  1. Thanks fellas and lasses :hyper: Plus a happy birthday to Bazza ;) Richard :D
  2. This is true TBH. Once the contract is issued, an employee has (typically) 30 days to object to any particular clause in writing otherwise they are deemed to have accepted the terms within.
  3. Although she had a "3 month probationery period" an employer can get rid of someone anytime within the first year without too much difficulty. After a year then the employer would need a watertight case to avoid tribunal action. Even then, the eployer doesn't legally have to abide by the decision of the tribunal; if the employer still refuses to accept the tribunal's decision the employee must seek judgment in a county court. Still, your mrs is still entitled to payment for her notice period, plus payment for any accrued holiday pay not taken at the time of her dismissal. That is on top of her wages for the time worked since the last pay day. Good luck, mate. Richard
  4. 1.4 16v vauxhall engine is more powerful though. Julia's old Corsa (2000w 1.4 sport) was 90+ bhp IIRC and would trounce the Rover ;)
  5. Yep, a good substitute for saffron - Ainsley Harriot's cook book suggests it for paella ;) Richard :D
  6. Hey Si, That look like a price for just the lenses, not the whole back bit...... .......plus it's the US spec and doesn't have side lights ;) Richard :D
  7. Cheap tyres on any car, let alone a high performance car is bad news. They are your only contact with the road - do not skimp on tyres if you have a desire to remain alive ;) Richard :smw:
  8. Yup, this is a weakspot for earlier (series one) Z32s. Get one from a later spec model as Nissan sorted the problem by then; see Mike at MJP. Richard ;)
  9. Yes, I believe he would also be insured to drive to/from the MOT test station. It may be prudent to mention that to the insurance company....... ......as for RFL, whilst it is law to buy the tax disc I don't recall anything that says you're not insured if the RFL runs out - don't know that for sure though........ Afterall if you had the car stored off road, you may still maintain insurance cover in case it gets stolen or catches fire. You wouldn't need RFL to validate insurance then ;) No MOT and you're not insured because that has some implication as to the car's roadworthiness. Richard :smw:
  10. This is my understanding too. I mean, say you SORNed your car for a year to do some restoration work and whilst off the road, the MOT expired. You would have to drive it to the MOT station, surely? I also think there is a sentence on the bottom of a road tax application that asks when the last RFL expired and when you want the new RFL to start. It asks you to explain any gap between the two and declare the car was not used on a public road. IIRC driving to a pre-booked MOT is the only allowable exception. Richard :smw:
  11. What he said :nono: Richard ;)
  12. Post his address on here and maybe some zedders that live near him could pay him a visit for you.......... ;) Failing that we could all post him dog shit in matchbox  :nono: Richard :D
  13. They are H3C bulbs. Look in our traders section - Danny at DTA sells uprated ones or Luke at the Z Centre sells the OEM ones. Alternatively you can do the wire conversion to UK spec bulbs (do a search here) then you can use regular H3 bulbs from Halfords. Richard :smw:
  14. Don't know what the symptoms of bird flu are...... ......but I'm getting worried as I've felt a bit peckish all day :slap:
  15. I'm not a fan of aftermarket bumpers on the ZX so I agree the stock item looks good - left the way of Gio's car per his last pic. Plus on a light coloured ZX, the original bumper does indeed make the car look lower........ However the 99 spec is a genuine Nissan part and IMO the only good looking alternative to the original one (again I'm not biased there ;) ). It enhances and (depending on colour) updates the look a little, without spoiling the classic lines. I had the same dilema after a minor accident back in 2004. I chose to fit the 99 spec front in the end, mainly down to it looking better in profile than the stock one - the original bumper has a bit of an "overbite" thing on the side view ;). Richard :smw:
  16. What he said...... ......I have a 99 spec front bumper on my UK car. As there are only 5 characters (personal reg) the font is "standard" size but the height/width of the plate are reduced to fit the raised number plate section exactly (don't have a pic though). I've never been stopped by the constabulary and the car has passed 3 MOTs without a problem. Richard ;)
  17. I was thinking that too - full on front/rear view does look good but the profile doesn't seem quite right. All in all, I'm still unsure if I like it....... Richard ;)
  18. Exactly! It not like a drug dealer who is held at fault for selling dope to someone who ODs. At present, (but who can say with this government ;) ) drugs are illegal and high powered cars are not. Let's face it, most young guys would love a fast/flash car so if they can afford it then they buy one. The car dealers are just doing a job, it is not their responsibilty to vet potential purchasers for someone who will wrap the car around a tree in 2 weeks. If a young inexperienced driver crashes through reckless driving, inappropriate for the prevailing road conditions then it's the driver's own fault. The driver should take responsibility for his own actions. Richard :nono:
  19. Pilot Sport are very good tyres - I had them on my old Supra and they were excellent. They are pretty expensive compared to equal quality rivals, though and Goodyear GSD3s and Dunlop SP9000s are as good, if not better, for less money. Richard ;)
  20. Yes..... .....I left the ZX in the garage, wisely! I thought I'd still go to work in the SLK though. I got out of my road but when I reached the High Street it wasn't gritted. I couldn't get above 10mph even with traction control and "winter" mode of auto box switched on. Each time I did, the TC stopped me going and when I switched it off, I just slid. I gave up, drove back home and went to work in the Rav-4. Much better for this type of thing :D Richard :smw:
  21. I damaged one of my Azevs like that - I had a tyre blow as I was changing lanes and dented the wheel on a cat's eye. It wasn't quite as bad as yours but 3 places said the wheel was not worth reparing. 2 said they could not do it leaving the polished edge intact (ie they would paint it, therefore it would not match the others) and the other said its safety would be compromised if repaired. Richard :)
  22. They are very nice.......
  23. My personal opinion...... .......I don't like the crystal lenses - to much of a contrast from the stock indicators/front fogs. BUT I do like the clear lenses from the JDM/USA spec cars. The lens pattern matches that of the front fogs. Richard :)
