Help with Sales of Goods act (after warranty)
What is the probkem your having? if it is acting odd rather than a particular problem try plugging it via a surge and power smoothing adapter such as the one below There seems to be a particular issue with home treadmills and home electical supplies, can cause all sorts of issues where electonics and ac/dc motor speed controllers are used. As far as warranty and sale of goods act as you have been having an on going problem that is still un-resolved despite repairs and replacement I would say you have a good case to be asking for a full refund. Failed turbo update
Following on from an earlier thread about turbo damage due to low oil pressure after an owner changed his turbo`s, started all good but 600 miles later ... total disaster http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=157837 So here are the oily bits, Damage to the intake impellor due to failed bearing leading to excess shaft movement, exhaust turbine can be seen covered in oil due to rear seal failure after the bearing overheated. All refurbed and looking spanky, such a shame it will be not be viewable!! A little under £400 and with all new parts and 12 months warranty so not too bad, now where does it fit?....... Jeff TT

Big Thanks To Jeff And Family, And Mark Derby.
Glad it worked out for you, can do a tech thread on the issues if your ok with that? Jeff

Brake bleeding help!!!
Mmm..did you push the pads back when changing the pads without opening the bleed nipples, if so its not unusual for the brake master cylinder seals to flip around as mentioned above, also when bleeding, the piston seals travel further down the cylinder than normal and can get nicked by any rough spots caused by debris or corrosion from mositure in the fluid. If this is the case the master cylinder will need replacing or new seals, always a pain when trying to do the right thing when it ends up going wrong. Jeff

Mis-matched clutches.... tech thread
So our own designed clutch prior to fitting, and the flywheel fitted with completion tomorrow ready for collection should see this zed owner very happy. Jeff TT

Dad the house is in fire!
Shower was a Tritan not sure of exact model, I did take a quick look at the breaker board and could not see any electrical test labels? The landlord was informed and arrived before the firemen left and apparently they were asking him some questions he seemed to be avoiding answering directly?? Jeff

Dad the house is in fire!
Its a rented house, hopefully the landlord will get his insurance to pull their finger out! Jeff TT

Dad the house is in fire!
Looking closer at the shower the cables have clearly overheated that caused the insulation to melt and then flash across sparking the fire, oh I did forget to mention Danni was actually in the shower when this started!! lucky girl me thinks. Jeff

Dad the house is in fire!
This morning got a phone call at 7.00am from my daughter "dad the shower is on fire" !!! not the type of call you can deal with well at any time, few words were exchanged, switch the fuse board off and get out! 7 miles away, got there in race track time, to see two fire engine and associated pipes and firemen and the girls outside in their pj`s Everybody was safe and despite a very, very smokey house the main rooms are ok. The amazing thing is only the electric shower unit actually caught fire but the smoke damage is major in the bathroom, thankfully Danni had presence of mind to shut the bathroom door which the fire crew said saved the rest of upstairs. Defo an insurance job now, assessor coming tomorrow, meanwhile Danni is back home with us until its fixed. One point I would like to make is the excellent response time and actions of the Tamworth Fire Brigade, arrive within 7 minutes of the call, no doubt this added to saving the rest of the house. The firecrew made a complete check of the house to ensure the electric supply was ok to turn back on etc. The added shame was it was Danni`s 30th birthday this morning and her house mates had no chance to do the present thing.....but could of ended very differently. Worth having your house checked out from time to time, the shower units was only 4 years old! Jeff TT

Auto shift solenoid 'A' location
This is part of the valve body assembly that is fitted inside of the gearbox, access to the valve pack is via the gearbox sump, however it could be a wiring issue to the gearbox, check the three connectors on the drivers wing by the headlight a test here can be done or at the autobox ecu to determin if it is a wiring or solenoid issue, you need a good test meter and some patience, there is a diagram in the workshop manual for this. Good luck Jeff TT

New turbo woes..tech thread
Ah now thats a secret!! ...................no not really the engine is been changed also due to low compression on a cylinder, and rebuilt at a later time. Jeff

New turbo woes..tech thread
Sometimes with the very best of intentions somethings just seem destined to go wrong. Case in point, a very smokey zed we saw a year ago returned with a very unhappy owner. With the help of a mechanic mate he had removed the engine and removed and replaced the turbo`s with newly refurbished items. During the change over the oil lines were replaced as was the oil and filter, the turbo`s were pre-oiled and the oil lines filled as per the turbo companies instructions, also when all refitted the engine was turned over with the fuel pump fuse removed to prevent starting, this done until oil came out of the turbo oil returns. So all good and now running, however the smoke still persisted, but as the exhaust had been filled ( literally) by the previous failed turbo it was concluded by the owner that it was old oil that needed burning off. 300 miles later and the smoke had briefly reduced but now was bad as ever!!! sadly as often happens the owner parked it up out of frustration and disapointment. Fast forward to now the owner decided to get it done, so whilst we tested it the smoke would have made James Bond proud!! we knew something was very wrong. So engine out! Passenger side turbo looks a bit sooty but fine....... But the drivers side turbo was wrecked, difficult to see in the picture but the shaft was wobbling all over the place and as can be seen the oil seal had let go! The front of the turbo implellor had suffered damage from the excess shaft movement and basically is in need of a full rebuild....again So a detailed investigation by the tubo company has revealed the shaft journel to be completely coated in metal transfer, it transpires that under closer inspection they could say 100% the failure was due to low oil pressure not no oil pressure as is often the case. So looking back, the original failed turbo was on the same side of the engine, and with the passenger side turbo in good order we checked the oil feed on the drivers side not the pipe but the block casting, nothing to be seen but when we tried to blow compressed air through it was clearly restricted. So no one to blame really, the owner did his best and really the same as most garages would have done, but all along there was a hidden issue that as I said at the begining was fated to cause this failure. Good news is the turbo is repaired and back on its way to us so will update again when complete. Be carefull when checking oil supplies Jeff TT

Heaters are cold
Fully agree, having done hundreds of cambelts many whilst owners wait can say that air locks should not be a problem if the filling proceedure is adhered to, unfortunately it often is not, especially putting the heater on 40 deg to open the heater matrix valve. Jeff TT

Full throttle acceleration the nothing
Ok the cas unit is dead simple picture below, its to the extream right 3 x 10mm bolts, remember though a timing check will be required. If you get stuck on a cas unit we have plenty and can send one to try. Jeff

Power Steering Fluid
The info on PSF fluid suggests its compatible with Dextron but as advised above would stick with the original. Jeff TT

Full throttle acceleration the nothing
Ok seems back to what said before, either cas or afm, afm issues can be varied and not always obvious as I said they often do not give a code when they are giving an out of range signal, the afm can sometimes when faulty even stop the engine starting! I think you definately should try an borrow an afm / cas and see how you get on. Jeff TT

Full throttle acceleration the nothing
Mmm...det sensor code that cannot be reset means the det sensor circuit has an issue whether it be the sensor, loom, connector or cable the code does not mean your getting detting. However you will be running retarded ignition with that code which is not helpful, how has the been boost raised, controller or boost jets? Jeff TT

prop size confusion question
Your welcome, can help with swb manual one if required Jeff TT

Full throttle acceleration the nothing
Seen this before and although typically with zeds there can be a few causes a shut down of thuis nature is usually down to a bad maf sector or a cas unit overspeed issue, see if you can borrow these and swap out to see, one thing though, typically this kind if fault should but often does not give any fault codes, which adds to the problem. my zed wont idle ?
The issue you having is a common one, however it can be caused by a general set up problem or as you mention a faulty idle control valve. The fact it ran better with small leaks suggest the base idle is set too low, this is the mechanically set minimum tick over speed, there is an adjustment screw for this on the side of the unit when viewed from the battery location towards the rear of the engine ( plenum) there is also a yellow plug on the unit that can sometime come adrift or become a bad connection that can cause idle recovery issues such as when revving up and closing the throttle suddenly that will cause a stall. Of course there is also the possibility the idle valve solenoid has failed, no biggy to change but needs checking out first before writing it off. Throttle balance, tps and timing are all areas than can contribute to the problem, so much easy to sort it with diagnostic equipement. Jeff TT Top man!! Jeff

prop size confusion question
The clue to your question is here, what you have been sold as a swb prop clearly is not if the rear section is the same length as a lwb one. Jeff TT
