FAO Midlands people (& anyone else!): my Gig, this Thurs night (24th) in Birmingham.
That would be perfick Dave. I'll let Lucie know you're dropping by. Just watch she doesn't nick your clocks and pods...she's fallen in love with the LED/backlit thang after seeing 'em last time you were round! lol! :D

Should I finish Painting These???
Good to finally see some of your work matey. The one with the kneeling horned girl reminds me, stylistically, a little of Dorian Cleavengers work. If you don't know him, check him out sometime. He focuses a little more on fantasy pin-up art rather than traditional sword and sorcery (mainly acrylic on board) but it's still worth a peek. And he earns a packet from it ;)

lol ;) Dave, I'm over at the studio in Wolves tomorrow but if you want to pop in the shop on your way past, Lucie will be in (till around 5:30 I think?) and I can leave your ticket with her mate. If you can't swing by till later the folks will be around and they won't mind you dropping in at all chap! :)

Elements of the first are are already there (check out the chorus in Panic....albeit surrounded by a wall of guitar noise! ;)), the second might rear it's head in the future and, although I have a soft spot for a little West coast gangsta style (early Snoop rules ;))...er...it may have to wait for the remixes, lol :D ;) Cheers Darrell! :D

Thanks for the kind words guys :) Still blows me away when anyone says they like the stuff. It is a bit of weird one as the music is very much an amalgamation of lots of different influences: rock, punk, new-wave, alternative, goth, electro, D&B...the b@stard offspring of which hopefully works in it's own right. Wembley would be nice. (Understatement :D). Writing about a Z would certainly work up my "lyrical angst" quota for the month, lol! ;)

FAO Midlands people (& anyone else!): my Gig, this Thurs night (24th) in Birmingham.
I guess this goes out mainly to Midlands people but if anyone one else happens to find themselves in the area they're more than welcome (cheers Tony, will be good to see you!). My band "This Burning Age" has got our first gig with this line-up at Bar Academy Birmingham. Which is going to be weird as I only saw Jon Crosby's VAST play there a few months back and commented at the time I'd like to play there...and bVgger me if we didn't get an offer through a couple of weeks later :) There's three other bands on the bill and we're second from top billing (a nice position to ease us into it ;)). You can hear the tracks we'll be playing by clicking on the banner below which will take you to the MySpace site. Tickets are £4 in advance (probably a bit late for that now unless you're passing the Solihull area!) or £5 on the door. Think there's about 3 members coming already but the more people that go (and saying they're coming to see us on the door!) the better :) Cheers, Leigh.

This is doing my nut in: photoshop/font question...can anyone help?
I am officially an idiot. Thank you for that! I have accumulated hundreds of freeware fonts over the years and I couldn't see the wood for the trees so to speak. It was there alright, nestled in amongst the C's, despite it starting with an M. Arrrrggggghhh....:wack:

This is doing my nut in: photoshop/font question...can anyone help?
Ok. This is really driving me up the wall. I've got a shop sign to design for a friend of the family and what should be a simple job has turned into a bit of a head-scratcher. They specifically wanted me to use a Mono Type Corsiva font. No problem, I thought...but the damn thing won't show up in my list of available fonts in Photoshop (CS3). I know it's in my Fonts folder and it shows up in Word but not in CS3! Anyone know why and, possibly more importantly, how I can fix it? Cheers, Leigh.

A MASSIVE thank you to DCarey!

Finally getting going...and here's a few goodies to go on: Big Brakes and suspension
Not yet Chris as got the final clay modelling of the arches to finish yet! ;) But with the V8 now going in the blue shell I can take my time with it which is heap big pressure off me :) In fact, with the pressure off it's made me want to get on with it a lot more and figure out how to do things properly. I'm now doing the arches in a different fashion to the way they were originally made. I was always concerned that they could be subject to cracking etc where they joined the body through vibration/flex. When I was over at Alunox with John, Leon had a BMW race car in with a complete wide-arch kit and I had chance to have a good look round to see how the pro's did it (and took a shed load of photos ;) ). The arches are now being extended so they are in fact an entire front wing skin that extends all the way to each edge (bonnet, door, bumper and bottom...still in two parts mind...ie the majority of the arch on the wing and the leading edge seperate on the bumper...blending them into the bumper is just plain daft.). Doing it this way opens up so many more design possibilities and makes it a helluva lot more structurally sound. I'm bloody excited about it again which is nice! :D

Finally getting going...and here's a few goodies to go on: Big Brakes and suspension
After a long lay-off from the V8 project due to a combination of ill-health, getting the music/album/band off the ground (got a gig at Birmingham Bar Academy this coming Thursday 24th...all are welcome! :D ) and focusing on getting John's done first (quite rightly :)) with the aquisition of my new donor car from Paul at SWZ I've definately got the bug back again (after feeling a bit disheartened by it all for a bit tbh). Now I've got a donor vehicle I can continue working on the wide-arch Z and not delay the transplant of the VH as, to be honest, life is too short and I just want to enjoy driving the damn thing as soon as humanly possible! However, the break has given me chance to collect quite a few interesting bits and bobs along the way...and here's a couple of 'em: Fully adjustable SPL coilovers: http://www.splparts.com/main4/parts/Z32/Suspension/Coilovers/default.htm Hispec Monster 4 calipers (334 x 32mm) with drilled and grooved discs: I've got a set of 19" wheelmania Jade alloys+tyres I was going to put on until the swap to Image wheels next year but I'm now thinking I might give them to my other half instead and have the 18" Volks Racing rims I bought for her instead (she likes both luckily so no worries on that front ;)). They both look great (IMO ;)) but the Jades weigh a feckin' tonne and the Volks are as light as a feather...Hmmmm...decisions, decisions...:)

A BIG THANK YOU to Paul@SWZ...
Yup, very chuffed with it Nick. Just got to tie up a couple of loose ends with Paul with the logbook and some clear sidelights and she'll be ready to get stuck in. And I've got a few nice bits (er...aside from the V8!) that will be going on shortly...think I might post up a few pics tonight if I get time ;)

A BIG THANK YOU to Paul@SWZ...
Replying tonight chap! It's been a bit mental round here this last week :D

A BIG THANK YOU to Paul@SWZ...
Oh Jesus. "click, click...clunk"...that's the sound of me putting 2 and 2 together! You said "David" but you didn't mention you were on the forum...arrrgh! lol! It's only after reading the above that I've realised it was you! lol! :D Honestly, don't worry about the "zombification", it was more than a bit on the late side matey! :D ;)

A BIG THANK YOU to Paul@SWZ...
...for dropping off my new Z last night (Slick Pete's old Blue NA LWB)! And I really do mean last night as it was about 1:30am at the time which was absolutely perfect for insomnia boy here and hopefully mean't that Paul had a clear run on his way up to Scotland to pick up another Z (a journey and a half!). Paul mate, had a proper look round her today and I'm chuffed...she's a perfect donor car for the V8 :D Really appreciate your efforts last night (particularly in being conscious of keeping the noise down during the unloading so as not to p1ss off the neighbours....not that it would've mattered toooo much as the majority of them are a*rseh*les, lol! :D ;) ) Paul is a top bloke and I can honestly recommend him to other members without hesitation...just hope you had enough oil for the 4x4 in the end matey! :D ;) Hmmmm...might be time to start unveiling some of the goodies I've been amassing for her as, fingers crossed, with my health on the up and up again, I'll be getting stuck back into the project...lost heart in it all for a while there but the new car has really got me hyped up to get going again! :hyper: Leigh

A MASSIVE thank you to DCarey!
Think I would've preffered the "chips" option rather than the over-priced, poor excuse for a pizza I just had at a so-called Italian restaurant in Birmingham. Meh. ;) Yup, meeting up sounds like a good idea (I actually have a Z that drives and everything at the moment!...Albeit technically my other half's...er... ;) ) Honestly Dave, 'tis much appreciated! Just had confirmation that the Overclockers gear has been shipped and that the DABS stuff is due to go on the 18th (it's been the PSU holding it up suprisingly)....so not toooo long to wait! :D

A MASSIVE thank you to DCarey!
Just wanted to put up a post to say a big thank you to Dave for taking the time to come over today and help a borderline Neo-Luddite like myself wade through the endless list of options involved in assembling what is now going to be a high-end DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) for my home studio (on which the second album is going to be recorded). Mate, I can't thank you enough...she's going to be a beaut! :D It's people like Dave that renew my faith in the members that make up this "club". A top bloke and all round nice guy...cheers Dave! :duffer::duffer::duffer: Leigh

My Band needs YOU...*points finger*

Cheers mate, means a lot :D It's going suprisingly well so far...nearly 2 months down the line and we haven't killed each other...yet. :D And the "thank you" cards are sitting, staring accusingly at me, on the table across fthe way...you and Fiona will be getting one some time this millenia I promise chap! :D ;)

Price for Carbing Strut Braces these days?
Just wondering what the price for these is in the UK at the moment only I'm about to order some bonnet vents from my car/engine/aftermarket parts friend in Saitama and I'm half thinking of asking him to chuck in a pair for my other halfs NA. Can't really afford it right now but doing it all together could save a bit of money.

I want to replace my Advans!
John's had LM's on his car for years Si! Custom made fitment as well. ;)

Anyone here listen to 'Dream Theater'?
A lot of music in that genre is a bit to "widdly", a bit too much like ego masturbation, for my liking...I appreciate the skill but, for me, it overpowers the immediacy of any song that was originally there. As for guitar geniuses, this guy, Matt Marriott, a friend of a friend of a friend, has blown me away: no electric guitar, no effects, just him using his acoustic in ways that will blow your mind: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0X7lsnu-0M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0bbXIm9dso&NR=1

My Band needs YOU...*points finger*
For those who have been following it's progress and shown their support, and also for those that haven't come across this thread before, the album is.....FINISHED! I've mastered it myself in the studio but it's going off to be done professionally at a dedicated mastering studio once I find one I like. Then it's off to the presses for a limited edition run. It won't be ready in time for our first big gig at the Academy on the 24th (tickets available here: http://thisburningage.bigcartel.com/ )but it won't be far off now... All the updated tracks are now up on the MySpaz ReverbNation player, just visit here: http://www.myspace.com/thisburningage or click on the banner in the sig below.
