  1. As winter is almost upon us and the ZX is virtuly undriveable in snow etc I now have a winter car for my daily 50 mile round-treck through the Chilterns. Just got a Rav-4. Good buy too - V reg, FSH, 63k miles for £5000. Luckily it's also black so it doesn't look too girly :o Still, may add a bull-bar just to make sure :D However I'm full of remorse now as I bought the ZX to drive, not leave in the garage :( I don't know if I will be able to resist the urge to use the ZX........... Have I done the right thing? Richard :)
  2. There's a 5 star hotel in Brum??????? :D :x:
  3. JBL do a nice direct replacement - only £49.99 from Halfords. They work pretty well with the stock amp too, a few of us here have done that (easy) upgrade Richard
  4. On this subject, I remember an article in Lax Power or similar when I used to read it years ago  about some knobber who used.........wait for it.........a pair of stockings!!!!!! :slap: :nono: Seriously, he put the light fitting inside (his mums??) a stocking and bolted it back into place!!!! Richard :D
  5. Switch the lights off on your way out........... ;) Richard :D
  6. Do'h I missed that one
  7. Same one as the Lambo Diablo........ ;) :D
  8. UK cars will be fine on 95RON U/L though...... ;)
  9. Well everyone has covered just about all you need to know!! Most ZXs are essentially reliable but any high performance car over 10 years old will need thing replacing sooner or later. I use mine every day for a 50 mile round trip to work and it's been fine. The only major wear and tear damage I've suffered is of my credit card in one of Shell's fine outlets ;) Still I don't care - if I'd wanted economy I'd have bought a diesel..... Get a good one - best to buy one from a forum member IMO - and you'll not have any problems. Buy a cheap one and it WILL cost you  It is a good all round GT car with good performance, handling (in the dry at least) and looks to make the Scoob and Skyline GTS fade into insignificance. Good hunting mate Richard :D
  10. Rock-wise, I've seen Metallica, Bon Jovi, Faith no More and Thunder But the one I'm gutted about......I had a ticket to see Queen at Knebworth back in '86 (IIRC), but that very day I flew back from a holiday in Ibiza and my flight was delayed   I landed at Gatwick an hour after the concert started and missed it. A never to be repeated experience  Richard :(
  11. RichardS replied to a post in a topic in General Discussions - Non 300ZX
 I did warn them...... :x: Richard ;)
  12. Or gheisha-girl's panties ;)
  13. A car wash!!!!!! Why - a decent hand job, sorry, wash!! :D is only a pound or so more than most automated paint-strippers now ;) So you've no excuse :( Richard :x:
  14. Now I agree that I'm not that enlightened on the science of oils but I always believed that both numbers refered to viscosity. IE the 1st number being the viscosity when cold (hence the "W") and the 2nd when hot. Which is why I believed a "X"w40 was thinner than a "X"w60 at high temps. I'm sure someone will know the facts but I'll not accept it here - you all have different opinions and that is just what they are..... All I know is that my ZX is not used in competition and is not heavily modified and doesn't run at increased temperature. Nissan recommend a 10w40 and developed the TT engine using it. I'm therefore happy running 5w40 fully synth in my engine as it seems happy. It consumes next to no oil, doesn't rattle and the pressure when hot is spot on. The car has done 76K miles with all servicing by Nissan up to 60K (using their own choice - probably 10w40) and by a specialist afterwards (using my choice of 5w40). Richard :x:
  15. There are plenty of decent ZXs for sale here at the moment. I'd walk away and look elsewhere Richard ;)
  16.  Seriously though ( or as serious as possible after a few Stellas.....sweeeet!!) try spraying the wiper mechanism with WD40 and clean the screen with RainX or something similar and the squeek will disappear as if by magic......... Otherwise just turn up the stereo - my wipers don't squeek and never have  Richard ;)
  17. Other easy differences to spot.... UK cars have Nissan badges, imports have Z badges on the nose section UK cars have washer jets for the headlights UK cars have the normal type rear number-plate and rear fogs in the rear bumper either side of the no-plate. Imports have square rear no-plates and no integral rear fogs UK cars have a normal 17 digit VIN number - imports have a much shorter number Richard
  18. I said it once.......!!!!! :x: :nelson: Richard :D
  19. Is that Jay's? Richard :hyper:
  20. Hi Mate I'd keep the ZX and buy another car too..... ......But if you are looking at an M3, they are pretty good cars. Prices have taken a bashing too - there are 4 door cars on Autotrader with A decent coupe stil holds its value though - there are a lot of rough ones around. Richard :D
  21. Millers also do a 5w40 fully synth (XFS, I believe it is called). Mike Feeney sells this at around £25 for 5 litres. I used this in my ZX last service. No rattles, good pressure when hot and very little consumption. Richard :smw:
  22. Very smooth  gives it an updated look Richard :)
  23. True!! :D My last one was an imported black GT ltd edition targa-top. Came with a full LCD dash just like K.I.T.T. too - how much more 80's cool do you need ;) :hyper: Richard ;)
  24. No, in stock form the Mk3 Supra turbo will whip an s13 in a straight line. (0-60 in 6.1, 100 in under 16 and a 50-70 time not too far behind a ZX). They don't handle badly either - OK they're a bit lardy but with decent springs and tyres they do grip well. I had 2 before my ZX and loved them to bits. you can pick one up quite cheaply now - average £1-1.5K but good ones still fetch a bit more. Fensport do some decent tuning mods at reasonable prices. Get the head gasket sorted (only weakness - head bolts were not tightened down enough in the factory, consequently if this is not corrected early the HG will go around 60-70K miles) Very reliable too..... Richard :D
