  1. the max can hold some great power mate, had it in mine for years and after 3 hours on the rollers with JD both him and the operator were impressed that with 475lbs of toque, she held really well. There are numerous types of ACT and i don't just mean as in 6 puck, point me to the one yer thinking off. Some 6 puck clutches are only good enough for stage 2 turbo's! But the max has now 700lbs more clamping force than a normal unit and of course yer ain't using 500bhp everyday, 80% of your driving should be normal unless your a regular tracker. That all said, if i wanted peace of mind, then a decent twinplate is the right move and be done with it. smithy
  2. Ditto had mine for around 3 years now, great bit of kit  I wouldn't be too worried about the disclaimer, they introduced it because of the mega high powered Skylines that were being produced and box grenading is possible with any clutch unit if you far exceed the RPM's greatly, simply covering their arses just incase. They do however state you can throw any power at it and it won't fade and that was it's selling point and it bacame far more popular than many other twin plates on the market whilst still being streetable, which others couldn't. smithy
  3. Why do you think an ACT 6 puck is better than what yer have fella? if your concenred about the disc, just replace and upgrade, quicker and cheaper all round or are you concerned the clutch cover is worn? Few and far between peeps like a puck clutch thats for sure, which specific one are yer looking at? you sure it holds more power than what you got? The one good thing about RPS is that the manufactures worked with a top US Z specialist to produce clutches suitable to all different types of power ranges, they didn't simply re produce a copy of the stock unit and say yeah, we'll throw those bits together and that will work, know what i mean smithy
  4. Any clutch you go for and has the words "puk" in it, is an on off clutch and not the best for normal driving especially around town. Whilst it holds a bit more torque than an organic disc, it does wear quicker and costs more to replace. Also the fewer the puk's the harsher it is to drive with and even quicker it wears. The MAX that you have is used in Zeds from around 450-550 lbs of torque If you really want the gaurantee of long use, then most twinplates are best, but can be costly. smithy
  5. Neither mate, he has a map sensor linked to his AEM ECU Smithy
  6. Just do the ECU diagnostic check first, only takes 10mins and could pinpoint you to the sensor that maybe at fault. Certainly would do that before arsing around cleaning everything... smithy
  7. Advanced timing possibly caused by incorrect TPS setting. faulty 02 sensor(s) smithy
  8. No difference between import and UK spec, only between N/A and TT fronts only. smithy
  9. No mate, it's the other side of the rad and can only really been seen properly with the centre headlight panel removed. This will come on to quickly cool things down in the event of excessive temps, or in the event the ECU "thinks" it's high temps, hence cleaning teh temp sensor. smithy
  10. It is a possible ECU malfunction/problem but are there any warning lights lit up on the dash? Do an ECU diagnostics only takes 10 mins and it might pin point to the temp sensor for the ECU, which will need removing and a thorough clean at both ends. smithy
  11. Would you be willing to pay around 850 big ones for it? smithy
  12. No worries mate, thaanks for looking into it for me anyways :-) Private site eh, ooo eh Mrs :whistling: it's my username @manx.net mate and many thanks too. cheers smithy
  13. Anyone got the complete series 5 on DVD they wanna sell me cheap :flowers: smithy
  14. Also perfectrun.jp do ARC stuff. As yours is the older version, best take pics and measurments etc as they may be part of another ARC induction box kit for any Jap car, is there no ref number printed on the black plastic surround of the filters? smithy
  15. The sensor that feeds the gauge won't cause any problems, the sensor next to it which tells the ECU the temps, yes it would effect things, it adds extra fuel to the engine to cool things down. smithy
  16. Do a simple 10 minute diagnostics and it will tell which sensor if any is playing, maf or temp sensor smithy
  17. Any warning lights on the dash lit up while engine is running? smithy
  18. So do you think that the sumps were 1st removed because the customer or previous owner sometime ago had an oil leak and the garage resealed the sump, albeit poorly and in the belief that is what it was or are these the Z's now turning up from when Ryan aka Ztech tried doing engine rebuilds from the bottom?? :innocent: Smithy
  19. From what i "hear" too, it went down hill early last year and quickly too. Cars having to be taken away half worked on or not all and a "moving" of premises seems to have taken many many months!! smithy
  20. For me personally and it is only my own thoughts, i am not a lover of welded pieces of metal that will hold something fairly weighty and stop it from any movement during force. The bracket to hub is IMO 100% bob on, the caliper to bracket, wouldn't be for me personally. Only thing i noticed was the back of the weld seemed ground off to make it square with the edge of the bracket? A machined block of good quality material with no welds though more expensive, is the only way i wanted to do the GTR relocation kits i done, but as said above, based on my own thoughts and fears of repercussions. So please don't take this as an expert veiw or gospel :-) smithy
  21. That IS the answer to yer question mate. smithy
  22. Oh Groovy you are a naughty boy  Noticed that the item location wasn't always the same for each of his adverts. 1 said "Laxey" which is a town over here and with the company being called ISLAND, i wondered. Anywhere in UK called Laxey? smithy
  23. If the twinz guys end up manufacturing a load for Z1 ensuring they have all the US rights to them, i see no reason why they wouldn't knock up an extra 5 for the UK market, shipping direct has gotta be better than shipping Peru to Z1, Z1 to UK and of course the profit margin. So maybe worth seeing if 5 of you are seriously interested. smithy
  24. 350Z brackets arn't really common here mate as they were 1st developed in the US where 350z discs were readily and cheaply available as GTR ones over there were not. I developed the GTR brackets many years ago because for us in the UK it was opposite from the above :-) So if no one comes forward you can either source new brackets from US/Danny DTA or sell your 350Z discs and replace with GTR ones ( maybe cheaper) as the only difference is as you say, the offsett. hth Smithy
