  1. Really scary but confirms how I felt about mine. Before I got mine, I read on the web about the great brakes on the Zed, but found mine to be severly lacking in comparison to my other vehicles systems
  2. The information on this site is wonderful, the members helpful, with easy access to second hand spare parts through the members or the authorised traders on here. Paying my initial membership to keep a club like this ticking and hosted, is really worthwhile. £20 - chicken feed for what you get in return. I'll go one step further and say, that subscriptions should be obligatory. If you can afford a Zed, you can afford a £20 sub whether you use this site frequently or not. :slap:
  3.:rofl::rofl: Man - the cameras caught one of them outside jacking off on the other guys car. I have never seen anything like it before. Mechanphilia is the fetish or ailment, apparently.
  4. We all love our cars right? But watch whats on Virgin +1 right now - God these guys are weird - what a laugh. :hyper: Looks at the exhaust pipe "as the cars anus"! Gets horny looking at the cars, I thought the guy in the coloured shirt was going to hump the bonnet of his bug. :hurl: Watch it for the fun!!!
  5. Ring Tein directly. Thats what I had to do, as they didn't respond to the enquiry e-mail which I sent via their website. If you have the model number they will be able to give you a guide, but it might not be that cheap. I have a set which needs refurbing as I cannot adjust the height adjustment on them. The girl actually said that depending on the models it might be better to replace them. Apparently if they are over 10 years old, the older parts have to be brought from Japan and they are costly. Based on that conversation I also think, that you will have to route the refurb through your local dealer rather than sending them directly to Tein.
  6. I would check your battery first like the guys have said. However my guess would be the solenoid on the starter rather than the battery based on the "clicking" sound I had a similar issue on another vehicle (not a Zed) and that was the culprit.

Looks like the general consensus says Longford at this stage. Only proviso for me is - if there is snow or ice, I wouldn't chance the Zed. Any time I sit behind the wheel there's a huge temptation to drive a bit faster than I should. I guess we can all confirm the day before hand.

I voted for "Sligo" obviously, but if it was down to Proportional Representation like the elections, my number 2 would go to Longford.

Ok - give me a little notice and I'll get onto my contact so that I'll have the detail of the 300zx fanatic around Galway.
  10. Got my father (who is an OAP)in it once after I bought it and he said never again.... "too low, too loud and way too fast" He was begging me to take it easy, and you know what, I was :D. I truly wasn't flooring it. He did advise me to remove what was a genuinely hideous racing spoiler that looked like an ironing board off the back of it, so deep down I do think he likes it.
  11. I better get a spare key cut myself... I noticed that after I start my one and the doors are closed it locks automatically. Never thought of the problem I would have if I closed the door and me outside the car  Thanks for wakening me up!

Lingus - I'm in Galway a couple of times a week. I saw a white 300ZX around the Clayton hotel 6 weeks ago or so. It looked tidy with a nice sound from a twin exhaust. Wasn't yours by any chance. Richard/Lingus - must meet for a long lunch break some day. A guy who does the IT for the company I work with, knows another bloke in Galway who apparently knows how to really tunes these beasts.
  13. Bottom pipes. See on the image. But double check as I haven't fitted them myself (not my engine in the shot)
  14. I believe that certain upgraded brake kits were designed to work with the existing ABS setup on the 300zx. Two examples are Brembo and Stillen: http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetails/Brembo/Brakes/Big_Brake_Kits/GT_4_Piston/11220 http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/partdetails/Stillen/Brakes/Big_Brake_Kits//5148 (Those links are to a retailing website, but as you can see it says that both these work with the existing brake master cylinder and are ABS compatible)
  15. Try Mike at MJP autos on here for new ones. I bought a second hand one from Paul at SWZ Parts (also an official trader on here) and it works perfect. Mine is also a series one.
  16. It's still on there in a normal auction with a current bid of €1060.55 Also it appears that the reserve is met http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370120230778 I don't know what is going on...
  17. I had a problem with my window not working and it turned out to be the window regulator. I had thought originally that my problem was with the motor, but it wasn't. The window regulator is a small black rectanguler box located inside the door card. You cant miss it. Unfortunately I cant advise how to test it without replacing it.
  18. If you are going to remove your existing 99 spec rear spoiler and its not damaged, I'd be interested at the right price. I myself have been considering the 99 spec and would end up respraying a cf one. So if you go ahead, drop me a pm, we might be able to deal. :) Cheers, Colm
  19. In the link, the contributor raises the question of the Apollo FMIC and goes on to say that the design of "this" FMIC goes against the natural design of the VG30DETT. Now is it being suggested that the SMIC's are the better option for our cars, based on the original design than the FMIC's? Are all FMIC's designed the same? I expect that they are but I'm not sure.
  20. I'll let Legrath, j1mmytt or some of the more knowledgable contributors answer that question. I'm a novice I'm afraid. C
  21. Hi Al, Whats the turbo lag like? Have you experienced a difference in that respect over the stock ones? (Question is to help my understanding, not to look for faults in somebodys choice) How much are the Godspeed ones and would you recommend? Rgds, C
  22. I came across the following link when I was thinking about eventually changing my stock intercoolers. It may be useful to anybody considering doing likewise. It may not have all brands but it covers quite a few. From the date on the post, it is around 2 years old, so there may have been further developments from each manufacturer but I doubt it. Hope the link is of some use. http://www.zdriver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19694
  23. Hi All, http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EeNZluEhydE I was watching the top gear comparisons of the Zed's on another link posted by Legrath I think. My assumption is that the car between the 300zx TT and the 350Z which JC drives is a SWB N/A Z32. Can't get a right look at it. Can anybody confirm that? If it is, it seemed to get a terrible start off the line, but I was still surprised how far down the field it finished. Is the NA that slow? Cheers, Colm
  24. Hi Jeff, Come to think of it, when it happens occassionally, it normally happens at home, which suggests when it is cold. I'll pull out the engine bay map from this site and start looking for the clutch master cylinder. Thanks for the reply and pointers. Regards, Colm
