front tyre suggestions?
If you have deep pockets then you cannot go wrong with the new Goodyear F1 asymetrics. They have been voted the best performance tyre in many comparison tests; second best was the Continental Sport Contact 3.... I have the Goodyears on my ZX and the Contis on my SLK - both are superb in all wet/dry conditions; even during "sprited" driving.... Richard:cool3:

Quinton Hazell products? any good?
Hi Daz, for the cam belt I would always use Nissan OEM - JeffTT did a useful thread about pattern belts a while back and it scared the crap out of me how bad some non-stock items could be!! As for the water pump, I also remember another thread some time back comparing OEM to a pattern part (Blueprint I think it was). The OEM part had a much larger impeller meaning more water pumping action - given the need for efficient cooling on the ZX, I'd stick with stock again. I doubt the costs are much more TBH mate. perfect home made chip
I've heard that as well..... I believe that's how the Belgians cook theirs. The best chips I ever had were on a weekend break in Brugge a few years back. A grilled fresh lobster, small salad and a bowl of Belgian chips with a little mayo; washed down with a bottle or 3 of Brugge Blonde or Leffe lager..... ......Lovely.... Richard:yes:

Do you ever just wish you could stop the world for a bit?
Sorry to hear that Jane..... Don't let it get you down though..... Dark evenings do suck; but it's not for too long. Another 7 weeks and the days get longer again after the Winter Solstice. Windows can be fixed - just call your house insurers. (Never heard of "mischief night" though; must be a local thing to you:confused1:) As for the job, give them a call and discuss it with them. If they promised to match your current salary then show them what you earn now. If they want you as opposed to another candidate then they will pay you. Don't be fobbed off by excuses like employers have the upper hand due to the recession; nonsence! A lot of employers are recruiting once more and if they want the right person (not just the cheapest) they will be willing to pay. Now chill out with a nice hot bath and a glass of wine - and one virtual hug from all your mates on the forum..... Richard:cool3:

Time traveller?
Could be my mother-in-law..... .....she's a big fat hairy man in a dress.....:clown: That's exactly the point - even if it were a "time traveller" who the feck were they talking to. There was no mobile technology back then so even if someone had managed to time travel, they would have no means to communicate using the phone they took back with them....... Richard:euro:

That's fooking robbery Allan...... ......but I do see why you paid him!! If he's that dishonest the chances are 'Shell would never have seen her phone again otherwise; and got bills for calling all manner of dodgy countries no-one's ever heard of..... Richard:asshole:

ffs *Bumper off UPDATE*
Hi Ian, Sorry to see that mate - but I'm so glad that you, Tess and the little one are OK. I really hope you can get it sorted with little fuss - especially as you had gotten so far with your new toy as well! Like Graham says, it doesn't look too bad and should be fairly straight forward to fix. ATB Richard:chef:

Orange users able to access T-Mobile signal?
You think?? I sometime get trouble inside buildings whereas O2 and Vodafone do not; however in the wilds of Cornwall or the York moors I have always had perfect reception when other networks do not!! It is a good move; although from what I have heard from mates on T-mobile their reception is trully shite so they will now most likely benefit more from being able to access Orange! OK but is it worth 9K
More than that mate - a genuine low mileage UK spec manual in excellent condition; it should fetch a premium! Whilst there are many cars for £3-4k that one should be at least £5-6k. Yes it is expensive at £9k but like Pablito says, let's not knock it! When all the shite cars have rusted away or been rapped around trees by chavs, examples like this will be the only ones left. And hopefully that's good news for those of us who cherish their cars making them the classic they deserve to be! Richard:chef:

Bargain IMO...!! Go for it mate..... It's not a problem if you keep the V5 and do the transfer straight away mate! Just agree it with the buyer before hand like I did when I sold my red ZX. There was no way I was going to lose my B5 RFS plate as you can't get "B" plates for less than an arm and half a leg nowadays!!! It is quite easy to retain or transfer a reg plate if you remember at the time!! Richard:sorcerer:

how many daily drivers are there?
I originally used my red ZX as a daily drive until late 2004.... .....then I changed jobs and, until I moved house, I was driving it over 50 miles a day. I did not want to ruin a nice low mileage example so the ZX was relegated to a weekend toy. And the blue one continues like that today - although I only drive 22 miles a day now.... I do keep it taxed and insured all year though as the urge to drive it cannot be supressed!! Richard:sorcerer:

Jealous little muppets

help me write this complaint
Allan has a good point! It would probably have been best to insist on seeing a manager at the time and letting him/her know how you felt about the service you received and the attitude of the pleb serving you.... Richard

help me write this complaint
Hi Indy, my personal opinion (for what it's worth) is not to sound agressive; but to sound very intelligent/learned! Anyone can say "your company is shite because.......xxx" but more often than not, the people reading the compliants are quite smart and will just fob you off with excuses at best; or bin it at worst. If, however, you sound smart then they will think you know your stuff and you will therefore most likely not be fobbed off by their pathetic excuses. They will not know how far you will take things and assume the worst (court/watchdog etc); so their response will be more favourable! Richard:yes:

normal unleaded prepare to tell me off
Whatever the reasoning, yes - a stock(ish) UK car is fine on normal unleaded. It's what the handbook says; along with that little sticker saying "95 ron" inside the petrol cap! In Japan a higher octane fuel is available and whilst over there the car may have gotten used to running on it, a stock(ish) TT should by the same rationale get used to running on 95 ron here as well. However in very hot weather, especially as there is a lot of heat under the bonnet of a TT Z32, most of our cars will run better on super u/l during the summer months. I know my UK spec does - it seems to maintain peak performance at the height of the day compared to when filled with regular u/l (and I only ever use Shell or BP; both normal or super). Also when running on V-power, whilst I may not notice much more in the way of performance (outside of very hot summer days), I have noticed that I get a few more miles from a tank full. Not necessarily the same story with BP Ultimate though - that is no different from regular u/l. That's just my experience and it may be different from the rest of you......:innocent: Richard:biggrin:
