Drinking and Driving
I voted for "stay the same" I do not drink at all if I'm driving - the old "well you can have just one or perhaps 2 and be below the limit" is just b0ll0x. Have that one pint, drive home and hit someone on the way, then say the drink did not affect you  However I do not believe a "zero alcohol" in the blood limit is workable. Many things (like cooking sauces, desserts etc) contain a mere trace of alcohol which currently have no effect on the breathalyser, or your driving ability, but if there was a zero limit would show up and result in a ban. The current limit is fair - however when a driver may be "just under" the limit but is at fault in an RTA then the police and CPS should have the powers to insist the alcohol in his/her system was excessive and prosecute accordingly, despite the readings. Richard :)

Hi Mark I tried the 55w that are supposed to give the output of 85w jobbies. Richard

This is the right one!! http://www.autostylin.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=81_84&products_id=122 Richard :)

bulb upgrade
No, those are the horrid yellow tinted ones for fog lamps. I guess they have sold out of the "super" H3. Try either http://www.autostylin.co.uk or http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk instead HTH Richard :)

Colour coded headlamp surrounds?????
I like that look too - especially the red. It shouldn't mess with the beam pattern either, as the stock set-up is non-reflective grey..... Richard

bulb upgrade
Hi mate Do the UK-spec conversion first so you can fit H3 bulbs....... ....I have tried a few types in my UK ZX (not higher wattage versions though - didn't want to fry the wiring :o ), Halfords +30%, Phillips +30% Osram super +30% and PIAA Platinum white. PIAAs are good but cost around £30-£40 a pair and TBH are not worth it. Halfords are OK but shite compared to the others mentioned Phillips are better but the Osrams are better IMO. Light dispersion is better than PIAAs as PIAAs have a blueish coating that loses light through the opaque lenses of the ZX dipped beam. Plus the PIAAs give too much glare in fog/bad weather. Osrams are only £14.50 from http://www.powerbulbs.com which is also less than half the cost of PIAAs. It also helps if you get the aim set correctly as well :D If you want a pair of Phillips +30% you can mine free of charge - I bought them 2 weeks ago, I put them in for 2 days then found I already had a set of Osrams I bought earlier, which I'm now using. PM me your address - I'll cover the post too as it's Christmas.....:) Richard :smw:

Time to take the pi55
No piss taking from me either - I like the Supra, it's a great car (but still ugly compared to a ZX though :D ) Good luck with it..... Richard :)

Keep the Z or get an Elise
Heh heh, I did think that too Stu, but as this is a ZX forum everyone would expect me to say it ;) (plus any "visitors" would think I was being arrogant - let's check the Corsa/Nova forums, I bet a few of them will claim their car could do it  ) Also a ZX still holds that 260mph record, doesn't it? Richard :D

Keep the Z or get an Elise
That's got to be a way better alternative to an elise Richard :smw:

Vote - Ban for speeding twice?
I like the way the variable limit on the M25 works, IN PRINCIPLE. More traffic = lower speed limit. (although why the feck there was a 50mph limit a couple of Sundays ago, 8 in the morning and me plus 1 other car around I'll never know. I guess they were expecting me out in the ZX, just waiting for me to reach 60 to blot my licence  ) But i think it should work in reverse when traffic subsides. Bring this system in on all m-ways, raising to a maximum of say 90 in clear, dry empty conditions and dropping to 40 in heavy traffic, dense fog etc. Plus educate drivers to drive safer and more aware of the conditions & surroundings. I have driven on m-ways in France and Italy and the general standards are better than here. Italy has a 160km/h (100mph) limit now and their m-ways are only 2 lanes, but the mandatory limit lowers right down for urban m-ways or near several junctions, or in severly bad weather. plus the police get traffic moving again quickly after an accident. Their main priority after safety/care of victims is maintaining traffic flow. Never happens here. PC plod take all day to clear an m-way, they spend hours measuring & investigating the cause so someone can be blamed. Rant over.... As for tyre blow-outs I had the misfortune to have the N/S rear of the ZX go at 80+mph. The car didn't bat an eyelid and stayed straight. I was lane-changing at the time - pissed me off as the wheel got dented by a cat's eye during the manouver :o Richard :)

Zmas Presents
Nothing! ;) My ZX is fine and wants for nothing (he says crossing fingers!) so I'm going to treat myself to a shiney new Omega Seamaster watch  ..... ......Although I may just go for the HID upgrade :hyper: Richard :D

first black bond...????
It was fine until that computer-generated tacked-on waterboarding scene. the whole essence of Bond was genuine stunts, JB as the hero and the women as co-stars. Now this will seem un-PC and I'm all for equality etc. but the women taking "equal roles" in Bond movies takes the pi55 IMO. Us fellas have very little male only bolt-holes, bastions and avenues of escape left as it is because we are expected to allow women into ever aspect of our lives/activities (I mean women are allowed "women only" pursuites but if we suggest anything is "men only" we get called sexist and mysoginist etc FFS). Leave our Bond films alone. And let Pierce Brosnan continue for a bit - he does a fine job considering. Then when he hangs up his gun I vote for Dougray Scott or Clive Owen. Lets go back to the original theme of Bond. Cars, stunts women and plenty of killing mixed in with some good one-liners. Richard ;)

fuel hose size
Word of warning...... Make sure you get high pressure fuel hose - hose for regular cars is not up to the job because the fuel pressure in a ZX is fekking high! Richard :)

Keep the Z or get an Elise
Esprit is the ONLY lotus I'd have. I thought about getting one but question the reliability. 5th gear bought a nice V8 Esprit this week as a 200mph project car - a good low mileage looked after example but the gearbox completely fell apart on the drive home :o :( Honestly if they wanted to build a 200mph project car why a Lotus - I'd have gone Japanese - Skyline or (dare I say it) Poopra. The straight 6 engines are easily tuneable to 1000bhp and should give 200mph  Richard :smw:

Heh heh..... .... No, I'll be OK as most of them actually live here at the minute ;) Richard :D

300 or Skyline
IMO the Skyline GTR is one hell of a car - brilliant in all respects......except maybe looks. But the GTS is simply the poor wannabe relation. Given a choice between a GTS and a ZX it would have to be the ZX hands down. I would even chose the 3000GT above the GTS :x: Richard :)

Keep the Z or get an Elise
The Elise is not really my bag baby......... I do like the idea of a small chuckable car for fun but not regular use. It would be fine for track use but I prefer the fast comfortable GT car. The only thing I would replace my ZX with is the Jag XKR supercharged. Sure I'd love a DB9 or even DB7 V12 vantage, but I can actually afford a decent XKR....... ......maybe next year as I still love my ZX  Richard :)

Power Steering Fluid Change
  That's what I like to hear - a girl not afraid of breaking a nail or two...... .....Shouldn't be too difficult Richard :)

Now this is what's really wrong with this fekking country. The 30mph limit was brought in when the average cars like morris minors etc were all the rage. With their crappy drum brakes they could barely stop from 30mph in a 1/4 of a mile FFS. Most modern cars with ABS, even some without it, can stop from 60mph in a shorter distance so what do this fekking anti-car tree hugging @rse fvcking government do?? Introduce 20mph limits  WHY  They are happy to let real criminals walk the streets robbing the elderly and molesting children though :x: They should just pull their d*cks out of each other's @rses and get a grip on running this country sensibly, giving priority to things which really matter..... That idea to emigrate to Oz looks more attractive each day Richard :(

ZX Advice please!
Hi Gemmau If you get a UK car then standard unleaded is fine - the only difference you'll get with Optimax is a little better MPG, but not enough to make the extra cost worth any more, it will still work out even (Just don't use BP - it's crap, I get 240 miles from a tank of Shell regular compared to around 210 from BP :x: ) Imports will benefit from Optimax though. As for tyres Goodyear Eagle GDS3 - the best rubber you'll ever buy  . Not just my opinion - a few of us here swear by them. Plus Evo mag tested them and declared them the best high performance tyres in the world..... HTH Richard

Rather irritating rear spoiler
Seconded :D The stock item absorbs water which will then leak into the tailgate and rot it from the inside. Mike Feeney at MJP also sells them. It's a much better alternative as the boot opens easier because it's lighter than before.... .....no water absorbtion :D Richard :smw:

Goose Honk!
It's a common symptom when an induction kit is fitted. Mine does it when coming off the gas after moderate accelleration. The easiest cure is turning the stereo up - I find Axl Rose can dampen such noises :D Richard ;)

Squeel on Start Up.
It could also be the cam-belt tensioner. Not a major problem, just annoying. Wait until the cam belt needs changing otherwise it's an expensive repair. The part isn't cheap anyway - about £250 from Nissan UK  but the labour to remove the front of the engine.....  Richard :smw:

Why is it when I try and fix a problem I end up with another!
Could just be a coincidence..... ....ie you fixed the speedo problem, but now your speed sensor has bitten the dust  Richard :nelson:
