  1. just been looking for you lee and yes i think the oem ecu can do it but ive been looking at the skyline board as they basically have the same firing system as the 300zx take a look at this thread, Hugh is a guru when it comes to ecu's etc http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/85611-what-ignition-module-wasted-spark-set-up.html?highlight=wasted+spark Hope this helps Mike ps is the present system knackered or are you just looking to try something different?
  2. he may be assuming that your running an aftermarket ecu?
  3. not 100% but i know on the aem it has a setting to run a wasted spark system, also think the hks fcon can run the wasted spark system. be worth checking into before spending your money lee Mike
  4. also remember you will need an ecu which can run a wasted spark system, the oem one will not run it
  5. perv  :D
  6. how much do you pay
  7. Well i go for my meeting with the area manager tomorrow at 10.30am to find out if i still have a job or to be made redundent  On one side i dont want to find another job as i get paid well, great pension etc but on the other side i can get another job pretty easy as ive already put some feelers out and also get my £££'s redundency etc So having a few beers to forget it LOL
  8. tbh i dont think a wasted spark is needed unless your talking serious serious power, i would get the split fire coilpacks first and possible the hks ignition amp if needed but again your only talking after 600 bhp
  9. according to that calculation for a genuine 500 rwhp and keeping at a safe 80% injector duty and keeping the stock fuel pressure you will need approx 720cc injectors
  10. on the turbos you have i would have thought they would run out of puff at around 1 bar
  11. who do you work for buddy?? Mike
  12. this is something i looked into in a great detail and unless you have very deep pockets then forget it ;) cheapest way to get a proper seq box is to adapt the skyline box, you can pick up a rebuilt os giken s2 box for about £5k, it will bolt straight on which is nice but you would need a transfer box and then it plating up, all you then need is a customer prop making up. The only other possible problem is where the gear stick comes up but hey if you have gone to the trouble of all this then its not a major problem :) if you do all the above then you will have a 6 speed seq box that can handle upto 1200 bhp :) also with regards to changing without a clutch, yes you can programme say a motec or a aem to do a flat change but its not recommended if you want it to last, the only way of doing a seemless flat change is by fitting an air shift box, hks do one for the skyline but your looking at silly money, £25k+ i believe!! ppg also do the dog box internals for a zed which is about £3k and the os giken gear set which is about £3k fitted :) Mike
  13. the only problem with the silicon ones is when they get hot they go very flexible and tend to close up a little on the bends which will restrict the flow so if you do go for them go for a decent set ;)
  14. jesus some of these pics bring back memories  i will dig up my back up files and have a look ;)
  15. well the spec of that zed says it all, theres no way that zed could do a 9 second run, stock suspension, stock cams, stock diff!!! me thinks they got the time wrong on that one, when you see the cars in this country and the lengths they went to to get into the 9's ie the skylines, supras etc they you will know that it takes a hell of alot more than bigger turbos and some sticky tyres
  16. apart from greg dupree's car the other 2 that i know of in the usa running 9's run manual box's ;)
  17. certainly an interesting project to buy (if you were in the usa) tubs are upto 1000 bhp fueling is upto 800 ish rwhp at stock pressure looks like he's having a smaller rad fitted or you would need to get one to fit between the intake pipes one thing he is certainly going to suffer with and thats the diameter of the intercoler pipes!! wont go anywhere near 1250 bhp even with silly amount of nos as it cant flow it quick enough!! we put 63mm pipework on mine from the hot side to the intercooler :) edit hmm stillen intercoolers AND apollo intercoolers  also no mention of cams  with turbos like that cams are the most important thing or they will just not boost well at all and make little power :slap: hmmmmmm chipped ecu :nono: :slap: :mac1: what a plonker all that money and he has neglected the most important part of a big build
  18. all religion's are weird
  19. just been having a closer look at the engine and for a monster build with alot of money been put into it the engine looks very old and well rusted, also he/she has a hks twin fitted which wont take the power for very long, needs a triple or the rps twin carbon/carbon, also the plenum needs to be so procise and by the looks of it its not been made very well so unless its better on the inside then i forsee a cylinder starved
  20. a good hammering on the inner wing will sort that out  i think the turbos i was going to fit needs it hammering in about an inch :p
  21. actually looking at it, he;s running the border rail and 850cc injectors which wont be enough i feel unless he only runs the turbos at a max of around 1.4 bar ish before he runs out of fuel!! also suprised he isnt running adjustable pullies?
  22. looks interesting, they have copied the escort racing plenum and either have or copied the escort racing front mounting manifolds the turbos are garrett GT30r's if anyone is interested ;) if the turbos are run at full chatter then its a 1000+ bhp car :) by the way once the cambelt cover is on it wont be too bad as its only the front side of the turbo which is close and thats the cold side not the hot side so it sont get stupidly hot be interesting to see what fueling he is using? Mike
  23. Hmmmmmmm so he says
  24. knowing chrisc you will no doubt need to sit on a pile cushion for a few days now
  25. it was a good film but from the hype i was expecting it to be amazing but it just wasnt, just glad i didnt pay out loads to watch it LOL ending was a bit poor
