oil change
With the filter change on my UK spec TT it takes exactly 4 litres to reach full...... .....Just as Willie O says. Manuals aren't always right, especially from non-Nissan sources. Halfords spec sheets are constantly wrong with data on the ZX  Richard :)

Dodgey headlights.....Help
If you have a UK car then the connection could be faulty leaving one light on "dim-dip" with the sidelights. Richard :)

Why I love my ZX - reason 100000000
As above...... .....Since I bought the Rav-4 I've been using it most days for my 25 mile a-road (single carriageway) treck to work each day, saving the ZX for weekends and holiday trips. I took the ZX to work today, now usually in the dark it has recently been taking me 40 minutes to get home...... .....However in the ZX it took me ......just over 25 minutes to cover he 25 miles   Overtaking the tossers who amble along at 40mph on the dark 60mph A413 was a breeze - no one held me up as the ZX flew past everyone at 80mph, exploiting every small gap in oncoming traffic. Feck fuel consumption, winter weather, etc I really have missed the ZX.... Richard

Banning Xmas
Can't we just blame the Americans instead ;) Gotta love this thread - if we all think the same way, then so must the majority of others in theory...... ......How come we can't seem to make a difference  Richard

nzr xenon look bulbs
Quite right..... .....Auto Express did a test on various bulbs and their conclusion was that all blue bulbs, even the "mighty" PIAA jobbies are shite. The blue coating seriously robs the light output. Osram and Phillips +30 or 50% are the absolute best bulb upgrades you can fit. They give a clear white light that actually works well, not the cosmetic "Lax Power" look. For your ZX, with the opaque projector beam lenses, blue bulbs would worse than stock - so not a good idea... Richard :smw:

Freezing my bo11ox off here
Hi all Wife has gone to her works Christmas party, so I thought "I know, I'll watch a classic Bond movie - you know the old ones that were good, before they started making them for girls ;) ). " Anyway, kneeling down by the video I suddenly smelt gas.........It's coming from the pipe that sticks out of the floorboards and connects to the fire. The fire we haven't used in 7 years as we use the central heating. Feck it - phoned Transco emergency line, now I have turned off the gas at the main (so no heating) and opened the windows like I was told. No gas = no heating and it's cold......... Can't switch any appliances on or off either, just in case, so no TV either - lucky i left the computer on earlier eh? Richard

Banning Xmas
You mean Tory government, mate ;) And yes, whilst that is true, most of these absurd decisions came from "looney" left-wing think tanks that were rife in Labour-run inner city councils during the Conservative's time in office. I do not wish to get political here as the way I vote is personal and I won't inflict my views on others. However correct me if I'm wrong but seems it has always been un-PC or unacceptable to harbour even slightly right-wing views. Die-hard Tories are branded racist, eliteist, xenophobic etc etc but we live in a free country?? "Lefties" always whinge about the evils of the "right" even now they are in power and the right wingers let them - after all freedom of speech etc. But as soon as anyone expresses a right-wing view, the lefties seek to censor them. These whingers won't be happy until we live in a completely Orwellian society of nannying and control. Sorry - rantings of a madman here. Musn't get upset it will soon be annual gift-time (Oh I mean Christmas  ;) ) Richard :D

Banning Xmas
This is so true........ Back to what I said about the anti-fun brigade - bunch of miserable communist lowlife ;) My old boss was (still is, probably ;) ) Jewish yet he still participated in the whole Christmas thing at work - parties etc and giving/receiving Christmas cards. Most normal people just get on and enjoy life. If hunting foxes is banned, I say we should hunt the PC brigade for sport instead. To the death  :D Richard

Banning Xmas
Fekking PC crap - these idiots want shooting  This is still a vastly predominantly Christian country, we let all other religions celebrate their festivals without any fuss yet these PC anti-fun to55ers still kick up a fuss about Christmas   Now I'm not a Christian myself, nor do I follow any other of the religions, but I still celebrate this time of year albeit it has a different meaning for me. Let's ban all forms of political correctness and get on with life - the majority of people couldn't give a shit about who believes what and certainly do not get offended just because one group of people celebrate one thing and they don't. These are the same PC bast@rds who think driving is bad and want everything that normal people enjoy banned, so we can all be as miserable as they are. :xxx: Rant over :slap: Richard

rear light bulb
They do sell them in Halfords, just they are not listed in their "book"..... ....Probably a good thing as they think the ZX has H1 bulbs in both dip and main beam lights FFS!! Anyway, an Oneday says, they are just regular twin filament brake/side light bulbs. remove your old one and go back to Halfords. ;) Richard

99` spec rear bumper
I don't think there was a different one? The 99 spec car did have a nice slightly raised rear spoiler though and some came with nice subtle body-kit. Richard :)

oooooooooo check this
Agree totally.... .....best front end by far is the 99 spec one  Richard ;)

nsx into f50
I did have my doubts about half way down the page, as the "before" car looked pretty good. The result was damn good though, but I would have left off the Ferrari badge ;) Richard

Reckon this works ?.....
I have this book too - a useful read whilst on the bog  I agree with what Jock says - best approach if you get pulled over is not to be a smart-arse and listen to the copper. Only if he gets arsy with you and has already decided/started to give you a ticket, may it then be fine to spout the rights and wrongs mentioned within the book. Besides the book was written by an ex-copper who retired a while back, so this fekking government would probably have closed many of these loopholes now........... Richard :smw:

Today I have mostly been cooking my rear lights.
Very nice job mate - and cheaper than the 99-spec light units too  Richard :)
-
Is it just mine or..........
Spot on..... My ZX, Rav-4 and Corsa all do this too  The size and sound of the "whoosh" depend on how empty the tank is and how fast I have been driving prior to opening the cap. It is perfectly normal Richard

which make tyres for winter?
Summer or winter - for our cars it doesn't matter if you get a decent quality brand tyre in the first place. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 and they are the best tyres I have ever had  Looks like you can get them for a decent price too - snap them up, mate! Richard :)

gto prices against zx
Another possibility is that the GTO being a 4WD will be better for the winter months. The ZX with its targa-tops is a summer car. Most decent ZXs within 100 miles of me are still £4-5000+ There are also some cheap GTOs about too so the spread is a little more even..... Richard :)

Headlights?
Yes. It's dead easy, there are 4 adjusting screws on the back of each light unit under the bonnet. 2 for main beam and 2 for dipped. 1 does left-right and the other does up-down. Best bet is to get an MOT testing garage to set them properly for best light distribution. Many here complain about the crappy lights on dipped, but decent bulbs plus the proper set-up make one hell of a difference. Richard :)

aerial probs
Could be the aerial relay. I had a similar problem so I got another from AndyZ, replaced it and it's worked fine since. The relay is a white-ish cigarette pack size box that bolts to the R/H wheel-arch just under the boot trim panel. Richard :)

are all non-turbos imports???
This is true - especially as some insurance companies still load the premiums for imports. You may find a UK spec TT costs the same, if not less, to insure than a J-spec N/A....... take your time and find a good one, whichever model you chose and it should prove reliable. I used my UK spec TT every day - 50 miles per day - until I bought a 4x4 for winter recently, and it was always reliable. Good hunting - plenty of nice ones for sale here at present...... ;) Richard

Aerial Connection
I thought the connector in the car's loom was the "2-pronged" type not just a different size  It was in my UK spec car - looked like a much smaller version of the continental mains electric plugs  Richard :D
