New exhaust
Just had a shiney new Blue Flame exhaust fitted today  I bought it from their ebay ad for £350  (+£15 P&P) and my local garage fitted it for £60. Top piece of kit - mechanic was also very impressed with the quality and fit  It looks pretty cool - 4 large chromed tails and sounds good too. Not too loud, just a lower deeper rumble. All in all I'm pretty pleased with it  Richard

Don't know Pete.... ....I've not bought stamps since starting work all those years ago - I just put all my post through the office franking machine  Richard

5-40 or 10-60 - no wars please
Wrong way round there mate - the first is the cold viscosity number. "W" is for winter hence 10w means the winter viscosity so a lower first number is better from the cold start. ;) Richard :nana2:

Women???
Heh heh, Yesterday after mowing the lawn, I was reeling the extension cable back indoors whilst simultaneously admiring the ZX in front of the garage. I had been in a fixed state of staring for at least 5 minutes when Juila reminded me of her presence. She actually asked whether I loved her of the ZX more... ...I replied "You of course, but it is pretty close :D " I meant that as a compliment, knowing how much I actually do love the ZX ;) but fortunately she fully understands  Richard

5-40 or 10-60 - no wars please
Best thing - just try it as it won't do any harm - see how it goes with oil pressure, fuel economy etc etc. I get on fine with 5w40 - stock Uk engine, 78k miles (always get "textbook" pressure even when hot and no noticable consumption through burning) but running with modifications, higher boost etc the extra heat will demand a higher tolerance oil like 10w60. Although as Alex suggested a 10w50 or 5w50 may be fine too... Talk about worms, cans and opening them............ ;) Richard

Powerflow exhaust
Check out ebay at the mo - BlueFlame are selling on there and they do a decent s/steel system similar to the mongoose. Their reserve is £350 (+ £15 carriage) - I've just bought one (getting it fitted 5/5/05 for around £50 by my local garage) and it looks top quality :hyper: I watched them for a couple of weeks - as soon as one sells for the reserve or more he puts another up for auction. Most peeps bid way too low hence I learned the reserve was £350. Give it a go - the Mongoose is £470 delivered from Z Centre and that's fekking cheap. Richard :smw:

the bible.
I personally think a few monks wrote the whole thing after a night on the communion wine...... :slap: ;) Anyhoo - that Jesus fella came back to Earth one day to see what man had f*cked up in the last 2000 years since his demise but no-one believed it was him. To prove it, he decided to walk across the river Thames in the time honoured fashion. He got a couple of paces across and promptly sunk. When the on-lookers dragged him out one sceptic said "I thought you could walk on water - you did in the Bible stories...." "I know I did" said Jesus "But I didn't have these holes in my feet before....." Richard

Women???
Luckily Julia is pretty understanding about my desire to lavish money on my other love, the ZX  OK, she does make the odd comment but that's just to take the piss :nono: We pretty much keep out finances saparate, I pay for all the household running costs, for 2 of the 3 cars and the holidays whilst Julia pays 80-90% of running the 3rd car and buys whatever she wants from her own earnings. Works pretty well really as we have no arguments over money and I get to buy whatever I want without having to ask first  Richard :hyper:

Best looking front bumper.
As the 300ZX was (and still is) one of the best looking cars out of the box, it has to be the 99 spec. It completely enhances the appearance of the car bringing it up to date. It's the only one that looks made for the car (because it actually was ;) ) Richard :nana2: PS Veilside one is complete pants - I imagine fitting one is like waking up after a few beers next to a fat munter - once you've done it, you know you shouldn't have!!! ;)

New side repeaters - are these sh1te?
These are way better than the Focus reps IMO - those triangle jobbies probably wouldn't suit the lines of the ZX. Richard

am i performing correctly?
Isn't stock time for the 1/4 14.4?

brand new £50
That's a very good price - normal retail from Nissan is over twice that ;) Richard :smw:

New battery
Alas my poor battery died the other weekend. I was giving the car a hoover using the car-vac plugged into the ciggie lighter socket. I stopped for 20 mins or so to chat with my neighbour, then went to start the car to put it in the garage again when....nothing :nono: Anyhoo I replaced it with a nice new one from Cafco http://www.cafco.co.uk Only cost £34+vat :hyper: The ZX now runs way better - who'd have thought what a difference a new battery could make :hyper: Richard :D

Radiator cap question...
Hi all I'm sure someone with a physics degree will explain this (alas I've forgotten most of my O-level physics ;) ) but as I've just bought a Nismo 13kg rad cap why is it better for the cooling system than the stock 12kg one? Many thanks Richard :D

What is faster?

What other cars have you?....

To sell or not to sell ??????
 Seriously though mate - all the work you have put into yours just do an engine swap and sell your old engine/'box. The money Zeds are fetching now you would not make much selling the car and would have to do all the body work again. Richard :smw:

FAO Anyone in PERSONNEL
This is right. Your contract is with the company regardless of ownership. Plus on the subject of accruing holiday, your "holiday year" runs from a given date (many companies state the calender year, some run to 31 march - check your contract). At the start of the year you are given your entitlement - in your case 25 days. It is assumed you will be in constant employment for the ensuing year from the first day of the new holiday year so you could in theory take all 25 days from that day and none for the rest of the year. It would only be adjusted if you left part way through a holiday year, when your entitlement would be pro rata'd over the complete months you worked from the start of the holiday year to the date you left. Any difference must be made up (by deduction or addition) from/to your final leaving salary. After the change of ownership you must legally be notified of any such changes to your contract in writing. You then have 30 days to object to individual specific changes in writing to your employer - all aspects you don't object to are taken as agreed. If you do not object within 30 days or simply do not sign it, it is automatically taken that you have agreed it anyway. I also learned this whilst working as an accountant in the profession. Now I am a finance director I attend HR refresher courses run by Peninsular (Top UK HR consultancy firm) to ensure I keep up to date and don't fall foul of the law myself. HTH Richard :smw:

Membership Card wanted by Insurance
Just tell them your username and direct them to the website ;) - like they wouldn't check anyway to see if there's any reference to any modifications you haven't mentioned.......... :nelson: Richard :D

What is faster?
Hang on guys, we've virtually all agreed that a stock Supra TT is quicker than a stock ZX (certainly in UK spec - the J-spec Soops had 280bhp as well, until the later VVT TT engine). Also to compare the performance (not BHP) between UK and US spec ZXs is not like for like - the USA spec TT was an SWB only and therefore at least 100kg lighter. (All US spec 2+2 seaters were the N/A). The exaggeration of USA BHP figure comes from their claims for some home grown yank-tanks. There are loads of claims of their V8 mustangs, Trans Ams etc having 400bhp+ but when they are actually dyno'd they make only 200 or so. Let's not forget most recent Japanese cars are "limited" (yeah right - r34 anyone??) to 280bhp ;) In reality Nissan, Toyota etc just quote the BHP at 280 to satisfy the "gentleman's agreement" when the true BHP is often somewhat higher. :slap: Feck, why am I taking this seriously.......... ;) Richard :hyper: PS I have to agree with Anh about the Mk3 Supra turbo - a very underated car indeed. I had 2 before my ZX and they were a tough act to follow

£20K ... what car?
I've been thinking about an XKR for a couple of months now but there's hardly any difference in performance over the ZX, they don't look any better than the ZX and around here in South Buckinghamshire they are pretty common. So why spend the extra money? ;) I did consider a TVR Cerbera but I hear they are not reliable  Although I have seen on Autotrader, a late-ish model (1994 M) Porsche 928 GTS (the 5.4 litre V8 360bhp monster one) in Midnight blue with cream leather and 50k on the clock for just under £20K. That is a very tempting prospect, one worth giving up the ZX for even......? :slap: Richard :p
