  1. Sorry to hear that mate  Just don't let her drive the ZX in future :( :headvswal Richard ;)
  2. I took mine off on the way back from the MOT yesterday, for the first time this year. I had a few errands to run and would normally have used the Rav but driving the ZX in the sun felt sooooo good I used it most of the day  Richard :)
  3. Kenny, they are not actually speed cameras mate. They are for traffic flow etc. I can personally guarantee this, as since their installation last year I have driven along this stretch, whilst empty, at anywhere between 95 and 1**mph on several occasions and not received one summons through the post. :nono: There was a thread about this last year, as many thought they were the new "specs" cameras. Oh, I agree with BigRoy here. You break the law at your own risk, however I do think that cameras should only be sited solely for accident prevention and not blatant revenue earning. All traps, fixed or mobile, should be easily visible too because surely the idea is to prevent speeding in the first place not just catching those after the event. Richard
  4. That's good news they now do a 5w. 15w is way too thick from cold IMO and I always found their 0w40 as thin as water for some reason  I may go back to using Mobil-1 now ;) Richard :smw:
  5. Took the ZX to a Nissan garage for an MOT today - passed with no problems at all  In fact it caused guite a stir. A mechanic brought his little son into work with him, the little chap was saying how much he liked the silver 350Z in the front of the show-room......... ......until he went into the workshop and saw my ZX. He came out and told me how much he liked my car and that it was "......way better than that silver one......" He wouldn't believe that it was a Nissan until his dad pointed out the badge ;) Richard
  6. Looks like those "car bra" things - the Yanks put them on whilst driving the car to stop stone chips. ;) Richard
  7. How about "..Do you have a mirror in your pocket because I can see myself in your pants?..." or "....my face is leaving in about 5 minutes, I'd like you to be on it?...." Never tried them myself :nono: ;) Although I did get a date with a very pretty American girl some years back with the words "...my god, you're ugly!!..." Then there's always the classic "...you don't sweat much for a fat lass :nelson: ...." Richard
  8. Exactly - the front end of a ZX is one of the best ever..... ....plau as the stock headlights are crap, why cover any part of them and make them worse??? Richard

Well said that man...... ....now I'm back from a short break so I'll see what people have(n't) done in my abscence :smash: Richard ;)
  10. Welcome to the forum  Each fill up - roughly £55 depending on fuel prices - gives me about 235 miles normal driving. That's 25 miles each way to/from work, 20 miles on single c'way A road at 50-80mph with some hard overtaking and 5 miles urban. On a long m-way run at 90-100 I get around 280 from the tank. HTH Richard
  11. Deffo a "he".... :x: ....not meaning to be sexist, but how many women do you know who can park in a parking bay, in one go at normal speeds  Richard
  12. Bad luck Timmy :( But once you check out the other's suggestions re positioning of car, visibility etc you still were speeding before the drop to 40mph - ie 73 in a 60. Hopefully you'll beat it but if you can't the best you can push for would be the 13mph over the 60 limit. Good luck mate Richard
  13. You're not the only one Andy - I didn't bother reading past your post  As I said to a girl I worked with, when her top fell a little low, "If you're selling those puppies I'll have the one with the pink nose :D " Richard

Based on UK testing by WhatCar and AutoCar, stock Uk spec cars, the ZX is faster. Up to 30 the 3000GT is quicker by a tenth or so (initial 4wd grip there), up to 60 the ZX is a couple of tenths quicker but by 100 the ZX has a 2 second advantage. Both have 155 limited top speeds Up to 60 it is close and really down to driver ability and whether the rwd ZX gets its grip down ok. Rolling acceleration (mid-range overtaking) the ZX is quicker - the 3000GT is heavy at 1.8 tonnes and suffers from worse turbo lag. Not just my opinion - countless road tests and comparisons support this too, for any GT owners reading ;) Modified examples - anyone's guess, as you found out. Up the power significantly in the GT and the 4wd grip can prove awsome compared to rwd. Richard :nono:
  15. What ever turns you on mate :D  Richard :x:
  16. Well said that man!!!! BTW, I do know of one car that specifies ONLY Castrol RS 10w60 on its oil cap for what it's worth - the mighty Jaguar XJ220..... I remember the advert for the oil way back in 1991 - ".....Jaguar were so impressed with our oil they built a car especially for it....." Richard :x:

I got there at around 12.15 and waited for half an hour...... Never mind - I gave the ZX a run as I hadn't used it all week due to the snow. Forgot just how good it feels, especially when my right foot hit the floor :hyper: Richard ;)
  18. Alternators are a weakness on the ZX - once 60K miles have passed it's on borrowed time!! (Read that in Jap Performance buyers guide special) ;) Richard :D
  19. No good for our ZXs - the UK spec has electrically adjustable rear shocks only and the J-spec doesn't have adjustable suspension at all. IIRC only the USA spec has the electronically adjusted settings. Richard :D

Explains why no-one was there then ;) See you at the next one :slap: Richard :D
  21. I went from stock wheels to the same as you size and found the overall handling and ride improved. Wider wheels can tramline but different makes of tyres have different feeling. I have Goodyear F1s and the car always drives straight and true at any speed. Way better than the Avons on my stock rims ;) As everyone else says, get the wheel allignment checked and have the wheels re-balanced. Also play around with different tyre pressures, although I have found that even with bigger wheels the stock pressures give the nicest feel. What make of tyres do you have - cheaper brands on a high performance car often won't feel "right" Richard :smw:
  22. That's a good pic :p Richard :nana2:
  23. Nasty :hurl: totally ruined the classic lines of one of the most ageless cars ever..... I do like the wheels and the rear spoiler is not bad if you have to change from stock... :nono: Richard ;)

Very sorry to hear that Mark. But you still need to make a living - good luck with what ever you do. All the best Richard
  25. Hi Allan If you're selling those Lambo lookalikes, how much do you want?? I'd be interested - they really suite a red ZX :hyper: Richard
