That's better than what Julia got last year when some arsewipe hit her Rav-4 in a pub car park and drove off. We used Admiral's recommended reparier (who did a great job on our car BTW) but the garage supplied a Chevrolet (Daewoo) thing. I don't know what engine it had, but I had awful trouble trying to get 100mph (NOT on the public road, I hasten to add) out of it - bloody thing would not accelerate past 95....... Richard:shuriken:

checking the oil in a auto box
The manual states..... AT oil should be checked when hot - although if you've been on a long fast m-way run, leave it to rest for a short while first. Have the engine running, then starting from "park" move the shifter through all the positions then back to neutral; then remove the dipstick and check the level. It's also a good idea to check the condition of the fluid. It should be a clear pinkish-red; smell it as well - if it's brown or you detect a burnt smell then make sure you have the fluid drained and changed. Richard:cool3:

Hey Allan, you read my thoughts mate!!! I was just reading the e-mail from Auto Express on this and can't help drooling over the pics. Maybe I was a little hasty in buying my silver car......:shaun: That's a very nice motor and I reckon it's like a "junior SLS" in the same way that the current version is like a "junior McLaren SLR." Who knows? - give it until Autumn 2012 when it has been around for a year or so and I may give it a go. It's way nicer than the current Z4 and it makes the Boxster look positively ancient!! Best garage in the midlands for 300zx?
I'm not going to read anymore posts, I'm just going to quote this one...... .....because I agree! I drive over 100 miles each way to take my ZX to Jeff. Sometimes I have to leave it there for a day or two and suffer the train home. But it's worth it for the service and expertise Zedworld provides. Richard:thumbup1:

New membership secretary
I would like to inform the membership that owing to personal and work committments, zx-eyes (Isaac Caldwell) has stood down from the position of Membership Secretary. The Committee has given its full backing for ck300z (Chris Keig-Wells) to take on this role within the club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Isaac for all he has done in this department (he will be missed) and congratulate Chris on his new position. Welcome Chris - on behalf of The Committee, I'm sure you will do a great job! Richard Club Secretary For The committee

If the accident is not your fault then you will get like for like; your insurer will claim the cost off the other party. When some knob rear-ended my SLK back in 2008 I got a brand new Merc E320cdi - it cost the 3rd party's insurer over £12,000 (yup twelve grand) in hire charges!! but if you're claiming off your own insurance they are under no obligation to give you a similar car - you just have to take pot luck with what ever the repairing garage offers you. Feeling slightly guilty, i've had to defect.
I have a soft spot for that shape M5 as well - so congrats on your new purchase mate!! As for the ZX - keep it if you can. For the money you'll get for it, it's not worth selling if you don't have to. Pop it on a classic car policy and enjoy it over those sunny weekends - that's what I do now..... Richard:sorcerer:

How not to make it look like a GTR
Nasty...... .....and those new Merc E-class rear arches look even worse on that than they do on the new E-class.......:w00t: Richard:wacko:

Hopefully New Z Owner
Hi Adam, firstly welcome to the club! That looks a tidy Uk spec in the pics - and if it's been maintained by Zedworld, do give Jeff a call. He's extremely helpful and will tell you all you need to know about that particular car. It doesn't look like a car I have seen on here before but if you want to view it, I'm sure there might be a local member who could meet you there and check it out with you. Good luck in your search, Richard:thumbup1:

Is this advisable?
Nice work Dave! Not all of us will bother to do these bits ourselves mate - I'm a bit like that as well. But it's a great feeling when you do attempt a job yourself and and all goes well!! Richard:shuriken:

got some pics
Nice pics - you have a tidy looking car there mate! Richard:cool2:

Is this advisable?
Hi Dave, It's pretty easy TBH; although removing the old air box can be a bit fiddley. Also, do leave in the spashguard that is fitted under the airbox - otherwise on a wet day you'll get water into the new filter which can make the car run like a pig! It should take you around 1/2 - 3/4 of an hour..... Richard:chef:

Howdy all.
Welcome to the club Kai! If you need any help with your ZX or just fancy joining in with some great banter, you've come to the right place. Richard:yes:

Colour
If it were me I'd probably be boring and stick with the original colour; if only just to avoid complications in future (eg, the VIN plate has the colour code if it ever goes into a bodyshop again at some point...). But I reckon the best black is Mercedes Obsidian black. My old SLK was that colour and it looked superb when it was freshly polished on a sunny day...... ......plus PhilP had one of his ZXs resprayed in that colour and believe me, it's awsome in the flesh! 10K Boost
Aahh I see - in that case I reckon you can't go wrong with a normal carb cleaner! Giving the throttle bodies a clean is always a good thing; spray the cleaner into the TBs, have a good dig around with an old toothbrush and watch the crud pour out onto carefully placed kitchen roll at the front. But IIRC all the crap sometimes congregates somewhere at the rear of the inlet manifold (it could be the idle control valve). So you also have to clean that as well. And then the ECU needs to re-learn its settings as the car may run like shite straight afterwards. You can re-set it by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so; or just take it for a long drive! Nice one mate - another ZX lives on.....:sorcerer: Richard:cool3:

10K Boost
Personally I'd not bother mate..... .....I'm not a fan of any kind of additive. For the simple reason that the oil/petrochemical industry spends 000,000s of pounds on research and development each year; so if something was actually that good, then it would already be included in Shell/BP/Esso/Mobil et all's finest, straight out of the box! Sure, sometimes a good injector cleaner used once in a while might make a bit of a difference. But then using a good quality fuel with detergents already added will keep things running properly. Likewise with oil - one good flush every so often is fine. But is you use a premium synthetic at each oil change then you won't have to bother with additives at all. Save your money mate.....:whistling: These products are big in America simply because the Yanks fall for the marketing hype. Just my opinion BTW - but I bet I'm not alone! Richard:cool3:

black interior Question
I think the stock leather is very very very dark grey (or anthracite); rather than black. Likewise the doorcards and dash etc..... Richard:cool2:

just a little something ive done today in the garage..
I must say I'm very impressed with that mate - it looks superb!! I don't like the "imitation" carbon look (too Max Power); but playing around with the real stuff can produce pretty awsome results - and that look like it was professionally done. Hats of to you mate!! Richard:cool3:

whats it worth?
Hi Gary, I only have the original UK spec RDS radio cassette; but it does have the facility to add the OEM CD player. I guess I must have put the CD in my red ZX when I sold it! But the radio is yours FOC mate - it did work when I took it out of my red ZX many years ago...... Richard:sorcerer:
