  1. If it was me mate, i'd go the Nismo 740's, plenty of room there for yer should you chase a bit more power, whilst at the same time not a big overkill for the rest of your spec. They tend to be a fraction cheaper than the 555's too :) Danny is the only person i know who does an "off the shelf" chip for 740's too, this will more than do you till one day you want the harry ramsden of chips to map your car for, Mr John Dixon ;) smithy
  2. Nismo 555 injectors will go straight in with no mods on a 91 model, only a chip is required and good for around 500 odd BHP at the wheels. Nismo 740's or PE 850's will require some machine work OR the 300 degree fuel rail, this rail was designed to allow a wider range of injectors to fit early model Zeds but also to help combat the slight fuel starvation problem to No'6 cylinder, this is only really noticed when chasing the high bhp. So in short fitting the new rail kit has a very good advantage other than just allowing injectors to be fitted. Only downside with the 850's is am not aware of anyone who does a chip to run them. JD might be able to play with a 740cc chip to help you get things running, but unless he does a custom MAP or you run aftermarket engine management, then you may be stuck. Simply decide on a final goal power wise and that will help you decide on what parts to use. :) smithy
  3. Dohh, soz Stu having a bad day :p Yeah option 3 is good too, bin the old Zed and get a nice well modded new powerful one ;) smithy
  4. Legrath has got it pretty much right IMO. Option 1) For example Zedworld, 1.5K all in gets you a fully tested engine which is then fully serviced including cam belt etc, fitted and set up, all done in a day or 2, so no down time and comes with a warranty. Could last for years and maybe not and adds no real value to the car. Option 2) Find someone who you can trust to do the rebuild, at present i'd only trust the likes of Jimmer. 1.5K will only cover the labour costs if your lucky, then theres the cost of parts and the down time could be weeks. Once fitted it needs set up correctly and finally it adds very litle value to the car BUT, can be the basis of upgrading the power in the future, if thats the end goal too. So all it comes down to what the guy is looking for in the next couple years of possible ownership as to the best option, some will be a simple drive in and drive out warrantied engine and some will be the rebuild option. ;) smithy
  5. Oh man bad news mate, if i had a trailer i'd happily help yer get it back. I think getting the car back is the most important thing and asap too before costs mount up and you never get it back. Certainly theres nowt worse when your down on your luck and life kicks you in the face again!! I can help with the costs though, sort out the recovery company and have them ring me and i'll square it for yer, just sort me out one day when you can, idealy before i retire, lol Oh and if it just needs a wheel putting on to make recovery easier, i'll see if Jeff will send you a wheel to use. Just let me know ;) smithy
  6. Cos by the time you've worked out your measurements, design and thickness to allow for the GTR disc Offset, you could have just bought em and fitted em! Certified and aerograde too ;) Just a thought! smithy
  7. Obviously cheaper to make yerself granted, but danny sells the very brackets you want and not made from any ole cheap grade ally either, just buy em ?;) smithy

  9. Well i guess if you only need one, sure. But don't forget NGK did plugs for the zed to suit the different countries and if those are jap import ones, the zed in japan was never meant to go over 112mph or over stock boost so can only be of the most basic design for our powerful V6 ?? Good luck anyways ;) smithy
  10. Incorrect mate, your making the same mistake many others do which often results in the incorrect plugs being fitted, your missing the last letter of the plug code. The plugs that were fitted to the zed from the factory were designed by NGK ONLY to be applicable to the zed. This link shows you exactly what your looking for, the 11c's you "may" get off the shelf, the 11b's you won't as the plug was only made available to the US market. Oh read both links, info is from NGK themselves. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showpost.php?p=859825&postcount=4 cheers smithy
  11. If your timing is "advanced" over stock it makes the car quicker at lower revs but then leans out at higher revs and can cause detonation. If your timing is "retarded" from stock, lower down the revs the car is a wee bit slower, but higher up the rev range it has extra fuel for higher boost. Certainly no harm in having yours checked to see what it is though :) smithy
  12. Well there are a few unbranded ones on the market, but for me it would be the nismo one. readily available and easy to fit, bout 100 bucks i think. For mapping, try any of the respected skyline tuners around perhaps, these guys seem to know their stuff. Richard bell at risingsun performance is southish and has a good rep ;) smithy
  13. Yep mines now at Jeffs bodyshop for a respray, again!! Last bodyshop in Leicester after 4K spent was a complete joke, they claimed they rectified evreything 2nd time round, erm nope  So it's in Tamworth now :) Just 1 thing about engine removal though, which obviously jeff can do for you as the bodyshop is opposite his place, if you want it done properly, it's all the extra bits that are attached to the inner wings that also take time to remove, quite some time, plus the degreasing part. So may consider masking them all perhaps. Zcentre do inner wing skins that you just spray which may help too. But deffo deffo look at other work done in any garage first and the set up they have, thats where i went wrong 1st time round :headvswal One last thing, i replaced every single exterior trim, windscreen scuttle panels and all door rubbers to make the job better and the end result better too :) Good luck! smithy
  14. Well personally if it was me, for now mate i'd leave it. When you finally get round to the mapping the guy doing it will identify if she's lacking fuel high up the rev range or at certain boost and bhp. If it is, you can add a higher flowing one if poss or go the twin route, either option won't require major work and won't effect the engine. That said, if he does think more fuel is needed, i would expect it to be at the upper limits of both the turbo's and injectors anyway, point am making is, don't expect a massive increase in power if more fuel is required and you do the mods needed. Oh you have got an adjustable fuel pressure regulator though ??? cheers smithy
  15. Theres a lot of hight powered zeds out there on the standard pump, which is one of the highest flowing around. What turbo's and injectors you running again bud ? This might help http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=78096 smithy
  16. Geez well after all that i must have missed the bit where you said what type of clutch you have, cos once known we could have told you if the clutch wasn't suited to your car perhaps, which in turn tells us possibly another issue that would save you the cost of simply buying another clutch, LOL LOL!! Unless Luke has built an extension his house and now knows how to transfer from his head what he knows down to his hands, the Zcentre don't work on zeds, unless he's using perhaps a third party to do "tune ups" on N/A's, good luck! lol lol smithy
  17. I would imagine mate that best stick a pic or 2 up, we may know the car if we see what it looks like, but also where abouts did you buy it from ? and where about you from so we can help with future advice. Welcome aboard anyways :) smithy
  18. Hi mate and welcomer aboard ;) By all means ANY info you have or pics, show us what there is as we may know the car anway. Link below to teh usual what to look for when buying a Zed, but to add to that, who has worked on the car previously and what was done, so any receipts is good. http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm cheers smithy
  19. Well done mate and pleased to see yer ain't going anywhere ;) cheers smithy
  20. Geez, after all that then, did think about the above? smithy
  21. I think once you start modding the car, you also start reducing the number of potential customers. Anyone would pretty much accept a stock Zed for cheap money even if it wasn't their ideal colour choice or manual/auto etc But once the mods get to the level of yours mine and some others Stu, the number of buyers who will settle for something just because that's the way it is, is massively reduced. I've known peeps to walk away from a very nice Zed, just cos they didn't like the spoiler or bumper or full bodykit, yet underneath that it is a great car. Only those interested in high spec zeds are them who i think are sensible enough (generally older ) to oversee what they may not like cosmetically and realise really what a bargain they are getting for an "all done and ready to roar" Zed. I know i've thrown something like 25K at mine, at 10K it would be a steal, IMO Think C'J has got the most for a modded Zed (eventually), but then i think his was up to around 30K spent!!! Smithy
  22. Have you any idea what type of clutch is in the car or where it was fitted ? any old receipts taht will tell you ? smithy
  23. Hey Si, don't have the Zed to hand, but this Pic will give yer an idea on how it fits in the lower opening and size etc. Smithy
  24. Decent Jubilees in stainless have always worked for me. I was pretty much the 1st to have a non HKS hard pipe kit here about 9 years ago and the clips are still in great shape :smash: smithy
