  1. Depends if you have deleted them at the power steering pot end. From the driftworks site: "The kit removes the HICAS steering rack, the tie rods, the tie rod ends and the outer hub end ball joints, replacing them with: Two very high quality British built brackets, that bolt into existing holes in the rear subframe. (no drilling required) The tie rods and ends are replaced with a heavy duty toe control arm, this gives full adjustability, and uses high load 3 piece teflon lined Japanese bearings. These are not service items as some other manufacturers use, they are fit and forget self lubricating rose joints specced for the European roads. The outer ball joint is replaced with an uprated Driftworks Polyurethane bush completing the removal of every part of the HICAS system." Or this thread is really helpful:http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?mode=hybrid&t=290605
  2. no i would use a screwdriver :lol::lol:
  3. You havent connected it to the speed signal from the plug that normally goes into the top plug hole you have marked. The green wire from the convertor needs to be connected to the speedo signal from the plug, which you will need to cut and crimp the two together, take a look at this, might be a different colour combination, but shows you what to do. NB the convertor will not work with all the wires connected to the back of the speedo, unless you have made a cut in the copper track for signal or spliced it to the incoming speedo signal. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=117157
  4. Any habidashery for suedes and leatherette, but i found leather hides cheapest on ebay.
  5. The idle is adjusted with the screw in the air intake valve at the back of the plenum, the screws on the throttle bodies are to balance the two so they open together.
  6. It can be time consuming and monotonous lol, but you probably know that already.
  7. I bought my first kit from Halfords, then started building up bits of ebay, just type in metal polishing and you can get some good deals on polishing wheels and bars etc. you get the polishing bug pretty soon after you start lol
  8. Yep, get yourself a polishing kit from Halfords, about £15 and use the sisal mop head on a drill with the brown bar first, will come up a treat.
  9. Congratulations on your new zed and welcome to the club, sounds like youve bought a nice example. Look forward to seeing the pics and if you need any help just ask, nice friendly bunch here. All the best Graham
  10. Cool thats good to know, i might replace mine too, looking a bit aged lol
  11. I think it needs to come off as the stalk assembly slides over the spindle. Im only going on a spare one i have in my garage, looks like its the only way.
  12. Welcome back, 8 posts in 5 years, not had alot to say then :lol:
  13. Happy Birthday Ron, have you just updated your details? I see your date of birth is now in your user cp and had it been there before would have showed automatically in the todays birthday section at the bottom of the bulletin board.
  14. :happybday: Have a great day :happybday:
  15. :happybday: all the best Dan, hope you have a nice day :happybday:
  16. The power steering is affected by the speedo not working, usually the circuit board on the back of the speedo will have dry joints, which will need resoldering, but still no garuantee that it will work after that, just the usual fix needed 8 times out of 10. You also have a power steering sensor on the rack which may need a clean and as Paul mentioned, if its been stood for that long, check and clean all the sensors, temp sensor a likely culprit in rough running.
  17. :happybday: all the best Pete, our technical forum guru:happybday:
  18. It could be valve lifters or vvt springs. If its valve lifters you can get some wynns valve lifter treatment, that sometimes does the trick, but not a garuanteed fix. The vvt springs are really cheap but need the cam covers off to get to them, but nothing major.
  19. Cheers for the info Nick, i admire your dedication, especially as its not the first time youve had to do it lol.
  20. So did you manage to get the engine and box in, just on axle stands? It looks a lot longer than the VG engine, looks like youve done something to the front slam, pray tell
  21. Life is too precious to give it up over a woman or anything for that matter, unfortunately people react in different ways to emotions, but i have learnt over the years not to give my heart fully to any woman. Yes love her, care for her, but you have to hold something back for yourself, dont rely on them or appear to be desperate, women like a strong minded but sensitive man. After 12 year relationship ended in 2007, although we sort of grew apart in the end anyway, i sort of sensed it was over, so prepared myself mentally for it. It still didnt stop me thinking about her for a while and thought one day we might get back together, but that soon passes, when you get back out in the field and enjoy yourself again. No matter how difficult you think it may be at the minute, i would have the meeting with your ex and show her how strong and independent of her you have become and dont for one second beg for another chance. If it is likely to happen it will, but dont force it. If afterwards you know in your heart its not going to happen, then move on keep occupied with another interest and start to live again. Try and put yourself in her shoes for a minute and look at yourself, your situation, emotionally, financially etc... Im in a relationship now where she worships the ground i walk on lol, i can honestly say i dont feel the same way, but i love her in my own way, but treat her like a queen, so i get the best of both worlds really... There are so many beautiful women in the world and you will find your soulmate one day and you probably wont have to try that hard either, things just happen when you least expect it, but nothing will happen, by staying in and pondering on what could or might have been. Oh and spend your hard earned cash on your zed, you know it makes sense:thumbup1: Good luck and we are all here to help Graham
  22. Yep thats the plan, im doing the lot lol
  23. Here is the link, i might have to get another roll as i wont have enough from the rear seat forward, but ive probably gone over the top lol http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/53-ft2-Car-Audio-Sound-Deadening-Proofing-Sheet-NEW-/360357872825?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_Car_Speakers_PP&hash=item53e700c4b9
  24.:lol:  Its not too heavy on a roll so wont make a great deal of difference in wieght to the car, im going for luxury over weight saving lol
  25. Not overly noisy, dont get me wrong i like to hear the zorsts, but i use it everyday, so at night or on a motorway, it will be nice to have the inside of the car nice and quiet and hopefully make it feel, more solid when you close the doors etc.
