Strictly Come Dancing
Come on guys - it's a waste of licence payers' money and the only way to stop this shite on prime time TV is if everyone stops watching it :x: Richard ;)

I saw a Supra yesterday...
The Supra is a great car. Toyota took so long to develop it as they had to better the 300ZX :p They are very fast, handle very well and probably never go wrong  ....... They just don't have the visual appeal of the ZX or even the 3000GT, but they do look fine in black or silver. But kitted ones all look pants IMO - leave them standard, save for a set of 18 inch wheels. Richard :)

My first Zed

Insurance company trying to rape me!!!!
You sure about that? I've only just insured my ZX with Carole Nash (13/11/04) on a classic policy for under £300. No problems or hidden nasties - they just had to check with the insurer about the induction kit and non-standard alloys. Richard :)

compomotive wheels
Hi Tulip If your tyres are good and you want to buy new wheels of the same size I would go for 8x17 ffront and 9 or 9.5x17 rear. Get in touch with Dave at DT Motorsport on http://www.dtmotorsport.co.uk They are UK importers of the Azev wheels - very good quality German metal and they will get you a set drilled and casted just to fit your ZX. 17 inch Azev A's (see my rides for my own ZX) will set you back around £125-£150 per corner. ZX Advice please!
Hi Gemmau Remember the ZX is not mid-engined and weighs about 250kg more than Mister 2 so it won't feel quite as agile..... .....having said that if the suspension is in good order or has been uprated it will handle just fine. The ZX is a GT car (in the same ilk an an XKR or Pork 928) not a pure sports car (like the 911). It was designed for comfortable, very fast cruising for 2 people and their (limited) luggage. I reckon it is a good step-up from an MR2, it is a great driver's car. It may not be as advanced or polished as the Mk4 Supra but it has a heart and soul and according to Evo mag it is the enthusiast's choice. My favourite aspect is the mid-range grunt. That torque goes on and on - brilliant for fast safe overtaking. You really can exploit any little gap in oncoming traffic when the turbos are singing in tune  Richard

What estate car to buy?
Hi Shrimpo I'd go with the Volvo T5 too OK it looks like a brick with windows but it is still fast. The V40 T4 is pretty fast too. You can pick up decent ones for pennies now...... ....plus if anyone tries to cut you up you can just floor it and surprise them with how fast they are. They'll be pi55ed off at being done by a Volvo estate. Oh yeah, you can take up antique dealing at week-ends too :D  Richard ;)

Best Bond theme ?
Have to go with this one too..... ....closely followed by "Licence to Kill" - although that clash of cymbal after the word "kill" makes Gladys sound like she's singing "Licence to Kilt!!". Fekking annoying  Richard :)

Insurance for 2 cars
Ditto, with 6000 miles p/a and I'm allowed to drive it to work if I want to :hyper: . Loads of companies will offer a "matched NCB" anyway even if you are not with them, you just can't protect it. I had my ZX as a daily driver insured with Lifesure until I got my Rav. Lifesure offered to insure the Rav with another max NCB, as did a few other companies (eg Direct Line, Bell Direct) but it was cheaper to switch my main policy to the Rav and insure the ZX as a classic. The other advantage is if I offload the Rav later I can just switch the ZX back to my main car and cancel the classic policy which won't mean too much of a loss as it was cheap in the first place.... Good luck Richard ;)

Supra vs 300zx
I had 2 Mk3 turbo'd Supras before the ZX. The Mk3 was a great car in it's day and is still quick enough to hold it with many high performance cars...........except the 300ZX :D My last one was a J-spec GT Ltd edition targa. With only one cat and a K&N filter is pushed out a healthy 250-260bhp compared to the 232 of a UK car but it was still no match for my stock ZX TT auto. I had the TEMS suspension (only available on Jap cars) with uprated springs plus 245/40/17 + 225/45/17 Mich pilot sports so it handled very well.....again the Z is way better on the straights, round corners, every way really. The ZX is a much more up to date design which was way ahead of its time. It was undisputed king of all japanese high performance cars until the appearance of the Mk4 Supra. Yes in Uk guise the Mk4 is faster and steers/handles better, but true enthusiasts still rate the ZX as the better driver's car. Richard

Whats your favourite Album ever?
You see a car like a Z and you just expect the driver to listen to rock music  I rarely listen to anything else when driving. I find Guns N Roses always helps me get home from work quicker...... ......still can't work out why  :D Richard ;)

Who likes these?
I used to have a series II XJ6 4.2 Dead nice car - 1974 N reg, Indigo blue with biscuit leather and loads of chrome. It looked like a bank robber's car from The Sweeney :D Only cost me £75 to insure on a classic policy too - cheaper than a fill-up  I remember the day I got it, back in 1996. It cost me over £75 to fill both tanks for the long drive home and whilst cruising down the A1 at 80-ish the fuel guage needle dropped with each mile   Great car though - I only sold it last year so it was officially the car I've owned the longest ;) Richard :smw:

Why don't zx's sell?
True...... :x: Plus it's a bad time to sell a sports coupe - 4X4s are the best sellers this time of year owing to the onset of winter. Richard :)

300zx fuel fault?
They will, if it needs replacing - the :xxx: Plus they will replace it with the same part which will go wrong again :( Best bet for replacement is to find a series 2 part either from somewhere here on the forum or from Courtesy Nissan, Texas. IIRC Nippon UK charge around £250+vat for the part, but they cost less than half that from Courtesy for the new version which lasts. Richard :)

wiper blades with 'flange'
Doesn't your driver's side wiper arm have a built-in flange?? Or is that just UK cars  All this talk of "flaps" and "flange"........must be time for bed, methinks :D :D Richard :D

How heavy are your alloys?
Can't really explain the effect on car's performance (Too much wine with dinner this evening :D ) but when I bought my Azevs (8x17 and 9.5x17) they felt way lighter than the stock ones. I was surprised as to just how light they were...... Richard :)

300zx fuel fault?
My thoughts too...... Richard :)

Congrat's to Steveo
Yup - all the best Stevo :) Richard :smw:

Guess what i drove this weekend??
BMW - nice looker, but unless you get the 5.6litre CSI they are too slow and heavy. I would buy a Soop too :o , but only a last of line UK version as they are better than the imports. I wouldn't spend more than £15K though. A guy on my road has a Paramount Performance XKR  . I hear it every morning as he flies off to work - it looks awsome lowered on 20inch alloys, de-chromed with mesh grill in the front. Sounds as good as a TVR as he boots it too :D XK series are meant to be reliable these days as well :) Richard

Guess what i drove this weekend??
Too slow, mate.... :D Read post #18 Richard :)

Headlights
If you don't fancy the cost of HID upgrade then do the conversion to H3 bulbs as the UK car has. Then get yourself a pair of Osram Super +30% H3 bulbs. PIAAs are good but cost between £30 and £40. The Osrams are every bit as good - in fact I think they are actually better as they give less glare in rain but only cost £14.50 a pair from http://www.powerbulbs.com inc.P&P Richard :)

Guess what i drove this weekend??
I have to admit this is the only car I would replace the ZX with at the moment, Both fast comfortable stylish GT cars. OK there are other such exotica, Aston and the like, but the difference is I can actually afford an XKR. A decent sub-50k miler XKR can be had for around £23K...... :) Richard :)
