  1. They're made up from ex-members of The Undertones (yep, those Undertones, that originally were fronted by warbley Irish legend Fergal Sharkey!) and they've been going since the 80's with a few breaks here and there. Well, they're about to start their UK tour and, bizarrely, my band are supporting them on the opening night at the O2 Academy 2 in Birmingham, next Wednesday, July 1st! You can check 'em out here: http://www.myspace.com/thatpetrolemotion and us out here: http://www.myspace.com/thisburningage Apparently they're a fantastic live band (to be fair, they should be good at it by now! :D) and have quite a loyal following so the show should be a blast! If anyone fancies coming I can get you on our door list which means you pay less (just a fiver!)...just PM me your full name (or put it on this post, whichever you prefer) and I'll sort it :) We usually play gigs at the smaller "O2 Academy 3" next door but, after supporting alt-rock-Gods "Hundred Reasons" a couple of months ago at the larger Academy 2 to a packed out room, we've all kinda got a taste for it...can't wait till Wednesday now! :D :D :D
  2. Really appreciate that offer chap, thank you! Luckily though, Jak the Ruby, a long standing member of the Z Club and the "other" forum, who's a printer with 14 years experience under his belt, has well and truly stepped into the breach and saved the day. He's taking a look at the files and it now looks like the album release is getting back on track! :D
  3. Urgently in need of some help/advice or, if you've got the time, for someone to cast their eye over a print project for me if it's at all possible. For those that don't know, I'm coming to the end of what's been a very long road in getting my first album written, performed, mixed, mastered and now printed and pressed...and it's at this final hurdle I've hit a snag. I thought my artwork submissions were to spec but I've just found out there's an issue with the design for the 4 Colour Lithographic On-Body Print for the CD itself: the black I've used has come out virtually grey in the proofs and the printing house has strongly suggested I use Pantone colours (it's essentially a large, plain white, letter "A" on a black background which I asked to be printed on a white disc rather than silver)......and I genuinely haven't got a clue how to go about doing this in Photoshop (CS3)! :( I've done everything myself from start to finish and literally spent every penny I have getting the album together and I couldn't afford for their design team to take it on but, even so, I think I've put together something pretty good...but it's this Pantone issue that's got me stumped. TBH, I'm really worried that I'm going to fVck it up and be charged another re-submission fee (didn't realise I'd be charged to resubmit as they've essentially only looked at it so that came as a bit of a nasty shock tonight :( ) and it's made me worry that the rest is ok (feeling pretty sh1te and down tonight about it all and the mounting cost but that's not for now) If there's anyone that can help me out and/or take a look at the artwork to check it's ok I would be seriously grateful (and of course would be more than happy to sort that person out with a copy of the finished product if they so wish...) Cheers, Leigh.
  4. This is going to sound like I'm trying to be all big and macho etc etc but, "intense"? Everyones pain threshold is different so it's a subjective point but, from my honest point of view, with machismo firmly set to the "off" position, I disagree mate. After speaking to friends (some of whom are heavily tattooed and one of whom is a tattooist...ah, the music "biz"...lol ;)), from talking about it with my wife (who annoyingly, currently has one more tattoo than me...something that I thihnk needs putting right shortly! :D) and from my own experience under the needle, the pain is definately there, no doubt about it, but it really isn't as bad as some people make out...it's more an annoying pain than anything else. For men, the problem areas are supposed to be the abdomen, spine and ribs (one of mine runs over my spine and I'm a skinny fecker so there ain't much skin over the bone, lol :D) and for women, the spine and ankle (one of my other half's is on her ankle) and yep, the pain does increase when doing those. There's also the artist themselves: a heavy-handed artist can themselves cause more pain than is necessary. But aside from that...well, as I said before, it's more annoying than anything! :) As far as the original post goes...if you're going for a Tribal design, I'd try and make it a bit more individual if possible. There's a heck of a lot of tribals out there and, tbh, they can look absolute g@sh if you're not careful! You can easily end up looking like every other Tom, Dick and Harry. For example, John (Dixon) on here has a good tribal over his shoulder/arm, done by an ex forum member...really different from the norm.
  5. I went through Coz the first time I bought Z parts from the States about 6 years ago. Absolutely disgusting. I got halfway down that thread before quitting (as they all started saying essetially the same thing)...there are going to be a lot of very angry people out there. I imagine he only confessed when he got found out.
  6. I'm sure it'll look pretty cool when it's all painted up properly. :smw::tongue:
  7. Quite right, I was mis-remembering. That interior was out of this other white fridge ;) :
  8. There was a thread concerning the original car a while back with photos taken for a German site. The interior is/was particularly nice:
  9. No need to confirm again chap, just seeing if there are any more takers :) As before, I don't think it's fair to ask for money till I get a confirmed date from the pressing plant but, as soon as I do, I'll be posting up/emailing everyone with details for payment and postage! :) Thanks again for supporting the cause though Dave! :D
  10. Hadn't really thought about it Nick! The answer is...er, yep! :D Thanks man, glad you like it and every purchase is definately very much appreciated! It's all being ploughed back into the music so I can keep playing live and put another album out next year. I've got 5 definates already chosen (including "Nevermore" which is on the MySpace page in it's rough demo version form): 1. "Nothing" (which we play live now...a fast and loud screamer to kickstart the set that barrels its way in at 170bpm :D) 2. "Brave Nu World" (spelling is on purpose...political and social commentary mode firmly switched to the ON position ;)) 3. "Guess" (working title...another 160bpm screamer) 4. "Conceal" (still needs work but getting there...one of my favorites at the moment) and "Nevermore" at 5. as mentioned above (piano, electro and big orchestral strings). I'm this far away from finishing the (albeit very modest!) studio...all the equipment is now in situ, just need to buy a couple more 12u racks and finalising the acoustic treatment (all DIY and on an extremely tight budget so it's taken a while!)...so from now on, I no longer have to rely on using anyone elses recording space, which I have to say is a massive relief. :) We've also just taken on Management so, fingers crossed, things are on their way...BTW, if anyone does the Twitter thing, you can find my inane ramblings about life (and occasionally music ;)) here: http://twitter.com/thisburningage
  11. Was planning on a more definate announcement tonight but things have got delayed somewhat. I was hoping to say that I'd received £450 from the sale of my lightweight 18" Volks alloys this evening, the money I needed to pay off the final installment for the album BUT, the buyer has had to put off coming over till tomorrow or Saturday... So... ...despite this slight set back, it looks like we're at the final hurdle folks :D If you want a signed copy of the album (to flog on Ebay when I'm famous), including one of our specially branded, heavy gauge guitar picks (designed by moi) which are only being included with the albums as a one time offer for those that sign up on this thread (also to flog on Ebay :D) then put your name down here! The album, supplied in luuuverly Digipak form (again, designed by lil'ol me), and will only cost £7+postage (hopefully a price that's right for everyone :)). So if you feel like supporting your friendly neighbourhood, impoverished, shaven-headed, anarcho-capitalist song-writer...post your name here! :wack: :D ;)
  12. Nope. I brought over 2 SPL vents through my mate in Japan, one for John and one for me. Same as the ones on the SPL time attack car :)
  13. Ditto with Alan. I've liked Soarers for a while but prefer them modified. Nothing hideously ostentatious, just a set of deep dish rims and a very subtle kit to give them more road presence. Very nice cars if you're looking for something in a "luxury" barge...I could bring these over all day, seven days a week from my car import/export buddy in Japan but, as you say, the market value over here is astronomically bad.
  14. Look like Uwe Gemballa alloys...sold a set a few months back and there's one for sale (albeit in black) on the forum now!
  15. Happy Birthday Dave :) (sorry it's a bit late in the day now tho :o )
  16. John's spot on: the video really doesn't do the sound of the engine justice...it's truly insane. When I was videoing John on that long run that starts at 2:24 you could hear the engine well after the car had disappeared out of sight! We spent about an hour and a half out and the entire time I had a big grin plastered all over my face...the car really is something else. It's the reponsiveness that really got me...an on/off throttle response that simply blows you away it's so immediate...flex your foot and you're pushed back into your seat! And I'm speaking from experience as I got a shot in it up and down that long stretch of road mentioned before. Fast doesn't begin to describe it. And that's without mapping and the rev limiter set to 7500...Christ knows what it'll be like after it's run-in, with the mapping done and the limiter off so she can hit 9 grand...A truly stunning car.
  17. Absolutely love that!
  18. ...and apparently you also live in an Enid Blyton novel. :wack: :D
  19. Just got back from a weekend away hence the delayed reply! Cheers for that chap, I'll be ordering one today then! :D
  20. Oh and, re: the above.....sully an engine like that with 'orrid turbo's?? Wash your mouth out! ;)
  21. Just got back from Stratford and the video was the first thing I checked out matey! :D I'll be round in the week for V8-related-larking about...I feel a video camera+quiet industrial estate moment coming on! :D :D
  22. So all those I've singled out are compatable? Just wanted to double check as this is definately not my area of expertise! :D
  23. Sorry to be a PITA but if anyone has the time to cast their eye over the HD's I've found it would be great to know if a) they'll fit and b) which one is the best (if any of them! :)). Cheers, Leigh.
  24. Hey Tony. I'm still planning on doing the special editions but I'm having to put them on hold for a bit as I literally have no money left for materials to make them! :( Getting the album has truly cleaned me out and as I'm covering all the costs it's crucified me to be honest. The only funds I have left are those set aside for other band things like hosting the website, getting a PO Box, buying another lot of badges and guitar picks to sell etc and the money I set aside about a year ago to finish my V8 Z and tbh, I don't know how I've resisted dipping into those! I've literally gambled everything on this album and the band as a whole and if things don't take off...well, I'm trying not to think about it! :) There WILL be a special edition but I'm going to have to sell some paintings before I can get them out the door! :) (I'm currently working on a series of Z paintings...been talking about doing it for an age and now I've finally got my skinny white ass into gear, lol! Fingers crossed I'll have the first finished piece done and dusted by next month...I haven't mentioned anything as I didn't want to break any of the rules as the Mods have been very kind already letting me sell the album here, but a quick search on t'interweb of the usual suspects should find them when they're done! :))
