Metal fatigue and lower front arms
Ok this is not a new item for inspection having seen many cracked front arms where the tension road arm fixings pass through but the level of damage to this arm is a first for me and it has been a good while since seeing something so bad and dangerous. Forced by oncoming traffic to go kerb side whilst driving through a pot hole and the owner of this zed hear a loud crack and then the steering went very odd feeling, inspection found the nearside wheel pushed way back and rubbing the back end of the front wheel arch. The failure coincided with a requirement for 4 x new discs and pads so a good time to sort it all out at the same time, today`s sunshine provided a perfect opportunity and so all the work was done under a blue sky with full sunshine, with tea and toast provided by the customer the job went like a dream and all was restored. Worth a look down there occasionally to keep an eye on these front arms, especially if fitted with the early type tension rod bushes that are very hard and afford less movement thus transmitting extra load on to the arm. alternator belt
The water pump pulleys on UK zeds are larger diameter than the import TT ones, in fact there is four or five sizes, non turbo also have different sizes, its all dependant on what country the car is been made for as the speed of the pump and fan blade changes accordingly, warmer countries have the smaller pulley and hence the different fan / pump speed to aid with cooling. alternator belt
The UK alternator belt is longer than import due to different water pump pulleys, this is what often leads to mistakes. Jeff

Replacing Clutch Master Cylinder
Only worth changing to non turbo pedal if your clutch booster has gone, that cylinder you have listed will be just fine. Jeff

Replacing Clutch Master Cylinder
Brand new cylinder from Z1 in the US just $55 here: https://www.z1motorsports.com/clutch-and-flywheel/pbr/300zx-tt-clutch-master-cylinder-p-5694.html The bleeding with a one piece flex pipe should take just a couple of minutes, fill the reservoir and let it gravity bleed through as much as possible with the slave nipple open. Then bleed as normal just a few times ensuring you keep the master cylinder topped up, one trick I used to stop any air getting trapped behind the slave cylinder piston was to squeeze it all the way in a put a cable tie around it. Very small window of opportunity to add these to my flight case if any interest, getting harder to come by now..... Jeff- converting to manual
Connect the Neutral switch and it will work correctly, failing that earth pin 44 on the ecu. Jeff- Horn kicking off
Locate the end of the pipe as in the first picture below. Now look at the two pictures you can see the outlet is behind the cross brace, you may have sound deadening material hiding it. Follow the link below of how to fix the drivers side pipe its the same for the passenger, basically remove the A pillar cover and you will see the pipe, disconnect it from the targa drain outlet, now you can pull some extra pipes down so the bottom reaches and can be dealt with. Now you fit a pipe connector or some form of extension to the pipe so it reaches the targa drain outlet, its easier to do there. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?158042-Drivers-targa-pipe-fix&highlight=targa+drains- Horn kicking off

Asked and answered a few weeks ago, my reply 4th post down. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?183806-Just-had-a-weird-thing-happen Jeff- Ongoing Auto Transmission problems......
Did you use the torque converter from the previous box or the replacement? Jeff- Ongoing Auto Transmission problems......
This is a common issue caused directly by the fluid strainer getting blocked by debris in the fluid, once the strainer is completely blocked all fluid pressure is lost and hence drive is also lost. By waiting for the fluid to run back through the box and semi flush the strainer as it flows back by gravity the fluid pressure can again return, this of course is short lived as the strainer will block up again. So there is no other option but to drain the box and remove the sump pan, this gives access to the strainer which can be cleaned out, the box can be sprayed clean from below and also remove and flush the cooler pipes and the cooler itself. The only issue you have is the torque converter will not be drained so there is likely to be debris still in there so even if after filling and all is ok you would be advised to do it again a week later or a couple of hundred miles or so. The chances are is the debris is either brake band or clutch material, this could be a build up of over time without fluid changes or it could be a sudden onset due to a failure in a band or clutch plate, its just something you have to try and hope it works, if not its a rebuild or manual conversion. Jeff- Very very nice floor mats
As title, think these look soo nice but are they just to nice to put your feet on??? maybe drop them in for shows etc. ( £199 ) Jeff - Zed related brochures and literature
