  1. Well John was on line yesterday so he is around. However as you havn't subscribed yet, your unable to send him a private message via the forum which he would receive on his PC and soon as he comes back on line here. So may have to wait. If your just after a chip, then DTA does very good chips too and he's in the traders section. smithy
  2. Erm that is one of THE highest torque levels on this forum bud :) that's what power wears a clutch out. Fist thing though before spending yer cash is have it checked. Oh and you'll not wear out the carbonetics twin plate or semi carbon unit so quickly. cheers smithy
  3. Hi mate, the RPS carbon will and is gauranteed to take what ever you can throw at it and still be totally streetable ;) however yep cost is the issue so thats out eh. Looking at your other post a puck unit is an on or off clutch not very streetable. Puck units wear out quicker than disc variants and cost more to replace, but they hold on average around 25% more power. The fewer the pucks, the quicker it wears out. A 6 isn't bad at all, but personally stick with a disc type IMO. Now looking at your troubles, am not wholly convinced just yet yours has worn out completly, a standard clutch in a high powered Zed would usually last months and your clutch is meant to be uprated, so am thinking something is not right here. Changing a clutch is not a specialist job and costs around 200 quid labour. Find yourself a friendly mechanic/garage who won't mind sitting the car for a few days, have the clutch removed and inspected, if it is completly worn you can get a replacement in the UK within 48hours and from the US via USPS in about 6 days, or 72hours via courier. So no mega off road time. Carbonetics twin plate is more affordable than the RPS version and has a pretty good reputation. I ran 475lb of torque and 414bhp at the wheels on my RPS Max series so that's also an option for you too. Good luck :) Cheers Smithy
  4. Fraid that's suited to a Zed with all the usual bolt on mods and chip etc, but not including bigger injectors and turbo's of a size with a 5 bolt design. However it is a bit early just yet for it to be slipping unless you've given kit plenty of welly! So maybe something ain't quite just right. Sozz :) Carbon carbon is awesome though, been on mine for a number of years and is sooo easy...;) Smithy
  5. Well Ant, you certainly got some responces there eh :D Certainly the likes of Cossies who run silly high levels of boost, a lower CR is best suited. The highest boost i've come across is Mac's at around 30psi. The average boost level for a 450-600bhp Zed is around 20-23psi. Your spec is nothing out of the ordinary and in fact as the cost of these cars fall, more people are now doing bigger rebuilds. Z1 were the company who commissioned Wiseco to do pistons for the Zed and they are probably the most used brand anywhere now. Off late and to special order of around 3 months, Wiseco for Z1, will do a custom CR for the mega mega high power builds that some are trying to attain in the US. The 2 top engine builders in the whole of America, Mike smith and Kyle puckett do not use a lower CR piston unless customer specified and even then rarely needed. None of the other top branded piston manufactures use a custom CR because it's not required. So finally in short, you will not see any benefit at your desired level or even any other possible level for using a custom CR piston. Good luck bud. Cheers Smithy
  6. Completly and utterly yes mate. Major major BIG builds would require a custom CR for like massive boost and like i've said, in all the years i've dealt in Zeds,(10 ) i ain't heard a single one in the UK who's done it! HTH Smithy
  7. Gotcha, bloody yanks, lol Only difference is between the TT and N/A compression wise, though wiseco will to order do a custom one. Never ever knowm anyone to get a custom compression set and i sold em for years :) So standard 8.5:1 fella. assuming your a TT that is! smithy
  8. People buy the pistons dependant upon size mate and the most common being 87.5mm as the stock bore size is 87mm. 88mm is purchased if the bore are damaged and require a full rebore. If your buying from a supplier of 300zx parts, that's all the info you need to know. cheers smithy
  9. So just to confirm you replaced the calipers bud ??? For the same type? and why ? But it does sound like a sticking caliper to me. As your in Birmingham and they said to you, "any more problems, take it back to them" have you done this yet or spoke with them ? cheers Smithy
  10. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpgimage.php?do=full&p=59&d=1206113556 That any good for yer! Smithy
  11. Well Fas, you got a few ideas there to ponder mate :) First port of call though is to be certain new turbo's are actaully required, as either way it's done, it's not a cheap job. So get it assessed properly mate. You've then got 2 options has to how you want to do it if it is the turbo's. No point in having 2 professionals battle it out as to which is best because at the end of the day if it comes down to the amount of hours for the labour cost, Daz's 6 hours a side and Jeff's total time, are very similar. Good luck anyway's bud, keep us posted. Oh an look forward to seeing your motor in the flesh again, i last seen it at JAE at Peterborough a couple years ago when we chatted ;) Smithy

Yes it will, assuming your looking at the ones on Lukes site ? i know cos i worked with Luke designing them and i run a Howe, snug fit mind ;) They are supplied directly from Danny at DTA to Luke. Again as above, involved in that too. The Howe is basically thicker than a Koyo not wider etc, so no probs other than a minor slight possible altering the support bracket to fit the Howe. Cheers Smithy
  14. Sounds pretty good mate, obviously though engine out means any other cheap jobs can be done more easily like various by passes etc. But how long does it take you on aveage with an engine in ? The guy who partnered Hiteq in Wigan used to do it with the engine in for the same reasons, but it still took around the same time for him.:) cheers smithy
  15. Well thats saved yer a few bob mate, 50 quid will do me thanks :D Still worth going down for the drive and have the zed checked anyways bud. smithy
  16. Dunno check the policy, with mine in the AA i have to be 2 miles away, yours maybe difefrent. When you checked the fluid though, was that by looking or removing the cap? as sometimes the latter can be different :) smithy
  17. Drive down the road stop and then phone the AA or similar and say yer stuck ? Oh and your fluid is okay isn't it ? smithy
  18. Well stock is actually a t22b turbo and the most common upgrade is a hybrid T25, hang on i posted this before, yep here yer go (http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=123368 I done a couple of posts in there mate. Point i was making, expect the worst cost, but deffo have it checked out properly, that way if it's summit else and it's easy, you'll be soooooo pleased at having saved a load of dosh ;) laterz smithy
  19. Dohh it worked for me when i decided to copy one of yer pics. Give me yer email addy and i'll copy and send em to yer if you like. laterz smithy
  20. Go to your rides, open what ever picture you want, right click your mouse and the option of save and save as pop up, click one of them and save it to what ever directory you have on your PC ;) smithy
  21. Hi mate, well for a fixed price and gauranteed job look at http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzd.html (half a page down) They can and certainly do look after every zed that comes in a yep even those with 20K plus thrown at them :) Check out the new workshop http://www.zedworld.co.uk/wizzaj.html However before they went down that route, they would actually confirm that they are satisfied the turbos's are knackered and it's not something else. A long drive to find out am sure, but it may save you a bloody big bill to pay in the long run. Oh and from my experience when turbo's are gone, it smokes on idle when the engines warm or hot and usually after boosting and suddenly taking your foot of the gas, a plume of smoke should come out the exhausts. HTH Smithy
  22. Pit,300zx:- Speed wise mate, well i was happily doing 130mph last year racing to catch the ferry home with no issues ;) So see no reason as fast as you like. That said you would not do it with the front fully up in the air obviously, lol Only problem i have mate, is am home in the IOM and the cars in Tamworth with the stuff in the back of the boot and now with personal issues, I don't know when am going over to pick it up, yikes Hence why i wanted to sell to someone who would like to visit Zedworld anyway and whilst there whipped the kit out and took it away. Oh the compressor takes about 4mins to fill the tank to full in the boot, once the tank is full, it's away you go :p cheers smithy
  23. Correct mate, that one plays no part in any ECU failsafe mode. smithy
  24. Sorry can't help with connectors as i never fiddle with mine :) But once battery has been removed and all codes cleared, each time the key is turned, it will automatically pick up any faults and record them. So yep check yer codes. smithy
  25. Jesus that's crap for a simple friggin oil filter :( Think maybe for parts that are the same across the board, jap owners ask us and us UK owners can give you are chassis numbers and away you go :) smithy
