New calipers or not?
I agree too... When the OEM brakes are working properly, they are more than good enough for normal road use. The age, weight and performance of these cars does take its toll on the brakes over time - and as most Zeds are now 25-30 years old, they will most certainly need a refurb. Rebuild your stock calipers, fit some decent vented/grooved discs and high quality pads. Replace the fluid - even consider upgrading to SS-braided hoses and you'll really notice the difference!

Richard, Gaz Thanks long time lurker!
Always good to see folks return Chris; all's well in the world of the Zed..... And the thread is now open once more - admin error somewhere; happens from time to time...:oops:

Price fall?
Yup - seconded.... Welcome back mate!
-
Price fall?
Yup….. …..Unless, of course, there is no new owner:wink: Maybe it's all a conspiracy; and Simon has kept his Zed - but merely just squirrelled it off to a top secret storage facility, only for it to materialise in time-warp-fantastic condition a few years hence!!!

Why......??
The way it should be Bri….. …..And good to see you're still kicking around mate! Hope you and Chris are well; it'd be great to catch up again soon:thumbup:

Differences between shells
If you just talking the basic shell, then I doubt there are any differences at all. With regards a more "complete" car, I think the JDM series 2 might also have seat belts on the B-pillar.

Hedge find
PMSL - ditto...

Another UK spec bites the dust
Just checked my history.... Zedworld 25/8/2009 at 70,481 miles Zedworld 8/8/2012 at 84,702 miles 7 years and 30k miles on, I think it's definitely due that trip to Jimmer:wink:

Why......??
Yup - and still, most of the power required to generate the electricity comes from burning fossil fuels. Wind power is just a supplementary source in the UK, as it just cannot produce sufficient energy to supply our population - so nuclear is the only answer. And you can bet your arse, these "green" zealots aren't too keen on nuclear power either!
-
Why......??
Yup - but these idiots don't understand that....! I'd turn the water cannons on them, myself. And throw in a few bars of soap (vegan un-friendly, of course) for good measure; most of them need a bloody good wash.... Joking aside though, it's none of their business if I want to continue eating meat - it's called freedom of choice and is part of the very same freedom that permits them to hold their protest. I've said it before, these zealots won't be happy until we've all reverted to living in caves again - and even then, they'd complain that some of us have bigger caves....
-
Why......??
PMSL - but very true....

Why......??
Nice find....! These doom-mongers are causing panic with their alarmist claims - my neighbour was telling me how his grandchildren are petrified (his words) by the imminent death of mankind; as taught in their schools. By all means, they are entitled to their peaceful protest; but they are not entitled to cause mass disruption to people trying to get on with their everyday lives.

Another UK spec bites the dust
I think this will be the third, on my blue Zed. JeffTT did it just after I bought the car - and then did another 6 years ago, when the water-pump failed.

Why......??
https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/audi/tt/105191/audi-tt-set-to-morph-into-all-electric-crossover?_mout=1&utm_campaign=autoexpress_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter This is a real shame... I'm not an Audi fan, but I do like the latest TT (in RS guise); but this is a sad indictment of where cars are going. Apparently no-one wants sports cars anymore - just MPVs and cross-overs.... Really? Mercedes is killing off the SLC at the end of the year - for pretty much the same reason.... I know sports cars always sell in far smaller quantities - and manufacturers make their money on bread-and-butter variants, but we need companies like Audi keeping options open, for those who want an affordable, hedonistic, fast and fun sportscar. In the dull world of practical motors for ferrying the children and dogs etc., there are still dinosaurs out there who have neither (like me...) who don't want to follow the crowd. Hopefully MB will bring out the new planned mid-engined, small AMG coupe/roadster next year - the guy in my local dealership said it's likely to happen - which will hopefully keep options open, in the quality sports-car market....:clover:

Another UK spec bites the dust
Exactly... I'm taking my Zed down to Jimmer's in two weeks time, so may ask him to fit the new window for me whilst it's there. If he has the time, that is... ….On top of the cambelt, service, ABS sensor, AC regas….
-
Another UK spec bites the dust
I have been meaning to try that too - and I seem to remember Andy (Phutumsch) recommending a compound some time ago.... But seeing this white Zed being broken, I thought it prudent to buy the window anyway - as UK spec glass doesn't come up for sale that often!
-
Another UK spec bites the dust
Probably because it gets used more than the passenger side - and previous owners were not as diligent as us, when cleaning the car. I periodically give the inner edge of the window rubbers a wipe over with silicone, if only to keep them from getting mossy and ensure they remain supple.
