  1. Yup. As I say, it's his that has persuaded me to have it done! ;)
  2. Will take some as soon as I pull my ruddy finger out :D ;)
  3. ;) It's nice to finally be getting back on it. The wide-arch beasty has been a long time in the making!
  4. Flock it Vijay. John's had his done and I was so impressed I'm doing the dash and door-cards in it. Can't remember who John used (it was a company in Wales that do a lot of rally cars) but here are a few examples from a site pulled randomly off Google! http://www.suffolkflockingservices.co.uk/examples-flocking-dashboard.asp
  5. Not a stupid question. Far more problematic on a VG30DETT engine as a lot of the electrics are on the top of the engine.
  6. Had a rather nice package turn up on my doorstep the other day so thought I'd share with the group :D I ordered a few goodies from my "go to" guy in Japan, and this is what arrived... ...a set of genuine Carbing strut braces and a pair of exceptionally well-made URAS bonnet vents as sported on the SPL time-attack car! John and I both needed a solution to venting the bonnets on our two V8 project cars and it was he who suggested going for the URAS vent...and luckily I knew a man in Japan...and it seemed rude not to order anything else while I was at it. ;) Takehito is not only a great guy and a good friend but frankly I'm amazed at his efficiency. I took just 4 days from him placing the order to them arriving at my door. Astounding. And as yet, no VAT or extra UK delivery costs to pay (though sometimes these things take a couple of weeks so I'm not in the clear just yet). Took some pics of the vent on the bonnet of my blue shell (though I've now realised it's going to sit a bit further forward)....absolutely chuffed to bits! :D
  7. Yep. From what I understand, you can't have numbers on the side of your vehicle (or anywhere else on the car) on a public highway unless they are "struck through" with a line or cross of some sort (some sort of removable tape should do it). I may be wrong but I was told this at a classic and exotic car meet I used to go to that had a fair few vehicles in the same boat. :)
  8. Yeah, it's a bit on the infuriating side. Thankfully it's a clean break as he had no contribution to the album. The good news is I already have two auditions lined up. Both pro session guitarists looking for a project to sink their teeth into. Both have had albums out and both have been signed (Island and Polydor) and, luckily, both love the tracks and are very up for joining. I want to be back out there gigging quickly but part of me says don't rush it and make sure it's the right guy this time. Don't think I'm going to commit till I've played with a few different people. Thing is, with guys like these, it's not so much to do with how good they are, their resume speaks volumes on that score, it's how they get on with the rest of the group. That's the clincher at the end of the day. Only downer is that with tw@t-boy gone we're scuppered with entering the Orange Act Unsigned contest as once you submit your band members you apparently can't change them. Meh.
  9. My guitarist and I parted ways last night. This was partly down to musical differences. And partly down to the fact he was a tw@t. ;) I've got adverts up all over the place in muso-land looking for a new lead guitarist and I thought it can't hurt to put one up here while I'm at it. So... "Lead plank playing 18-35 yr old, with enough fingers to strum it with, and own teeth, wanted for Birmingham Band with own material and album. Alt/rock/electro. Influences: Pumpkins, NIN, Pixies, Depeche Mode, QOTSA, Postal Service, VAST, New Order, Rammstein etc. Gigging regularly. Looking for commited musicians who want to make it big. South Birmingham area preffered. Sense of humour probably a good idea." http://www.myspace.com/thisburningage I thank yaw. ;)
  10. On inspection I'd be suprised if that's kosher. It looks like a chop to me. And a wee bit amateurish at that! :)
  11. Really like the front bumper/chin spoiler combo. Particularly like the vented headlight panel. Rear spoiler/viper wings aren't for me but that's just personal taste. In fact I want to buy both bumper/chin spoiler and headlight panel, depending on what Luke's prices are like, for the V8 project car. Really nice car chap :)
  12. Cheers Mick, that means a lot coming from a fellow muso! :) If you get chance, check out Stay Forgotten and Stronger, Faster, Fitter on my MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/thisburningage ...might be more your cup of electronica. They've still got guitars but the emphasis is much less on them. You might like The Last Day as well! :D
  13. Anymore for anymore? Big thanks to the 3 members: Kim, TonyB and Apache that took the time to listen and comment but bit of a shame there's been no more! Even if you just leave the player playing in the background and comment with just a smiley face (like one band I've gigged with did!) it all helps get us noticed by the people "upstairs"! :D Leigh.
  14. Anything under a grand and it starts to make more sense (wouldn't pay more for it myself either). For a "proper" spray job where the finish is immaculate you'd be looking at £2000/2500. The finish you get with the vinyl "appears" (I'd like to see a car done up close and personal before comitting further!) to be absolutely perfect (as long as there are no bumps/dents/scratches in the bodywork prior to the wrapping from what I've read in the thread posted). If a company did do it I'd also be interested in what their after-sales/care consists of, if anything. Sharpy: can't email/pm you mate as you're not registered!
  15. AndyP posted about it a couple of days ago here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=115342 ...but it's good to read a thread where the owner talks about it himself. As I said on the previous thread, if I could find a company to do that over here in the UK I'd get both the Z's done in a heartbeat...
  16. Cheers Nick. If there's any chance of rustling up people to vote for us when it opens on Sept 1st it would be muchos appreciated :) There's a bit of a lull in August as our drummer and then guitarist have gone/are going on holiday but September should be a lot more interesting. We'll be back at Bar Academy again but our first confirmed date is Sept 27th at The Actress and Bishop off St Pauls Square in Birmingham. We're the opening act this time but hey, a gig's a gig's a gig ;) Details and address are up on our MySpace page mate.
  17. Big thanks to Kim and Tony B for dropping by, listening to the tracks and posting comments...every play and post helps get the attention of the bigwigs "upstairs" :D But, more important than getting noticed now is the actual voting next month so to attract listeners I threw together (and by "threw" I mean "spent a couple of hours working on"!) a clickable banner for our MySpace page which takes folks straight to our Orange Unsigned Act page. And, quite handily, it can also go in my sig... | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | V :D
  18. We've just signed up to "Orange Unsigned Act" : http://orangeunsignedact. co. uk/. It's about to go into Season 2 of the show that launches one lucky into infinity and beyond. Maybe ;) None of this X Factor crap either. For those that don't know, those bands who get through the online voting process compete each week by gigging. Ok, there's a ceratin amount of "staging" that goes on but essentially you get to perform as you would at any other gig, just you, your own songs and a pit of applauding/screaming/booing gig-goers just like you'd find on the circuit. Only bigger. The number of people and size of the venue...not the size of the audience members. Er...I think ;) And, thankfully, there's not a Simon Cowell in sight. Ok, there IS a record company suit in the panel (appears nice enough and knows what he's talking about if the first season is anything to go by) but he's also joined by Jo Whiley (Radio 1 DJ and all round muso Goddess) and Alex James (he of Blur fame. Who actually seems a pretty decent guy to boot) So, if you've got time, swing by our page there at: http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk/acts/this-burning-age listen to the 3 tracks that are up, post up a comment (play counts and kind words gets us noticed) and get ready for when voting begins on September 1st. We want this. A lot. Any help would be muchos appreciated. Cheers! :D
  19. And you say V8 but are you thinking Yank or Jap? The former is probably a lot less hassle as it's been done many times before particularly in the US so there's a fair few off the shelf parts available but there's something very satisfying about using a Nissan V8...however virtually everything you need needs to be custom made which = £££'s ;)
  20. lol! ;) Very good point. Right, better try and find one....Christ knows which one though! :D ;)
  21. Was really looking forward to it. Came out disappointed. It's in serious need of editing: it was just too damn long with several unecessary scenes that caused it to lose impetus and drag. Bale is one of my favorite actors but for some reason, probably the script, his performance didn't grab me like the first movie (which was exceptional). Ledger's performance on the other hand was spot on. In fact I left feeling I wanted more screen time for the Joker. Shame we won't get that again. I'm all for dark, brooding plots and political nuances but the balance, for me, was just too biased against the action scenes...they seemed few and far between and not as memorable as the first film. B- : could've done better ;)
  22. Cheers for that, thought a sailing place might be the way forward as in need of something substantial that's not all show and no go so to speak. Chris: didn't realise Demontw@ts did them...will take a look ;)
  23. Last call! ;) Anyone know where I could get some like the ones below for example:
  24. Alright Tony! We've got a bit of a lull in August as my drummer is away for a week then my guitarist is away for two weeks but September is sizing up to be pretty jam packed at the moment. Waiting for dates on a couple of Bar Academy gigs, but got one confirmed at The Actress and Bishop http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/26/26451/Actress_and_Bishop/Birmingham Weirdly, there's also the possibility of a festival but that's still unconfirmed ;)
