  1. J1mmytt is the WINNER :nana2::nana2::nana2: Shared with Zogg, Tonyb,nickz32 (re: timing issue) Jeez will you stop been so flipping clever, sorry guys for you keeping in suspenders was too busy at work to post back and just got back home. The upshot was the amount of damage caused by the pistons hitting the valves and bending one across the plugs ( more than one was damaged) a replacement engine was fitted Want some more? Jeff TT
  2. Ok wrong path you taking there, the head gasket was changed in the car, the "garage" removed the head to do the work WITHOUT removing the crank pulley (clue) :x: Jeff TT
  3. :rofl:I like that. More clues, genuine T plate non turbo zed, back street garage had changed the head gasket and could not get it to start:confused: Jeff TT
  4. Next one, what would cause the damage below and why? Jeff TT
  5. The other guys are will get jealous:bow: The garage who did the work refused to pay for the replacement and the customer had to take them to the small claims courts and using our evidence won the case and got their money back but it took like 12 months due to delays etc. Jeff TT
  6. Yahoooooooooo j1mmy is the WINNER :bow::bow: Missing bearing clip had allowed the bearing carrier to rotate and jam in the clutch fork at the exact angle you see below, the second photo shows how its should fit before the clip is fitted ( clip in the background) and the last one shows the witness mark on the carrier Also quite clearly the bearing had NOT been changed either:nono: Jeff TT
  7. ooh so close, clue is a small part was left missing. Jeff TT
  8. Morning Tony, sorry nope:D Jeff TT
  9. No and no, keep em coming :D Jeff TT
  10. Next one, take a look at the clutch below, the amount of wear and how the flywheel is cracked, the black goo coming out of the gearbox bellhousing is clutch material been washed out with brake cleaner. A worn clutch seems like no mystery but this one had done less than 200 miles, a clutch specialist had fitted it, these photos where later used as evidence in a subsequent claim by the owner as a full clutch and flywheel had to be fitted. What had they done wrong? Jeff TT
  11. Ok guys, will put you out of your misery, the car had been repaired some 3 years previous after a front impact, unfortunately although the obvious damage had been well repaired a split in the underseal at the front edge of the floor had been missed and had allowed water to seap between the floor and underseal. It had created a large flat ballon full of water sitting between the floor and the underseal, left unchecked it just ate the floor away. Highlights the importance of underseal checks and repairs, body shop involved should have known better from experience. Jeff TT
  12. Some good idea`s but not right yet. Clue is the rot was from outside in not the other way around. Jeff TT
  13. Floor corrosion Ok now check out this case of horrendous floor corrosion, take a look at the sills and they are fine so the car is not a rot box anywhere else, this damage was restricted to the drivers side only, so what caused it? oh and yes that is the bottom of the carpet /sound deadening you can see through the holes. Jeff TT
  14. J1mmy is the very early winner:dance::dance::dance: clever lad. Thought that would have you going for ages:cry: Jeff TT
  15. A bit different on this one, rather that damage photos and what caused it here are a couple of photo`s first you need to identfy what they are and as one is broken what the result would be. Jeff TT
  16. Wants some more guys?? Jeff TT
  17. Your welcome Dave, we put the world to rights with our chatting when you collected eh? Jeff TT
  18. Yes absolutely, the above car was an exception given its age and so went over the top to ensure its does not return, if your keeping on top of the small areas thats just fine. One area that gets overlooked is the front member under the radiator, especially if the undertrays are still in place as it hides it, worth a look on a nice day. Jeff TT
  19. Yes it flipping did.......2 days! Jeff TT
  20. Most of the rust was removed with a wizzy brush in the air drill what could not be removed was neutraised then the whole underside zinc coated before high pressure final coating which looks like underseal but is an ever fluid gel that skin drys but stays tacky underneth the skin, this way it can self heal small impact damage such as stones etc. Jeff TT
  21. Genuine N.Reg :shock: Later after much cleaning and coating it looked like this: Jeff TT
