  1. I've just had new brake pads fitted, incidentally. Now I've never actually had a problem with the brakes on my ZX; the car always stopped every bit as good as my SLK or Rav-4. In fact from higher speeds (say 80+) the ZX has better braking ability and gives more feeling of being in control. I only have stock size 3g grooved discs on the front with standard rears too. But the garage fitted new Mintex pads all round, changed the fluid and cleaned the front calipers properly before re-assembly. The car is transformed - it really stops well now, despite not being bad before. The lesson is change the fluid annually and make sure the calipers are not seized. Free the pistons as necessary and the brakes will be fine; it's all down to their age and maintenance! Richard
  2. Cheers for the input fellas. You're quite right - lesson learned and all that. Thing is I don't usually ship anything outside the UK for that very reason but I thought "It's only £15 so what the hell" I'm not bothered about the -ve feedback TBH. I wouldn't pay attention to just the one and lets be honest, nearly everyone complains nowadays so I guess one blot is inevitable. Richard
  3. 2 weeks ago I sold something on Ebay for £15 inc P&P. Unfortunately the winning bidder was from Italy - I say unfortunately, not because I don't like Italians, but because I would not normally send anything overseas. Well the inevitable happened. I duly posted the item by Royal Mail international post (although not signed for - too much hassle from works franking machine :wack: ) and the buyer claims never to have recieved it. He is now emailing me via Paypal asking for his money back. I know I should have known better - the last time I sold something to an Italian it caused me grief so I should have sent it by some form of registered post but for £15 I did not think it was worth it. I have asked him to be patient knowing how slow the post can be but ultimately I do not believe him. I also posted something work related to Italy on the same day and that arrived Friday 31/8. Should I offer a refund or pass it over to Paypal for them to conclude? (or simply tell him to feck off!!?) Cheers Richard
  4. Have to agree wholy there Danny  They are just trying to copy Top Gear but without the real tongue in cheek humor or banter. Tiff is a driving god but VBH is just completely annoying - no wonder they didn't let the daft bint behind the wheel of the Veyron. I mean, remember when she tried to get an Aston over 200mph?? She just squeeled inanely when she couldn't get it over 180mph after 3 or so attempts:smash: I only watched it for the Veyron and can state, hand on heart, that I won't be watching another episode :p Richard
  5. I only have a little left too...... ......but I still go to the barbers every 2 weeks for a number 1. I think it would look a lot worse if I fekked it up by attempting to do it myself :wack: Richard
  6. I'm inclined to agree here.........although I cannot comment as I wasn't there/have not seen it myself. But I do have a theory......... ......many petrol heads who buy exotica/supercars know enough about Japanese junior supercars (300zx/Supra/RX7 etc) to know that some examples are tuned to the extreme. They therefore do not know what they are up against and their egos will not allow them to be handed their arse by an old rice rocket - hence they don't try. That way when they are beaten at least they can say "well, I didn't really bother......" Just a thought :p Nice kill BTW mate! Richard
  7. No pics of mine..... ......but the above is true. Have the grooves facing forwards makes the brakes more effective at the expense of pad wear. Personally, I prefer the better braking ability and to hell with the expense of replacing the pads more frequently  Richard
  8. That's a lot of oil consumption (unless you drive 3000 miles a week ;) ) Mine barely needs topping up in 6000 miles; it's done almost 90k now...... Richard
  9. Where from? The master cylinder is a weak spot on earlier cars - it is prone to leaks and the best cure is replacement with one from a later model car. Richard
  10. HICAS ball joints maybe? Richard
  11. So true....... ......plus it's obvious that Japanese people have smaller hands than us :p Richard
  12. Are you referring to the Z32 or Z33? Renault had nothing to do with Nissan at the time the Z32 was in production; and they can't change the car's spec after production has ceased......... ;) Richard
  13. Crock of shite IMO.......... :D Nothing comes close to the original titanium key - that's real individual class. The 350z has the same key as a Micra - where's the "exclusiveness" in that...... Richard ;)
  14. What he said........ ......and my final piece of advice - make sure she doesn't log on here and read this thread!! ;) Richard
  15. Providing you alter the tyre profiles to ensure that the rolling circumferences of the wheels are as close as possible then it should make no difference! If you stick with 18s then you would have (say) 265/35/18 rears and 235/40/18 front - most owners here running 18s have those sizes. So if you went for 265/30/19 on the rear they would be the same size overall as the 265/35/18. No problem! Richard
  16. I have the same problen with Guns N Roses, Whitesnake etc etc.....
  17. Some sound words there.... Bloody women.... All the bast mate! Richard :)
  18. Vaguely..... ......but nostalgia isn't what it used to be mate :x: Richard
  19. Of the 3 then I'd have to agree - get the diesel as well. More torque, plus lower emissions means lower company car tax. Otherwise a VW PAssat TDi - one of the best diesel cars for the money..... Richard :)
  20. Is that by someone with connections to the seller? If so, do not take that on face value. If the car is otherwise sound and you are set on buying it, then have someone who actually knows these cars check it out. Otherwise walk away - if it's an auto and the box is playing up then the fix will be (a) expensive and (b) will most probably fail in the very near future after it's fixed. Richard :)
  21. What's an O R L?? :wack:
  22. Those were the days...... .....I also had a Cav 1.9 GLS sports hatch and then a Manta back in my teens. Loved the 80s..... And I see a series 1 or 2 Jag XJ6 in one of your pics - I had a series 2 4.2 myself as well! Great car - in dark indigo blue with loads of chrome work. Looked like a bank robber's car from the Sweeney..... Richard :)
