  1. sorry mate, but yours is more exact, dont look at it as a failure:D
  2. looking at that system, it looks as if they have used two smaller cones rather than a larger one. Surely that will not double the air flow??
  3. geoff, Stick an appropriately sized pic in your rides section, then go to cp panel, edit profile and attach the pic there using the url of your rides section and the title of the pic HTH Hugh
  4. Marc, why yopu selling yours?
  5. The problem, sometimes, with tyre fitters is that they put the nuts on with an air gun, then go round with a torque wrench. The only situation that this would make sense is if the air gun is set to a lower torque than the torque wrench. ie if your air gun delivers 100ftlb of torque, then you go round with a torque wrench set at 80ftlb, you would be as well going round with a feather duster. The whole idea is that the nut is set at the torque, not less than or more than. There is as much possible damage from nuts torqued too high as too low, even more so if they are unevenly torqued. The scenario above only shows that each of the nuts is torqued at >80ftlbs. Try using a torque wrench to undo them, see how much torque is actually in the nuts, then re - tighten with a torque wrench :) HTH Hugh
  6. Evening all, My car failed its mot today on some silly things, most of which are well in hand, The one I didnt know about was a blown headlight biulb, tried today to source some PIAAs but cant get a hold of them before the 5 day free retest envelope expires. You know youre doing yourself no favours by bringing your reading matter to our attention, right?:D
  11. The only time i have heard of nos on a TT is for filling in any turbo lag, but wasnt aware that the TT suffered from that. If you are going to stick it on "top" of the turbos, you are going to need some internals done, pistons, conrods, stronger clutch done to handle the power. But, as i said, mine is an NA, so I could be blethering :)
  12. going to show your missus that post steve.lol Show you for being a stirrer.lol
  13. Stu, the progressive comes in at £300, with all the various bits and bobs my kit cost over a grand (there is a second set of injectors for the zed). Have been casting a sly glance at my S70 volvo (daily driver) thinking it would benefit from a shot of laughing gas.lol Was thinking of ordering the gas through my company, that way i could tell BOC it was for some fancy welding process :)
  14. the cat sensors go up through the body work and into a black box, which sits under the centre console behind the handbrake. When you are in the shop, or before, cut the sensor wire and tuckj it out the way (the plastic cable tray that runsd the length of the car is a good place) thenm when you have time, take out the centre console, look behind the handbrake and you will see the two wires (you can tell them they are covered in stainless braiding) going into a black box a little smaller than a cigarette packet, unplug the box, pull the wires through the floor into the car, making sure you ahve removed the clips that hold them to the body, and the end pieces, or you will never get them out. A very simple job, 3/4 of an hour. Hope this helps. Hugh Also got my exhaust made at a place called longlife exhausts, they give you a selection of sound levels, from quiet through to sporty, can you guess which way I went .lol
  15. I am in the middle of fitting a 100bhp Nos kit to my 300 (its an NA) it is easy to fit a standard kit, which will cost you in the region of £500. The problem that i had with the above is that I dont fancy chucking 100bhp/ 200ft/lb of torque through my back wheels at one hit, so am fitting a progressive controller (allowing a preset build up of nos, over a predetermined time) (also its another gadget) this has the benefit of controlling the power and making your nos last longer. The 11lb bottle i have is said to last around 60-90 seconds, doesnt sound a lot I know, but factor in this: a reasonably fast car will do a standing 1/4 in 14 secs, Nos is only used at wide open throttle, so that is between 1 1/2 - 2 miles on full tilt Nos and WOT, the controller cuts in between 30-60% through to 100% over a time of 2-9 seconds, which again is increasing your FT/WOT time. I would ask how many people on this forum regularly use WOT for 1 1/2 minutes over a distance of two miles, not many I would suggest. Road conditions/ traffic dont allow it. If you are going somewhere like a track, you make sure you have enough gas (an 11lb co2 fire extinguisher has the same fittings as a nos bottle and is a dam site cheaper) if not it is a little surprise for the traffic light grand prix laddos. Having said all the above, i have been looking into the cost of a cylinder from BOC and the filling kit is about £30.
  16. Think this is a blinding idea, if it enables the FAQ and taps Andy's obvious knowledge
  17. stuart, go to download.com, get a copy of popupstopper from panicware, does exactly what it says on the tin. If you stick with the free version it does a few ****y things, but better that than those stupid messages, one of uncle bills gifts to the world hugh
  18. never underestimate a nice bit o bread and jam, and if it doesnt settle your stomach, tastes exactly the same on the way up as it did on the way down :) Thats as close to sympathy as i get :)
  19. The "cheap" method robs one in three of the electronic signals from the speedo sender, so everything that is run off that signal will be running at two thirds, which is an approximate calibration from km to miles. Couple of points that were made to me when I did it at first (and the reason why i eventually went for uk clocks) It is not an exact figure, so you may need to get your speedo recalibrated The idea of robbing everything of one third of the speed signals, including the ecu, worries me, if the ecu doesnt know what speed you are doing, how can it accurately assess the amount of fuel you need? There is a 33ohm resistor on the back of the speedo which you can change for a 20ohm one which does the same thing, but only at the speedo cluster end. But to be honest i found it sat easier in my mind to change the clocks for uk, and to have the limiters removed at the ecu HTH hugh
  20. Seems to me that there is a growing number of NAs running about here, and so would make sense for us to get our heads together on some group buying, as most the kits is designed for the TT (being more common and temperamental.lol) I am looking at the INJEN hard pipe set from Smithy, any other NA owners fancy that, we can maybe get the price down?? If there si anything you have in mind, post it below and lets see what we can do Hugh
  21. Nice pics, Good, as always, to see you guys.
