  1. My view on this: Everything in life has an evolutionary order, food chain or pecking order call it what you will. The Max Power lads may be the bottom of that particular order, but they are also the broad base of the pyramid. Fom that broad base come some young guys who are interested more in the car than the birds (though not too much :)) and these (without waxing too lyrical) are the future of the forum, these are the guys who will in years to come rebuild the zeds that we are happily thrashing the nads off today. Great oaks from little acorns grow, and from spotty little oiks grow the car enthusiasts of the future. I for one cut my teeth on capris and RS mexicos ( the boy racer cars of my youth) and a lot of the guys I knew then are not into cars, but ( and this is the important part) some of us are. Dont slag off guys who are starting out on a path, just because you are lucky enough to have gotten to where you want to be. Rant over except a) The kids are alright (sic) and b) why pink or brown, why not pink and brown?
  2. yours might not be on that pic stu as thats an NA engine your looking at, and they (as you all know) are far less complicated (and therefore less likely to go Boom) Hope this helps :D
  3. What do you mean maybe? JK:D
  4. I put a longlife on my NA, a couple of the TT boys have them as well, handbuilt from t304 stainless, lifetime guarantee. Best part is you can choose your sound, I have a very loud pipe (which is probably not what you are looking for) but Cybernet has a quieter version (you can still hear it but not obtrusive at all ) Look at http://www.exhausts.uk.com HTH
  5. may want to put this in the advice section mate, would help if i could but know nothing about autos

Dont know about the strip, but think it could be useful for surprising people away from the lights :)
  7. Whats wrong with the "brown or pink " question?:D
  8. bit late, but all the best mate :)
  9. where you been hiding ginge?
  10. you need to get out more mate.lol
  11. sorry to hear that mate, hope it all come right for you
  12. Dont know why you would be sore from the spitroast, considering the humping you got off the guy who sold you all those "performance " parts for your car :D You notice that although mike looks about to give him a fgood slapping, he is still giving his best "yes master" loving look. Reminds me of the Gimp getting out of his box
  13. Now you mention it..... Wondered where you had got to :D
  14. A bloody good day, met some people new and old and had a blinding laff. Cheers to all the guys who put time into organising it, and to all the people who made it a great day. Stu, dont know from Chrissy's , I had 165 RWHP, 223.6 CBHP, with 196.6 ft/lb of torque. i will say there were a lot of cars which I expected to make a lot more than they did on the day (AdamR, Pete "the parker" Shrimp, PaulC ) but what do I know?? Thanks for the pics, paul, NOS next time, guaranteed :D
  15. Rich, The usual route is exhaust, induction, ecu. These are the easiest to do and reasonably cheep. (you will have probs finding an ecu chip for an NA tho :() from then on depends how far want to go money and work wise. lightened underdrive pulley, headers, polished and ported head, racing cams, all thoese add power but cost some and involve a fair bit of work in ascending order. The reason I went for NOS is that it is reasonably cheap, easy(ish) to fit and, if you fit a good kit and stay withing the limits of the engine, doesnt put undue strain on the mechanicals. The 11lb bottle i have is said to last around 60-90 seconds, doesnt sound a lot I know, but factor in this: a reasonably fast car will do a standing 1/4 in 14 secs, Nos is only used at wide open throttle, so that is between 1 1/2 - 2 miles on full tilt Nos and WOT. The problem that i had with the above is that I dont fancy chucking 100bhp/ 200ft/lb of torque through my back wheels at one hit, so am fitting a progressive controller (allowing a preset build up of nos, over a predetermined time) (also its another gadget) this has the benefit of controlling the power and making your nos last longer., the controller cuts in between 30-60% through to 100% over a time of 2-9 seconds, which again is increasing your FT/WOT time. If you are going somewhere like a track, you make sure you have enough gas (an 11lb co2 fire extinguisher has the same fittings as a nos bottle and is a dam site cheaper) if not it is a little surprise for the traffic light grand prix laddos. HTH Hugh
  16. In fairness Jezz, from your pic , it looks like you have put a lot of dough into your car, and fair play to you for it. But, if i chose to, I could put a similiar amount of money into mine and get another 100 ponies, in fact , once my Nos is up and running (which, cos i am a disorganised tw@t its not) I reckon my NA will be running around the 350 mark, taking into account the nos, pipe, induction kit, and ecu mods (not to mention all the mass i saved by tearing out anything I dont recognise :) Not only that, but my 100bhp/200ft/lb of torque will be an instant kick up the arse, rather than waiting, albeit a very short time, for my turbos to spin up.

Cany say I remember mine looking like that , but from your description, if the chevrons are pointing towards the bottom of the dipstick, I would suggest that is the maximium level, with the hot square being the minimum for operating temp. Stand to be corrected tho :)
  18. Wait till you blow the tits out of your turbos and pick up a 1500 quid bill to replace them, then talk about permanent solutions :) Shame you dont like the NA, but thats personal choice, love mine to bits :D
  19. Know what you mean, just watched that and feel the need to go out and buy some LSD :)

you could put one in each pocket. Then every time you put your hand in there to buy something for your car, it will remind you to check that they fit first :D

All the very best for your day and the future
  22. Mac, Tell me you dont have carpet in your garage?? :)
  23. lol, was including the petrol down there and all the money I spent on mags to read cos you work in a one horse village :)
  24. Got to say here, I like the supra, its a nice motor, not my choice, but then neither is the TT zed. blacktrdsupra, in my opinion (and I speak only for myself, not the forum) you dont owe anyone an apology, you are defending an unjustified attack on your personal choice, quite rightly so. If any apologies are owed, it is this forum to you MY thoughts on it
  25. Just spent £200 getting mine made like that, you want to take them off?? You are right tho, does make reversing in the dark fun:)
