole. If the cam belt is not broken then it could of jumped/ slipped so a static timing test would be a good idea, remove the right hand plastic cam belt cover and rotate the engine until the cam markings are roughly in line with the back plate, then check the bottom pulley it should be on tdc ( 0 deg) If the timing is good and so is the fuel, spark and afm then the engine should start, if it still refuses to start then the ecu may have an issue, although doubtful as spark and fuel would be effected. Often non starting can be compounded by failed starts flooding the engine as said by others so make sure the plugs are dried out by removing and actually cleaning them. Some where through the fault finding list you should come across the problem, having diagnostic equipment does help a lot as does experience of the often temperamental characteristics of the zed engine. Good luck Jeff TT
  20. Have plenty more for you just be patient....LOL ( :detective:) Jeff
