  1. that is a big increase and my not fit on standard alloys. You also run the risk of tramlining.
  2. The water may not be the head gasket but the water pump leaking. If the pump isnt working because the belt snapped it will over heat. If the fan belt snapped it will over heat. When was the last belt change done? Stuart
  3. You didnt do something stupid like put diesel in your car? Becuase that what you described is what happens with some cars besides the water. The white fan moves all the time so if that isnt moving the fan belt is probably broken.

  6. It may be as simple as the clutch pedal needs adjusting. There is a problem with 5th to 4th while going quite fast but never head about 4th to 5th. Try double clutch. Press the clutch in to take it out of 4th. Release the clutch all the way, press it down again to get it into 5th and see if it crunches then. If it doesnt it means something. :confused: I know thats no help but I will find out what it usually means. I think its the syncomesh. Also check that the mat is not under the clutch pedal as it may block it from going all the way down. Stuart
  7. The lights are bad enough with out putting covers which blocks more than half the light just so you get a round light look.

MAS will cause the car not to rev over 3000 rpm. Do an ECU check and if it is any of those parts it will tell you Stuart
  11. I am not too sure. But I have heard if you want your car to run really well you dont get rid of it, you change it for a newer one. Stuart

  13. I think we will never really know the truth. I thought they where all 300bhp except the Auto, which I read in a 300ZX sales book is 280 bhp. The 1996 ZX dipped to 280bhp because Variable Valve Timing was dropped. So the way I read something if the power drops to 280, it must be higher to start with. The Nissan 300ZX was released before the 280PS came out in Japan and was expempt from it. However the Supra and GTO where released after the 280PS came out but where still allowed to release 320BHP cars. The dyno runs of stock UK and Jap cars to lean towards the 280bhp as people are getting 250 ish at the wheel for a manual. I would expect more around 260-270 at wheel. But saying that the engines are old and not running like the did when they first came off the forecort nearly 14 years ago. So that would explain some power drop. Hmmmm.   14. You cant really say that the US is 300BHP. Some states the Z is illegal because of emissions laws. How mad is that? Is like us driving legallyin one county drive into another and now your car is illegal. Stuart

  16. In theory you can get done for doing 31 in a 30. But if you take it to court it will get thrown out. The 10% +3mph is a guide line and not actually a law and it is up to each police force to say what allowance of error they give. Stuart
  17. We really need to see how long this smoke is lasting. If it goes quite quick then its water, but if it hangs around in the air for a while its smoke.
  18. Traction control is good for pulling off, but I was so light on the clutch that it only came on when I was testing out what the TC was like. I actually found besides when pulling off, TC does not make things better when cornering in the snow. I actually turned it off as when I felt the back start to slide I would opposite lock to compensate and get it under control. With the TC the back would start to kick out and then would cut in sometimes stopping the spin or sometimes making it worse. The worse thing you can do when the rear starts to kick out is let off the power compeletely. Stuart

  20. £4000 trade in is a good price. Lets consider my girlfriend was offered £100 for Corsa trade in dispite the average price they go for on AutoTrader was £1300.

  23. There where very few options I belive, even fewer on the UK spec and the UK basically got nearly the highest spec anyway. It is hard to say what was the orignial spec as the spec changed through out the years. Cruise control and HICAS is a Twin Turbo thing only and came as standard. They didnt come on the NA and I dont think was an option either.
  24. I also used my Z for a daily driver for 2 years. The petrol is the main killer. At 16-18 mpg around town £10 of petrol really quickly goes. Long journies are not too bad and you can expect to get 25-30mpg I have had a daily driver for about a year and I dont use it as much as I should, but it has already helped keep the costs down. :D
