Electric Aerial fitting
My standard aerial wouldn't retract fully, no surprise there then, so i've got an autoleads electric aerial from a local motorfactors, i've wired it up as the original was but i can't get it to work, this is the second one so i don't think it's the unit itself. Has anyone else had the same problem? Thanks Baz

Finally got a Z today.
I've left a deposit today and am picking it up on monday night. It's a Blue UK TT Manual with 99 spec front, 1993 L reg.. The owners are moving to Canada so i got it for a good price, as long as all is ok on the drive home. As long as the car drives home ok(100 miles) i'm a happy as a pig in s##t, it's by far the best one i've looked at. Thanks Baz

9" front wheels
I don't know what offset they were, they were mille miglia wheels and didn't use spacers, i sold them to markyb300, you could try sending him a PM and he may be able to tell you the offset. HTH Baz

9" front wheels
I had 9" all round with 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear but that was only because the wheels i had 8.5" fronts would not clear the calipers. Baz

I've won a Z on e-bay
I went to get it yesterday at 2.00pm and got back at 11.30pm without it :( The bodywork was no where near as good as it looks in the pics or the guy told me, and the top end of the engine rattled like a kids toy. So i'm still looking :D Baz

I've won a Z on e-bay
I found out how expensive they are with my first one with a knackered autobox, i had to drive it home from london to brum in second gear, cost me £80 in petrol. I had to sell up about 16 months ago due to other comitments and have regreted it sinse, i've been driving around in a 1.6 16v Vectra, took me a while to get used to the power :D I haven't seen the car yet, i'm going to test drive it before i hand any money over. It may be an auction but it doesn't mention any major faults so if it has any i'm walking away. Hope it doesn't though, looking forward to owning a Z again. The mileage isn't really that high for a 15 year old car, most of the early '90s UK cars available seem to be around that mileage. Baz

damn this bloody miss fire grrrrr
The crack is usualy in the exhaust valve and will be expanding as the engine warms up, the compression test would have to be done when the engine is hot and showing the fault. Baz

damn this bloody miss fire grrrrr
Hi mate, i hope it's not the case but i've had this fault more than once on renault engines at work, you can hear a mis-fire through the exhaust but removing each lead gives a change in engine tone/rpm, the fault in their case is a burnt/cracked valve. .. A compression test will be the easiest way to find it if it is. Baz

Bloody Vauxhalls!
To be fair i've had a number of vauxhalls and never had any probs, having said that, i sold my Z and have now got a vectra but i'm looking for another Z at the moment cos the veccy is just an A-B car with no :D factor............ Anyway i think youv'e been had, you don't need to remove the cambelt to do the cam or crank sensors and you can flash up the fault codes yourself with a paperclip. SEE http://www.topbuzz1.carenthusiasts.co.uk/info/fault_codes/fault_codes.htm HTH Baz

Petrol Prices
We are going to hit close to 89p a litre by the summer. Do you want petrol prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP at 77p -80p, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (And not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE Action: It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons (75p) Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso. Baz

mechanical or electrical?
To be honest, i would have thought electric would be more accurate cos with mechanical the internals of the gauges are basically springs being acted on by pressure or heat so over a period of time the constant winding and unwinding of the springs has got to cause some inaccuracy. JUST MY OPINION OF COURSE. Baz
