Mongoose exhaust question
Can anyone with one of these please tell me, how loud is it? I have been chatting to Luke at Z centre about his brilliant offer - £475 all in and delivered, for either the regular one or the new one with a 6x4 oval each side. Basically I do not want it to be too loud inside the car and definatley don't want a constant "boom" at motorway speeds..... ....your comments please :D Oh and votes on which one looks best - the 6x4 ovals or the quad "stock" look...... Thanks Richard

Not sure what to do??? (please help)
Sorry to hear that :( Glad you're OK though..... If you hit at 50mph I doubt the car would be the same again after repair TBH. You should just take the insurance money and buy another ZX IMO - there are plenty of good ones for sale here at the mo. Try to buy the salvage back from the insurers and keep the best bits, break the rest of the car and sell the bits to make a bit more cash towards your new one. Good luck mate Richard

Outside trim question.
I think you could fill the spaces with a lead based filler - I remember an old Max Power feature Golf VR6, where the guy totally smoothed the body using this. The reason being lead flexes with the bodywork and doesn't crack........ To tidy up my black trim I used black football boot polish - £1.95 from Sainsburys :o worked a treat though and it's water-resistant!!! Richard

Tough Decision
Depends on how much driving you would do for work. If you would do a lot of travelling, I agree with Trinity - take the company car and rent a garage for the ZX. Just get a low emission diesel car and the tax is pretty low. If you won't be doing loads of miles ask for the money instead. I could have had a car with my new job, an A4 or BM 320 TDi - the benefit was around 18% of the list price IIRC. But it was purely a perk - I don't travel for work, just home to office so I kept the ZX and took £500 per month car allowance instead. Richard

Newbie Need Help
Hi Tom The auto and manwell performance are virtually identical - some say the manual is marginally quicker to 60 but the auto quicker to 100. But it is a pretty close call. I drove both versions before buying and found nothing between them. I only bought an auto because that particular car was the best example I saw. Richard :D

dunlop tyres
My local branch of Merit Tyres http://www.merityre.co.uk can supply and fit 255/40/zr17 Goodyear F1 GSD3s for £126 each. I thought that was pretty good Richard :D

What's the diameter of standard TT front discs?
I don't think many here would recommend EBC. A very good stock upgrade are Brembo slotted discs from http://www.3gbrakes.co.uk and Stillen metal pads from Mike Feeney at MJP. That set-up won't cost too much either. If you have deep pockets then the Skyline upgrade is probably the ultimate option. Richard ;)

water dumping
Don't know about on a ZX but when my old Mk3 Soop did this it was a blown head gasket  Hope it's not the same for a ZX...... Richard

mot question
Yes........ ......if you can find someone willing to buy it without one of course. The new owner will need to get an MOT immediately if they have to tax it though and their insurance will not be valid for driving it away unless they have trade plates :nono: Richard

Advice wanted on newly purchased (well nearly) Z.
Sounds like a good one - good luck with it mate. Once you have it, the best money you will ever spend is £20 here for the subscription. The help and advice is invaluable and you can save way more than that with special offers from traders and group buys. Welcome to the drug that is the 300ZX   Richard

Think we've p!$$ed max power off!!!
That explains why all these spotty Paxo drivers think they can do a ZX off the lights :xxx:  I did remember a supplement a few years back listing their top 10 cars to buy and modify. That feature on the ZX gave the 0-60 time at 5.4 secs, so they did their homework that time............. Don't care what they print TBH - we know the truth after all  Richard

N. 300z / T. Supra / M. GTO
I also looked at and drove all three before I bought my ZX. It was a close thing, (very close thing) between the 300zx and Supra. The GT was just too heavy with too much lag to cut in the mid-range overtaking speeds. The 4wd was good, though but I prefer rolling performance to immediate grip off the line as it is more useful for my driving needs. As Ronflat says the late spec GT is the best looking of the GTOs. The Supra is a great car - then it should be as Toyota had to spend years developing it, in order to better the 300zx. It is much more modern but IMO too "polished" resulting in a less involving driving experience. And it is ugly  The ZX is the best looking in a clean, classic kind of way and has definately aged better than the others. Whilst the UK Supra is quicker out of the box (it is 320BHP stock and a few kgs lighter than a ZX) the ZX felt the better drivers car. The ZX was ultimately the best value as 2 years ago a decent UK Soop would have cost me at least £12k but my ZX was half that  Take a drive and make your own choice - you won't be disappointed with whatever you end up with :) Richard

HID conversion advice

Need help with PC virus please......
One for the IT chappies here I think, I appear to have a virus I can't seem to kill - on the PC that is  it is called Lazarus.2222 and lives at c:\WINDOWS\system32\indexindicator.exe ?? Symantec/Norton thingy has found it OK and keeps popping up the warning but it can't access the file - message "file access denied" appears when the anti-virus s/w tries to quarantine or kill it?? Computer seems to be working OK still. Any ideas how to get rid of it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Richard :(

HeLp..Valve Broken..need metal type
Demon Tweeks sell the metal type valves, bolt ins etc..... ......I'm a little surprised the hole in the wheel is smaller - I always thought valves were a standard size diameter?? Richard

Done the rear..........
Have to agree - leave it off :hyper: Richard :D

Who said you cannot get much in a zed
Nice Pics Jay, I like Dartmoor too - Two Bridges Hotel near Yelverton is worth a stay  380 miles to a tank!!!! I've never had more than 290 and I thought that was good  Richard :D

Why remove the rear wheel steering???
Have to agree with Harve so far.... ....Thrashing down a twisty B road, hitting a tight bend a bit too fast....then just when you think you might lose it the HICAS steers the rear wheels and all is well  I don't think it removes all the driving pleasure and skill in the way a 3000GT/GTO does - after all the ZX is widely acknowledged as the superior driver's car. It just adds a bit of security and enables progressive cornering. I can't comment on track use or where the car is modded to very high BHP though but with a good, working stock set up I think it is just fine Richard ;)

Wipers?
I guess you would know working in a car spares shop :D But I swear the fronts are different sizes (plus on the UK spec, there is already a big spoiler on the driver's side wiper arm, so no spoiler blade needed) Never replaced the back one though........ Oh yeah, and Halfords are fekking expensive for the Bosch jobbies :nono: Richard ;)

Around Town
As above really.... ...The ZX is essentially a reliable car - it's a Nissan afterall. But like any 10-15 year old high performance car, it will need looking after properly and without doubt some parts will require replacement to ensure no problems will arise. If you compare it to any car of the same breed and age - Porsche 928, Jag XJS, Merc SL etc, the ZX will be a bargain :D Good luck Richard
