If that mate....! But wasn't the later "987" 3.4s around 300-ish though? Whilst it might not set the world on fire, it is nonetheless a fine sports car - and still quicker than most tin boxes one might encounter:wink:

New toy needed
I didn't buy a Boxster S purely down to the lack of luggage space; so whilst I haven't owned one, I did test drive the S for comparison and would definitely 100% pick it over a Skyline!! But this is not my "new toy" thread - it's Brian's..... And given Bri's current leanings towards a 911 (or perhaps a 928), then either of those would be on my list of cars; some considerable way above a Skylark! Stuttgart all the way....:wink:

New toy needed
No - just no - not if it were my money..... As much as I respect the cars, I'd not buy one - Clichéd and overdone IMO; I'd stick with the Porsche for sure. Even the humble Boxster would find its way into my garage before a Skyline!

Maybe Bri - but not so much anymore!! Time was, a decent 928 s4/GT could be had for circa £8k. Now they all seem to be heading a lot further north of that; with only high milers fetching £10k or below. They've depreciated all they will now I reckon - and since the rough ones are disappearing quickly, prices are on the up. For the V8 grand-daddy of GT cars, with Porsche's heritage factored in, I'd say a late model 928 is a sound investment..... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/porsche/928/postcode/hp160su/radius/1501/quicksearch/true/sort/default/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/page/2 Richard:thumbup:

Alloy Selection Question - 19" or 18" whats ideal?
Depends on the car - but yes; I'd rate the P-Zeros above those 3 all day long..... .....Although having had P-Zeros on my old black SLK (which was a few years ago) I have to say that as good as they were, they could not shine a light to the Contis I replaced them with..... But on my 2 Zeds, I have had Avon ZZ3s (fooking useless); Goodyear Eagles (amazing, but wear out in 5 minutes); Dunlop Super Sport (very good - and last reasonably well to boot); a budget brand (on the car when I bought it - and very quickly binned, even though they were almost new); and Conti SC3s (on the car now - and still excellent, despite the rears being almost on the wear indicator). ...I might give the Pzeros another try - on the Zed this time though - based on Si's recommendation....

Look Whats Back!!
Agreed.....:nono: Waste of a 300zx - and a reasonably nice set of wheels IMO:sad:

997 is plenty quick enough Bri.... ....But why not also consider that V8 beast? For £20k you can get a very nice 928GT/GTS - I know what I'd go for.....:whistling:

Car damaged at main dealer
Agree 100% - you will never win this way....! And agreed again! I had a similar problem with my local MB dealers following an accident back in 2008. They took my car in for repair after it was rear ended - works came to approx. £10k - but when I collected it, it was obvious they had done a half-arsed job at valeting it. The bonnet was swirled to buggery and there were similar blemishes to other panels that were not there prior to the repair. I complained to a manager and they took the car back and paid for a full paint correction job - and gave me a shiny new C-class Coupe for a few days. A few weeks later - upon returning from holiday with the car, I noticed that some horse shit I had driven through, which landed on the new paint, had eaten through the new lacquer. Not best pleased I called the manager himself and they took the car back in, to respray the repaired areas again. Properly! They gave me a brand new ML350 for the duration..... There were a few more incidents which followed - and each time the dealers took the car back and either resprayed or had the affected areas professionally corrected at their cost. And each time giving me a decent courtesy vehicle for the duration. The moral is, if they are a reputable dealership (particularly in the case of high end cars like MB, BMW etc) then they will not only care for their customers, but more so their reputation. Hence will go that extra mile to resolve such issues; even if there might be reasonable doubt as to their culpability. Good luck mate - I hope you get it sorted. Richard:clover:
