oil usage or oil level?
Yup - oil pressure indeed...... ....And whilst wchestnutt would normally be correct in what he says; there is another possible explanation if the pressure drops to zero when driving!! The sender unit on these cars is notoriously fickle and prone to failure - so once the engine is warm and the pressure drops, stop and listen to the engine. If it still sounds OK, then it's your sender unit that has packed up. Of course, if the engine sounds like a bag of spanners, then yes, your oil pressure has dropped to critical levels so switch off right away!! The OEM sender unit is the thick end of £100 sadly, so many people don't bother to replace it. JeffTT took one apart once to see why they fail - apparently the electric contacts on the section which measures normal hot oil pressure wear, as the sensor is constantly rubbing in that area; so when cold, the gauge works but once warmed up, it does not always register a reading. Mike at MJP has also said this was a common Nissan problem; as that sensor is used on one or two other cars also. Richard:yinyang:

This weather + 300zx = heaven :)
Good question Dave - but whilst I love the hot sunny weather, I'm one of those people who feels warm most of the time.... Luckily I am dark skinned and do not readily burn, but nonetheless I could sit outside in my pants in the December snow and not feel cold.... So when it hits 28+, the roof goes back up and the a/c switched to 18. And in the ZX, I must admit, I rarely take the targas out TBH..... Richard:yinyang:

Yup - great Zedding weather for sure!!! But TBH once the temperature gets above about 26, then I leave the roof in place (same on daily driver) and just bask in the cool air conditioned comfort... Richard:thumbup1:

Motorsport Events Organiser
Hi everyone! Following a recent thread regarding motorsport and the current REO arrangements, the committee has listened to your suggestions and concluded that having a MEO would indeed be a good idea. Therefore I'd like to announce that Noz (Noel) has stepped up to fill the position of Motorsport Events Organizer and the committee has given their backing for him to begin with immediate effect. On behalf of The Committee, please join me in congratulating Noel on his new role within the club. Richard Smith Club secretary For The Committee

RHD to LHD
Good info Lymon - and sound advice at the end I reckon.... ....TBH it's not really economically viable IMO; and you might actually find the cost of importing one from the USA not much more expensive than converting one!! Richard:thumbup1:

Just developed an oil leak.....
Exactly mate - and it's a local family business; the proprietor took it over from his father and has done a good job of continuing the business. Him and his staff do accept their limitations though - as they tried but declined to change an inboard HICAS joint on my old red ZX; but I'm happy for them to look after Julia's Rav and do the day to day servicing of my ZX. Plus there's always Zedworld for the specialist stuff!! It's handy for you to have Keith pretty close by Ian:wink: Richard:thumbup1:

Just developed an oil leak.....
It could indeed have Bri.... I have never had to top up the oil in my Z since I bought it; but when I noticed the leak had started a couple of weeks back (it happened on my way back from Sainsburys 2 weeks ago tomorrow; as there was no residue on my garage floor before that), I had only driven 20 miles and already the level on the dipstick dropped from full to just above the low mark!! Just developed an oil leak.....
No mate - not bad at all... It's a proper old school village garage too; the owner is a decent, honest fella and if something is too complex, he's happy to say so and not charge for his time if he could not fix it. Plus him and his regulars have that mutual trust - so when I collected the Z, he apologised for not having the bill ready; gave me the keys and said he'd post it to me in a couple of days, so just pay it when I can pop in. Of course he knows where I live... But that's not the point!! Richard:thumbup1:

Just developed an oil leak.....
Hi all, I finally got the car in at my local garage yesterday - and collected it today all fixed!! Luckily it was a minor issue and I was right!! Apparently one of the hoses to the oil cooler fell foul of the electric fan - so as the fan spun it sliced a hole into the hose. End result, 3 hours labour, a bit of rubber hose and some jubilee clips; and all is well. Nothing else needed to be disturbed.... Plus they cleaned up the oily mess and topped up the sump once more! Another proud Dad on Prom Night :)

Driving to Germany
Heh heh; hell Dave, that sounds like something you'd find in Z's basement in Pulp Fiction.... Are you looking for a co-driver then Mark? It does sound like an adventure..... ....although absolutely not the type of one Dave was thinking about with his rubber hoses and cable ties....
