  1. It shouldn't be too difficult. However don't expect to drain the oil from the torque convertor - that's a different matter! And whilst the 'box capacity is something like 9 litres according to the hand book, that is only if you do drain the torque convertor as well. I'd personally have the 'box fluid drained and replaced by an auto box specialist or JeffTT. Richard:cool3:
  2. If you don't mind a bit of a journey; you have D2 in kent (Dazkent) or Zedworld in Tamworth (JeffTT). Both within an hour an a half-ish.... Richard:batman:
  3. Many happy returns mate! Richard:clap:
  4. Stunning wheels Andy - what are they? Richard:cool3:
  5. That's simply stunning Jeff...... Richard:cool3:
  6. Sorry to hear that mate - I hope you get it fixed easily and for not too much cash.....:cursing: ......Sadly I reckon that people carrier drivers are the worst on the road nowadays. Forget the old favourites like Volvo/BMW/Audi drivers - any people carrier should be given a wide berth.....:sneaky2: Richard:chef:
  7. I'd hazzard a guess - you live in Battersea, S.London...... And you live in rural low crime Sussex...... Richard:sorcerer:
  8. Good grief!! This is why I only entrust my ZX to the experts when it comes to anything other than a basic oil and filter change!! Richard:scared:

Cheers Paul; very useful mate as always - does that mean that permanent 4x4s should also not be brake tested on the rollers? Richard:cool3:
  10. No worries mate - hopefully someone will see this and get in touch with him! Richard:flowers:
  11. LOL - I know what you mean mate so I'll just delete them..... We're staying in Shanklin - our hotel is inside the gardens next to the Chine! Hence I can only get to JAE on Friday.... Richard:thumbup1:

Not necessarily mate!! Technically if a car is equipped with a limited slip differential (LSD) then the garage should perform the brake test on the road and not on the rollers! I heard that it can damage the diff in extreme circumstances..... However not all garages realize this - maybe this one did it right. Our very own PaulC will know for sure; he's a qualified tester.... Richard:thumbup1:
  13. He hasn't been online since June mate. Unfortunately owing to data protection laws I can't give you any more info than that. Richard:cool3:
  14. You're always welcome Harry - it's one of the best bits about this club; that we're all here for each other! Richard:cool2:
  15. Not sure really mate - I guess you'd start by removing the wooden panel under the passenger footwell carpet and looking at the ECU..... Off topic, I'm taking my Z over to "The Island" for a week's holiday on Saturday! So if you spot a blue UK spec buzzing around it may well be me!! Richard:thumbup1:
  16. Welcome Anthony! And that is indeed a nice looking car - as mentioned it was Chewie's old one and always one of my favourites on the forum back in the day!! I hope it serves you well mate!! Richard:rockon:
  17. Welcome to the club mate! And this is some sound advice from my learned friend!! Richard:cool3:
  18. Not necessarily mate! The auto has slightly smaller turbos and different cam timing (IIRC); the turbos spool up quicker to compensate for the overall power reduction and the auto 'box. This is so that in real terms, the auto should not suffer a performance drop from the manual. So converting an auto to manual means that in theory, despite the supposed power disadvantage, the faster spooling turbos and cam timings could actually make the car accelerate faster than a stock manual. All theoretical of course - on the road in normal circumstances, I doubt there'd be much in it. Richard:chef:
  19. Hi Harry! I know how you feel little buddy. When I saw your dad's advert here I just knew you'd miss that car once it went. I was still sad to see my red ZX disappear down the road even though I had another one sitting in the garage; the ZX is a car that just grows on you and captures your heart like few others. At least you still have the other ZX by the sound of it. But at the moment your folks have other priorities (including you matey!) that require their attention. And I'm sure that once circumstances allow, your dad will once more be involved with another 300zx. Hang in there Harry; it'll all work out in the end! Richard:sorcerer:
  20. Sorry to hear that Craig..... .....but I thought I'd point out that front fogs are not part of the MOT (even if they are fitted) so shouldn't have been tested! Richard:oops:
  21. Hi Steve... .....basically what they said! The Mintex stock replacement pads are pretty good; JeffTT sells them. I have them on my ZCX along with Jeff's drilled/groved discs and they work very well... ....and for a few more ££s MJP sells the Stillen Metal Matrix pads. Richard:cool2:
  22. I'll see you there Friday Graham - and look forward to seeing your car regardless of whether it's finished or not mate!! Richard:cool3:
  23. I guess that's just their terms Tom - maybe that's how they keep their premuims down; ie by not covering higher risks? Richard:chef:
  24. Really? Leading anthropologists currently claim that the most reliable study so far calculates a common ancestor to modern man existing at between 37,000 and 49,000 years ago...? But I'm not an anthropoligist so what do I know?? Richard:whistling:
