Customised email address...advice needed!
Just goes to show how embarrassingly lacking my knowledge of all this is!:o I've already got a domain name which is hosted by a top chap on this site, mtl (hi Matt! :D) so looks like I can get it sorted :D Cheers for the posts guys and thanks for the PM's Matt, I'm about to reply! :D

Customised email address...advice needed!
At the moment I'm using a bog-standard Hotmail email address for all band related stuff ( "thisburningage at hotmail . co . uk" ...apologies for the written "at"...thought it best in case of any spiders crawling the site...I'll take my paranoid head off now! :D ;) ) however, with the album promos and press packs ready to go out and the actual album on the horizon I'm a bit conscious that it looks slightly amateurish. Something like... "info at thisburningage . com" or "thisburningage at work . com" would be ideal (off the top of my head as I haven't drawn up a list of possibilities yet...I'm open to suggestions! :D). I'd just need it to direct all the email to the original hotmail account, and for me to be able to send replies with that address (if that's not possible it's no biggie I just thought it would be easier keeping track of everything if it's all in one place) Is there a free way of doing this at all? Cheers, Leigh.

Ebay account hacked.
I am the complete opposite being more than a little paranoid about security, tracking etc. For example, I usually run TOR, Privoxy and Peer Guardian 2 but as my computer is currently sh@gged I've reduced it to just the latter and now feel rather unprotected. If I was a "heavy" Ebay user with lots of auctions running when it happened I'd sure as sh1t care as Ebay automatically cancels the auctions and contacts everyone you've contacted telling them not to deal with you...

Ebay account hacked.
There are some utter c*n*s out there. Been on Ebay a fair bit recently in between being ghey and ill, trying to sort out a few things for my home studio. Went on again just half an hour after pausing for dinner and my account was locked and I had a letter in my email saying it had been compromised. In that half an hour someone had apparently used a brute force password generator, gained access to my account and used it to send unsolicited spam email to God knows how many people. My first reaction was to panic unreservedly as I had visions of them gaining access to my Credit Cards but apparently they're held on a different server. To make matters worse Ebay kept "timing out" every time I tried to follow procedure to reactivate, even when I only took about 10 seconds. I eventually got permanently locked out due to the amount of times I tried and was only able to rectify the situayion by contacting Ebay directly through their "Live Chat" service which I can now heartily recommend if somehing like this happens to anyone else. Now having to contact all those I'd sent messages to immediately prior to the hack as Ebay has contacted them telling them not to deal with my account plus I'm having to change my email account passwords as they could've got into those as well apparently. Annoying isn't the word  :(

Bristol Hifi show
Nope. But while looking for a suitable 45 per channel stereo power amp to run a pair of ls3/5a's I'm on the verge of buying I had my head turned by a couple of vintage Quad II's...apparently a gorgeous casing and a nice set of exposed valves does it for me...who knew...lol :D ;) Unfortunately I'd have to rob a bank or sell a kidney to afford a pair so it's looking like the Quad 405 is the more sensible option if I can find a good one at a good price off Ebay. I imagine shows like the Bristol one would be a good place to pick up gear though...

Recommended Scratch and Ding repair in the West Midlands?
Parental Unit #1 has just had the inevitable happen to her beloved car...it's been scratched in a supermarket car park (it's always a supermarket car park isn't it??) . Bloody typical timing-wise as well as she'd only decided the other day to sell it! Can anyone recommend a good paint repairer in the West Midlands, Birmingham or (if we're in luck) Solihull area? Might be a good time to get the few little scratches and dings on my other halfs NA sorted as well... :)

The new Prodigy album just rocks
Pendulum are fantastic. Though I have a vaguely funny story about them: seen them live a few times now and enjoyed "almost" every gig. I say almost as my best mate and I managed to get tickets for their "warehouse" show (and I do literally mean it was in a warehouse....underneath the railway arches in Digbeth, Birmingham...this was before the release of the new album)...had high hopes as the other gigs were fantastic. Unfortunately it was no-where near as good as the rest. Rob stayed at the back and barely sang, leaving Ben (who I think is the weakest member) to give a hackneyed "M.C." performance over the tracks. Plus, we both had the sneaking suspicion, as musicians ourselves, that both the bass and at least one guitar was actually a backing track (the selling point of the show was that it was a "full band" performance rather than the turn-table-ist-centric show they sometimes put on back then). Er...and being the arsey bugger that I am I wrote a long message outlining my concerns and posted it on the bands MySpace page (we weren't alone in feeling a bit let down that night as others in the audience were thinking the same). You could've knocked me over with a feather when, 3 hours later, I received a long message from Rob essentially apologising for the fact we didn't enjoy it (though he swore blind that the bass and guitars were live ;)) and inviting us along to their next show at the Academy, again in Birmingham! Frankly, I was suprised he didn't tell me to fVck right off, lol! Ended up having a chat with him about the state of music in Oz (generally speaking, Rock, Rock, Rock with a bit more Rock on top...i.e. Wolfmother!), the hazards of performing live and the new album. Nice guy :) As far as the Prodigy goes...loved them since "Charlie" but have to say it's waxed and waned a bit over the years. Hopefully this album is a return to form :)

Thinking of selling up.
Women can really screw with your head sometimes. Don't sell. At least not till your over this. Emotive knee jerk reactions can prove problematic in the long run and you don't want to regret a decision made when your head wasn't straight, so to speak.

Know this Zed??
Nope, don't know where he got that figure from. Standard charcoal coloured mats with the metal badge in good nick fetch about £60. Rarer colour variations possibly a bit more (tan etc.). :)

Want to see some good live music? Well we've got 2 big gigs coming up!
Will do Tony! :) Funnily enough plans are afoot on the latter...just taken delivery of a set of custom designed guitar picks (black background with our anarchy "A" logo in white) which will be included with each of the special editions and possibly a limited number of the standard albums :) Just coming to the end of sorting the album artwork so hopefully it won't be long now...the plan is to have them completed and ready for sale in time for the Hundred Reasons support gig on Match 29th...in fact I'll be putting up that post soon so people can put their names down if they want one :)

Righty-ho....the first of these two gigs is on this Friday so if anyone happens to be in the area and you want to see a night of good, new unsigned bands, come along! :) The first band kicks off at 8:30 and we're on at 10:30! :D

playstation 3 games recomendations
Post-apocalyptic scenario. North America, Washington area in the year 2277 (although culturally and aesthetically everything is very 1950's...although incredibly technologically advanced...picture the 1950's "World of Tomorrow" idealist vision of the future and you'll be pretty close to what things were like before the blast): the lucky ones fled to "Vaults"...underground dwellings with everything you need to survive a nuclear attack and the subsequent "fallout"...the unlucky ones remained topside...the really unlucky ones mutated... ;) Story is, you're born in Vault 101. You grow up and one day your Dad does the unthinkable and leaves the Vault...so you go after him.

playstation 3 games recomendations
About half way through 17! The level of depth and sense of autonomy is absolutely awesome, so much so that I've spent a lot of my time away from the main "looking for dear old Dad" Quest (now up to the bit where you need to find Vault 112) and instead whiled away the hours on side Quests and just exploring randomly! Currently trying to decide whether to screw my Good Karma and ditch the Mr Nice Guy Routine...I keep seeing other characters with nice gear and my trigger finger gets incredibly itchy...! :D ;) I love the fact you can get really lost in it...definately what I'd call immersive gameplay. Been meaning to get involved in a decent MMORPG for a while now and this game is making me think I need to just try and find the time...if I can find a good 'un that is! Just bought MGS4 "Guns Of The Patriots" as well...haven't played any of the MGS games since the first one on the PS1 but I've got high hopes that it's going to be equally as engaging :)

The litigious, compensation culture we live in...
Thanks for all the comments guys. The folks are feeling a bit better about things now which means I am as well but I know that beneath the surface they're still worried and this is the last thing they need. You sometimes forget what cretins this world can throw up...then you get stuff like this which reminds you. Sad really.

The litigious, compensation culture we live in...
Just off the phone from the insurers (after being thrown around 5 different people to finally reach the correct person to talk to!). They've said not to worry as they get 1000's of claims like this. Due to the height of the sign they don't think he has much of a case plus there were no witnesses or CCTV/security footage. However, they've advised us not to move the sign as it would be seen as an admission of guilt and they're sending their own assessor round to check it out (getting onto the local council isn't a bad idea though :)). We're now going to have to hang a sign on the sign asking people to avoid the sign...Monty Python anyone? The world has gone fVckin' nuts.

The litigious, compensation culture we live in...
Currently very p1ssed off. My folks, who own a hair/beauty salon (over 40 years in the same location) received a letter this morning from the solicitors of a waste of perfectly good skin who has decided to sue us. The reason: he walked into our sign outside the salon parking area (the sign that is about 5ftx4ft large I should add). Apparently the sign hangs 3 inches too far over the pavement and caused him to cut the top of his head (the bottom of the sign is about shoulder height so I can only presume he's either a midget or was limbo-ing at the time). Unfortunately this has completely stressed my folks out (and my wife and I tbh) and I can't stand seeing them so upset...they're good, honest, hard working people that truly don't deserve this kind of thing. What's worrying us is will this "overhang" negate the insurance? None of us are well off and if we're not covered this could really do some major damage. They're just trying to get a straight answer from their insurers now but with the recent snow fall the chap they need to talk to hasn't turned up to work! :( It's exactly this kind of needless compensation mentality that makes my blood boil. Really wish I knew who the little tVrd is...I'm presuming he's local as he's using a Birmingham solicitors. Sorry, rant over.

Want to see some good live music? Well we've got 2 big gigs coming up!
Hi all, things are starting to heat up (if you'll pardon the slight pun ;)) for my band, "This Burning Age" and as we've got a couple of interesting gigs coming up soon I thought I'd post up the details in case anyone fancies coming along for a night of copious alchohol and loud music... :D The first is at the Wharf 101 Bar in Walsall on Friday February 13th : http://www.myspace.com/wharfbar10 A great looking place in a nice waterside location it's a crackin' venue that makes a huge change from the usual "indie toilets" you sometimes end up in! ;) We're headlining the night supported by 4 other great bands plus a guest DJ (which is looking likely to be Emma Scott from Kerrang Radio). The second is a really big break for us. We're opening for Hundred Reasons at their show at the O2 Academy 2 on Sunday March 29th, in association with Kerrang Radio. Aside from us and the headliners there's also Johnny Foreigner as the other support act. It's going to be, quite frankly, awesome! :D Tickets are normally £11+booking fee but as we're playing we get a ticket allocation so any bought through us will not include the extra couple of pounds for the booking fee. For those that definately want to come if you put your names down in this thread I can put your names down on the allocation list, so you'd just settle up with me either before hand or on the night. It's only a saving of a couple of quid but in this current economic downward spiral every bit helps! :) For those that haven't heard us before, here's our MySpace page that has all 10 tracks from the forthcoming album "A Muzzle For The Masses" plus a couple of other random offerings thrown in for good measure (a home demo called "Nevermore" and a live acoustic version of one of the album tracks): http://www.myspace.com/thisburningage Cheers! :)

My band supporting Hundred Reasons!
Nice one Nick, cheers mate. TBH, the 13th is going to be a whole lot better. The venues MUCH more s****y, the night is bigger and better promoted, there's going to be a bigger crowd and we're headlining! Right, I'm now off to die quietly in a dark corner...see you on the 13th! ;)

My band supporting Hundred Reasons!
FAO Dave, Nick and anyone else making the journey over to see us tomorrow: so sorry guys but we've had to pull out due to serious ill health. Really sorry to let people down but fingers crossed we'll be back on form for Feb 13th.
