  3. Think its possible one thread is shorter than the other and the bolt got to the bottom of the hole before been completely tight, cannot see why a thread repair will not work though, had worse than this once when tightening one up the stud started turning well before the nut got tight but you could not tell as it was happening, next thing crack the diff case split!!! Jeff TT
  4. The diaphragm should just lift the valve off its seat, as the valve is closed then just remove the vacuum feed to the diaphragm see if it still leaks, you might be lucky its just on the vac side!! Jeff TT
  5. Top bloke. Jeff TT
  6. I am intrigued to how you know/ tested for that? anyway the egr causes more issues than not given the age of them, disable or delete what ever you fancy. Jeff TT
  7. The MOT tester is refering to the hicas arm which is an easy replace, this is were he mentioned there is some wear, the outer bush he mentioned is a split rubber cover only, recent changes to MOT testing mean rubber boots on ball joints are now checked, as its an advisory only it cannot be too bad. The clarity with both fail and advisories exists is because testers have to choose from a set of preset descriptions and often they do have one that fits exactly. Jeff TT
  8. As above, when using the advanced search the edit boxes are displaced and some you cannot enter and field in to them so search comes up invalid....been like it a couple of weeks was seeing if anyone else got the same prob? Jeff TT
  9. Yes like more than £200 cheaper! Speak tomorrow. Jeff TT

  11. Nissan part numbers that will fit TT or Non Turbo Cam belt 13028-45P86 Water Pump B1010-22P27 Give mike a call at MJP ( trader section ) he will sort you out quickly. Hope that helps Jeff TT
  12. As said above really, Manta would need to see it to be 100% but the obvious parts can be bought second hand, hidden damage is always an issue before stripping, however the rear panel under the light and the bumper damage is quite high this would most likely make hidden damage to be less likely. The panel under the light is best repaired with a slight pull and some metal working, the only bit that is difficult is paint matching either way still going to be around £500+ to repair yourself, an insurance repair would be more like that in labour +paint and materials and £1k for parts ( all new from Nissan) by the time you have added vat its a £2k repair madness I know, and until the other party admits fault you will have to pay your excess and claim it back. Note: The rear spoiler would not be done under any insurance claim as it looks to be suffering from water ingress already, so it would be "betterment" so you would end up paying for it. Remember even a no fault accidents will effect your policy next year, unfair I know but that`s the reality with insurance today, and we thought Dick Turpin was dead! Jeff
  13. The same belt and the same water pump, be careful when looking at spurious application guides the non turbo applications may be for the Z31. Goes with out saying please fit a "Genuine Nissan belt" lots less grief of know quality and correct fit. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?130325-Nissan-V-Blueprint-Cambelt-showdown&highlight=cambelt+comparison Jeff TT
  14. Hi Mark, Re our telephone conversation today here is the link to a drivers side manifold gasket change I did earlier this year ( with pics ) I know you just changing the turbo but should give you some pointers hopefully, in this thread I removed the booster and brake master cylinder as the manifold was coming off, for the turbo you could just undo the master cylinder and gently move it aside. Jeff TT http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?168325-Manifold-gasket-drivers-side
  15. Shooting brake!!! Rich that sounds like my mum that what she used to call estate`s in the 70`s:biggrin: Nice.......
  16. No problem always happy to help with tech threads even simple ones. Jeff TT
  17. Have been asked about the H1 main beam headlight bulb replacement a couple of times recently and also saw some confusion here about the H1 type due to it been fitted into an adapter before fitted to the headlight. So took a few pics and hopefully will help expain what you need to know about changing the bulb and understanding the adapter. So pic one shows the rubber cover in place, picture two shows how to release the bulb holder from the headlight by pinching the two small "wings" in at the bottom. Picture three shows the bulb been released and also look carefully you can see how green the connectors are to the bulb holder, this is a problem particular to the main beam and can often be mistaken for a blown bulb. Picture four show the bulb and holder removed, the release wings can be seen and so can the extent of the connection corossion. Picture five shows the holder and the bulb separated, now the H1 fitment can be seen and understood, clean the connection before refitting. Of course access is much less when fitted to the cars but do-able. Hope that helps, Jeff TT
  18. A job that can potentially get very expensive, good used tailgate even with painting may work our less expensive. Jeff TT
  19. Not really a DIY job, also the seal edge strip is A U shape wrapped around the edge of the glass and then bonded in, this means removing the glass and seal edge intact is difficult if not impossible with such fragile plastic, the main strip edge is also no longer available and the top edge that is is near £100, we always use a windscreen guy and he refits it with a universal rubber strip that looks better than original. Jeff TT
  20. Just run a new supply in but remember to go through the dimmer still though. Jeff TT
  21. Comes as part of a new lock barrel, you can change the whole lot but will have a second key then or just take the part you want from the new barrel and fit to the existing one, very common part to fail as the plastic gets brittle over time Unfortunately think you find the new barrel will be at £60+ Jeff TT
  22. Yes there was a few choice words, to be honest I was surprised as I have done 10+ clutches and gearbox changes on 350`s and this one was the first one I have had to deal with such corroded bolts. Jeff TT
  23. Sorry a 350z not a z32 but sometimes when those little jobs go off track it can be so frustrating! so said 350z was in for clutch change today as it was slipping under load at motorway speeds in top gear. So within 5 minutes of it been in the air I could see the exhaust nuts were looking nasty, so plenty of freeing agent and get on with some of the other nuts and bolts. So even with heat and the best fitting sockets they rounded off, not one, not two but all four!!! eventually after getting some of my Mac tools socket hammered on they moved but then snapped all of then doh!! With the exhaust off the box was soon out and the clutch removed, there was not a lot left of the plate most of the lining been dust fibre in the bell housing. An interesting point is the clutch size, the spec was a GT but the replacement GT clutch was larger and the surface area on the cover, have seen this a few times now and wondering if the UK spec were fitted with smaller clutches for some reason?? oh well all together now and collected this afternoon by a now happy customer who will be most likely writing a stern letter after she had paid for an AA pre-purchase check done and they said all was ok just 3 weeks ago, clearly it was not! Jeff TT
  24. Have fitted many variants of these and those look the correct fit to me, in fact one end is slightly wider than the other on some and you have to be sure they are the correct way around as one end will fit and the other will not in the section fitted to the body. The allen key bolts are essential to be tight as the threads are quite coarse on the adjustment section if the locking collars are not tight there will be movement in the thread, not over tightening will fracture the locking collars. Jeff
  25. Exactly! as suggested above if you have one fitted leave it, if it leaks / breaks take it out. Jeff TT
