Silver twin turbo in Devon....
I saw a silver stock looking TT in Moretonhampsted (sp?) this afternoon - parked on the A382 just past the town centre. Anyone here? Richard;)

Handling
There you go - tyres make all the difference! When I bought my Z it had brand new Avon ZZ3s all round and it handled like shit in the wet. I replaced them with Goodyears and it was like a different car:bow: Richard;)

Cheers Gary - I did wonder afterwards if I should have gone further to secure it...... .....but I do think I made the right choice in sticking to my guns. I hope it went to a good home - it'd be a shame if it didn't. Still like you say, only an enthusiast would pay the final price! It was a good find on your part though - I'm just sorry I could not have brought it into the club myself! Richard:)

Why are people so f8cking jealous?
Sorry to hear that mate - but despite my "non violent" tendencies I'm afraid I find myself agreeing with Stu. In today's broken society I fear that fighting fire with fire is the only option. I hope you get your car sorted Murt; and the mindless scum get their just deserts:( Richard:)

Well it's gone for £4600 - I was only prepared to go to £4k for the car......... ....and according to the seller, I was the only one to actually be bothered to see it first! As tidy as I thought it was, on current prices and in recognition of what I would have to spend on painting the front bumper & re-commissioning the A/C; plus it is an auto (not that I really care, but it does effect value;)) my honest opinion was £4k max. So I'm pleased I resisted the E-Bay ego problem of winning at any cost...... .......but at the same I'm a little concerned that a potential "keeper" of a Z may end up in a sad mollested state:nono: I wish the new owner all the best and hope to see him/her on here as a new member and true enthusiast. Richard:cool:

3k for my car
Hey Allan, Personally I'd have it fixed and sell it for its real price. The problem with selling "as it is" is that no-one will pay a true worth price if they have a "perceived" major repair to do. If you E-bay it with a knocking bottom end you will only attract bids for pennies from Ebay-ers who just want something for nothing. Just my humble opinion though mate.........;) Richard

He won't answer over the weekend mate - he is selling it via his company and is only available to field questions and accept viewings during office hours! Which was badly timed since the auction ends b/h monday......! Richard

There is no wear on either of the front seats - although some good leather feed treatment would be a good idea. The hot climate it's been in has hardened it a little in places....... I understand what you mean - I wouldn't say it's mint; just very tidy and "feels right" for what it's described as. I cannot say whether the mileage is genuine but I saw no reason to doubt it. I wouldn't buy the car just based on its mileage though....... As for my "brakes" comment; there are plenty of posts here saying how crap Z brakes are after 15+ years. However in reality, a ZX's brakes are good - it's age and the strain of stopping of a 1.5 tonne 155mph car that takes its toll on them. There have also been posts describing how Z brakes have no immediate "bite" from low speeds. Well this one brakes like a modern, brand new car. Bear in mind that I had just stepped out of a 3 year old SLK350, which has superb brakes! Of course they could have been replaced; but my Z has new-ish grooved discs, upated pads and the calipers have been fixed but this Z would easily outbrake mine:p In short, this is a nice original example that wouldn't take much to bring it up to a real pristine car. However I will not pay over the odds for it, considering that some things like painting the bumper and re-commissioning the a/c could cost £££s. Richard:cool:

It wasn't me either......yet........ ......BUT I did go and take a drive over to Essex for a peek this afternoon! In fact I have only just got home - bloody M25:rant: It's a very tidy car indeed. It's been used (very little BTW) in a nice dry climate so absolutely no rust; the engine, gearbox and suspension all feel "right" for a car of such low mileage. Plus the (stock) brakes are excellent as the car has obviously not been shagged around for 18 years! The only negative points were some faded paint on the bumper below the headlights owing to the heat in the Middle East; the a/c has been uprated to cope with the climate out there but it's currently not working and it needs a new radio & radio facia surround. It's a true UK spec that was shipped overseas but has now returned to Blighty. I will be placing a bid as I think the car should go to an enthusiast like most of us, rather than to someone who will ruin it. Richard:)

Porsche Cayman S...
The Cayman S is just a hard top Boxster S (or Cockster accoring to Jeremy Clarkson). They are pretty fast and good in the twisties but in a straight line a stock ZX tt in good form (ie not shagged) should still give it a run for its money; 320bhp or not. My SLK350 will take a Boxster S in the straights; although the Boxster is still a better driver's car; especially on an empty country lane. I did compare both cars before chosing though...... ....as for the Cayenne Turbo S; that's one hell of a fast 4x4:eek: That can give a stock 300zx tt a real challenge (he says knowingly); took me by surprise; and a lot of effort to lose it......maybe he gave up first:confused: Richard:wack:

"Z Moment"
Mine's relegated to a second car now but I still cannot bear to part with it....... ......however if I do decide to sell mine it will be replaced with another so I cannot see me being zedless for too long;) Richard
-
Hicas good or bad ?
I like the HICAS, providing all the joints are not baggy and loose;) Richard
-
Why is the 300zx severely underrated?
Wise words there Si....... .........apart from your spelling of superceded;) Richard:D

Oil Pressure?
The most common reason is the sender unit; replace it and the gauge will perform as before. It is expensive though - around £80 for the part. Richard:)

Not happy........
All is well with it now..... I called the garage and they sent someone to my office yesterday morning with some fine grade wet & dry paper and some polish. The chap did his best and almost removed the blemish; but when I got home I could still see it albeit much more faintly than before..... .......so I returned to MB this morning and they had another go and gave the boot lid a good machine polish and it's back to normal! I have just coated it with a few layers of wax to protect it; hopefully it will do the trick and ny contaminants will attack the polish not the laquer. At last until it's fully "cured" Richard:)

Police scared the absolute hell out of me today!
Could have been worse though Si, Imagine your face as they pulled on the marigolds........... Richard:x:

Ooooh! At last one with leather - most of the extremely low mileage immaculate UK that turn up from time to time have the cloth trim. I'm seriously tempted to buy that!!! Good find mate...... ............I have just started "watching" it;) Richard

Not happy........
Sorry for the lengthy rant; but bloody Mercedes bodyshop.....:xxx: I had a small accident in my SLK last summer - some twat drove into the back of my car whilst I was sitting in traffic. It didn't look much; but owing to the roof mechanism and the car still being under warranty, I made sure it was repaired by the local MB garage. They were paid over £10k for their efforts. When I got the car back (it was away for 10 weeks), it appeared they had managed to "decorate" the bonnet and another panel with light scratches whilst cleaning it; so back it went for a machine polish. In September, when I returned from a holiday in the Yorkshire dales, I was washing the car and noticed that the horse shit I was hosing off had marked the new laquer on a door and rear wing. So back it went again for those panels to be resprayed. Last month I noticed that some paint had started flaking off the bumper and the laquer on the rear wing near the window rubber had cracked (yup, they masked the rubber rather than remove it). Also some "spotting" had become apparent on the boot lid under the laquer. So back it went again. I go the car back Tuesday and I have to say it looked perfect this time. However today, whilst parking the Z in my garage/chatting to a neighbour, a bird crapped on the boot lid and roof. Not a problem I thought; it was there all of 10-15 minutes and normally with a good coating of wax polish, there would be no issues. WRONG! I wiped off the offending turds only to find one has eaten into the brand new laquer on the boot lid (the "old" paint on the roof is fine); so how have MB managed to feck it up this time?? Why can't the bloody body shop do a proper job that won't flake, crack or get eaten by animal crap:( To say I'm pissed off is an understatement - you'd have thought that taking it back to MB would be as good as taking it to the factory; but no. I have the body-shop manager himself coming to my office tomorrow morning to take a look; I refused to make the effort to take it back to them. Looks like it will be away for another week and I don't know what they will do wrong next time:cry: Richard:rant:
