300zx vs mk3 supra ..
I had 2 Mk3 Poopras before my ZX. They were very good cars at the time, but like all cars with pop-up lights they have not aged well. They only really look good in black - must be the knightrider thing...... The ZX still looks fresh and modern even 15 years on. The Mk3 still is quick compared to many so-called performance cars though but the ZX wins hands down And the interior of the Soop, as mentioned above, is a bit of a mis-match whereas the ZX is clean, simple and pleasing to the eye. Would I go back to one? No thanks, I'll keep the ZX Richard

Whats Happened To My Tyres

Did anyone just watch top ten cars on Channel 5?
Since most of the contributors seemed to be American I expected that kind of crap. After all, what do the Yanks know about building a sports car. They never go above 60mph and couldn't turn a corner if their next meal depended on it........ Still, as much as it is not my choice of car, the Pork 911 is a worthy winner simply for its past heritage, current performance and pedigree etc. I reckon the E-type should have been no 2 though.... Small front reg plates
I have a smaller plate on my '99 spec front bumper and have had no probs with PC Piglet or the MOT testers. Mine is the standard depth though, with normal size lettering. It is just shorter so it fits on the raised bit of the bumper. I only have 5 characters in the reg number, hence it all fits perfectly. Richard

where can i hire a 350z ??
That was the convertible - the hard-top is deffo a fine car. Way better than an Audi TT, after all how many times do you drag race on wet sand, thus needing a 4x4? On the road a 350 will stuff an Audi TT. Fact! (Top Gear Mag tested the hard-top versions of the same 3 cars last year and the 350 was the best in every way  ) And we all know the 300ZX can beaqt a 350  Richard :smash:

In all honesty, how reliable is your TT??
When I bought mine, I replaced the PTU as it went bad (like they all do) and the water pump went because I didn't replace it with the 60k service (we all learn by our mistakes). However in the last 2 years nothing has gone wrong with the car. I was driving 250 miles p/w to and from work - pretty hard sometimes - and it was sound. Fast, comfortable and reliable  I haven't used it everyday since November (maybe 2-3 times a week) as I have another car too, but now summer is here I've just started again, leaving the Rav at home. I mean, what would you rather drive?? I use the ZX for all holidays too, sometimes covering 1500 miles in a week and still it is fine. I have had a couple if issues with safety boost in the hot weather after a couple of hours driving but Optimax has solved that one too. Mine's a UK spec auto, just coveren 81k miles now. (62k when I bought it) The only expense has been fuel and rear tyres. Richard

Speed Cameras
I know, that's why I love the ZX as I can just blast past the dawdlers safely and swiftly. The fekkers STILL flash me as I overtake them though  Why - I mean surely they don't want me sitting on their tail while they potter along at 40 and still brake for every bend??? Richard ;)

Speed Cameras
Cameras have nothing to do with road safety anymore - it is all about raising revenue. FACT! If road safety were the sole reason for cameras then why don't the government scrap all speeding fines and simply give a minimum 6 points per offence. If you risked losing your licence after just 2 tickets then would you speed? NO! you'd stick to the limit. Obvious really!! :slap: I rest my case, the fekking coonts!! :headvswal Richard :D

2 min silence today
How can people not know about the silence - I reckon most radio stations mentioned it on their breakfast shows?? Anyway all of us at work today went outside just before Midday and found our whole industrial estate had done the same thing. A couple of people put their car radios on for Big Ben's chimes (as Aylesbury is a bit far from London to hear the real thing ;) ) - I was even in a meeting just before, but I told my appointment what we were doing and he joined us as well. mmmmm air con at home
Mine too...... ....I have said for the past 5 years that I will buy a portable A/C unit for home in the January sales. But each January I say "It never really gets hot enough for longer than 5 days :nelson: " Then each July-August I could :slap: myself :nono: However I have now decided that when we move house later this year (if I can sell my current one :o ) I will pay 2-3K for British Gas to install proper A/C. Money well spent IMO :hyper: Richard :D

NZR: Mazda MX-5 rental
Why not check out car rental companies in France, that way you get a LHD car (better for French roads) and no probs with taking the car outside the UK. Drive your own car to Dover or where ever, leave it there and pick up the MX5 when you reach Calais.... Just a thought..... Richard ;)

Dont look. Nekid women
That's all I can say too :hyper: :nana2:

Turbo failure?????????
Wouldn't a TT ZX with completely knackered tubbies actually be less powerful than an N/A owing to the lower compression of the TT engine? Richard

Knock or detonation sensor
It seems it is common to go into safety boost in hot weather as the det sensor is actually sensing detonation as it should. I have had this on a stock engine when the ambient temp gets to 28 or above. I normally use regular unleaded fuel (UK car is OK on 95 RON) but running on Optimax during the summer solved it totally :hyper: Richard :smw:

Vibration
Cheap tyres can cause gremlins - I bought a nearly new Cavalier CDi back in 1990 and at 80mph I got serious wheel vibes. I tried the balance/tracking route and all was fine. One garage suggested CV joints but on a 5 month old 10K mile car I don't think so. It did however have some dodgy brand of tyres, after replacing with a premium make the problem mysteriously vanished.......... I did suffer from this in the ZX last month but it turned out one of the stick-on weights came off a wheel in the wet weather so after a re-balance the problem went too.... Richard :D

Is the 300ZX really an "every day" supercar?
Similar story for me. Same round trip to work plus holidays (around 1500 miles per week on hols) and no problems apart from using a Landrover to help me stop once :slap: I bought a Rav-4 last winter though so I could get to work across the Chilterns in the snow. It almost halved my fuel costs but I really don't care as I use the ZX again now because it is much better to drive. If you're worried about economy buy a VW diesel and as for reliability they are Nissans afterall, so unless you buy a dog or do some serious power mods then you've nothing to worry about. Richard :D

Quality!!!! I love it whan a plan comes together
Ditto! Although I would not have helped him jack up his hair-dresser's car, I'd tell him to feck off before I sue him for tresspassing. After-all he did damage your rock so technically you could!! :D Richard

Cam belt change
Exactly! This happened to me :o I had the belts changed at 63K then 3 months later the water pump went - luckily my warranty paid for the waterpump and the labour to remove all the stuff at the front of the engine for a 2nd time ;) Get your car booked in with Ryan at Z-tech, I reckon his price for the full works is about as low as you'll get and he'll do a damn good job too, by all accounts. Richard :D
