  1. Hi Steve, Welcome back mate, there are still a few of us oldies kicking around 😉 I haven't heard anything bad about them - and they do host a pretty good Japanese car meet in the summer, so I'm told. I've not bought anything from Torqen myself yet, but have added them to my list of potential suppliers just in case. As with any supplier, I'd always try phoning instead of e-mailing.... It always puts people on the spot, as they have no time to compose an excuse! Richard
  2. Thanks Gary - and yes, I agree - especially with the deep dish on the rears!
  3. Thanks Andrew! No spacers were used, just spigot rings as the wheel hub aperture is larger than the Z's hubs. Fronts are 8.5x18 with an et32 offset, rears are 9.5x18 with an et35 offset. The convex (from the outside perspective) curve of the spokes gives plenty of clearance for the front calipers, so could accommodate a modest brake upgrade.
  4. I've always liked the look of black wheels on a dark blue car, so after 5 years I decided to take the plunge.... So I reverted back to some Cruise 190s - this time in gloss black, with polished rims and Nismo centre caps. I ordered some new Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres from National Tyres/Halfords (265/35/18 rear and 235/40/18 front - £552 all in) and had them fitted at home yesterday. Great service, by the way, their technician, Nick, was really good! They should keep me happy for another 5 years, until I change my mind again LOL 😉 Talking over - here are the pics....
  5. It was great to see you and Jen again Jason - thank you both so much for stepping up to show your car and for being there to man the stand with us...!! It is indeed a great experience, and one that I hope we can continue to have, so here's to next year..... !!!
  6. Great news - I look forward to seeing the pics too...!!

  9. Sorry about the pink Aston - I mean really, who would have such a fine classic painted in THAT colour 😮
  10. And a few more random pics from set-up day to whet your appetites for the show 😉
  11. We've set up and we've gone all red this year......! Big thanks to Ian, Jay and Tom for exhibiting their cars - and a bigger thanks again to Ian for providing all the display equipment to ensure our stand looks great! Hope to see some of you there over the weekend......
  12. View Advert Japan Racing JR6 18 inch 5-spoke alloys - with or without tyres Howdy folks, I am going back to some multi-spoke design wheels on my Zed, so am tentatively looking to see if anyone is interested in buying my old wheels.... They are Japan Racing JR6, and were custom drilled for a 300zx, but they should fit any other 5x114.3 hub. Rears are 18 x 9.5 ET40 offset Fronts are 18 x 8.5 ET28 offset They come with spigot rings and Rickbrook bolt-in valves. They currently have Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric tyres, 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear, but I can have them removed if they are unwanted. The front tyres have some wear on the inner edges and will need replacing soon, the rears are on approx. 4mm They suit the Zed and fill the arches pretty well, although the fronts only just clear the OEM brakes without spacers - if you have a big brake upgrade, they will not fit! I've had them on the car since 2019, and typical of these wheels, they are suffering from some surface corrosion around the faux-bolts - so a strip and repaint would be necessary if you wanted them to be pristine. More detailed pics can be supplied on request 😉 I will probably put them on Ebay for c£400 - but will accept reasonable offers over £300 from here... I would prefer collection in person or you can organise your own courier to pick up from HP16. Offered by: RichardS Date 03/11/24 Price £395.00 Category Parts - For Sale
  13. Haven't done this for a while, so here we go....... Great to see Rob Halford still belting out the vocals.......!!!
  14. Yup - I concur.... Wheel balancing should be simple but you'd be surprised by how many tyre fitters can't do it properly 😉 And don't rule out a buckled wheel - or missing spigot rings. Again, I have had tyre fitters tell me that spigot rings are not relevant because the wheel nuts/bolts are chamfered. Nonsense!! I had wheel wobble after several balancing attempts a few years ago - and when said tyre fitter said told me spigot rings would make no difference, I went home, removed the wheels and fitted the spigot rings - and the wheel wobble mysteriously vanished!! As for the fuel flap release, the cable will wear over time. Yes, it might get stuck en-route from lever to flap, but eventually it will stretch or the cable will wear through the plastic sleeve. I replaced my fuel flap/boot release cable earlier this year and have had no issues since. Luckily I found a brand new one on Ebay a couple of years ago, but you can still get a decent used one. It took me a couple of hours to remove and refit... It may be worth removing the boot trim to ensure everything moves as it should - there are a few places where things could snag, as it's essentially one cable for both and the movement is quite intricate!
  15. Just seen this - I grew up watching the Big Man both as a shot-putter and then contesting the World's Strongest Man every year..... Geoff Capes was a great athlete and a gentleman. RIP sir 😞
  16. Nice one sir....! and thank you again for stepping up. See you in a couple of weeks 🙂
  17. Hi Jason, Yes - we would definitely like your Zed on the stand mate... 🙂 I've dropped you a PM with details, we need all the cars in by about 11am on Thursday morning to finish setting up. Talk soon!
  18. Very red - it's like being inside a body LOL! I remember when my old boss bought a new Porsche 911 back in 1987, it was black outside, but the whole interior - and I mean the whole interior - was trimmed in red leather 😮
  19. 'Morning Jason, Hope all's well.... And thank you for your kind offer - it's no problem that yours is another red Zed, and certainly no issue if you cannot be there for the duration 🙂 We've often had exhibitors drop their car off on Thursday, then return late Sunday to de-mob.... We have had a couple of potential volunteers on the FB page, but no definite commitments yet; plus I did start by offering club members first dibs 😉 Talk soon, no doubt! Richard
  20. Have a good trip Arthur!
  21. Many happy returns Dave.... 🙂
  22. I see that today would have been the late Mr.F (AKA Mike Feeney)'s birthday, so ask you to join me in wishing him a posthumous "Happy Birthday!" Mike was a great guy and a hugely respected member of the whole Z/ZX community; both here and in the Zed Club. He was always there to help fellow Z/ZX owners and remains to this day, the single best resource for Z/ZX parts in the UK. No-one has managed to fill the void he left. So Happy Birthday - and RIP sir.... We remember you fondly and still miss you today 😞
