  1. Thanks for the support guys, and to my wife who without I think I would of given up by now. The problem is part of my small bowel isn't working due to the surgery trauma causing bile and fluid to build up in the stomach. Until this section starts working again all they can do is iv fluids and keep syringing out the fluid to rest the bowel. It's a waiting game over the next 3-4 days with the most uncomfortable tube up my nose and down my throat. According to the assistant in surgery who came round today they spent 4 1/2hrs alone cutting adhesions off my bowel to free it all up let alone fixing the perforation and making a loop ileostomy. Medicine today eh !
  2. Nasal gastric tube in after 3 attempts. :crying::crying:
  3. Well 10hrs later and no food or drink how the f@@k can I throw up 1.3ltrs again ! Really struggling now, must of dropped a stone at least :crying:
  4. A great nights sleep but woke up with a familiar 'heavy' feeling in my stomach. Skipped breakfast and tried to sleep it off but this afternoon up it came :-( That aside the nurse said she was impressed as 1.2 ltrs of sick is one of the most she's seen! Nil by mouth yet again
  5. Thought I'd check in with an update. Well Saturday went downhill and in the evening the swelling increased and the pain was unbearable, couldn't even let the nurse touch it without screaming the place down. A shot of tramadol and some morphine later knocked me out until the on call doctor woke me for a prod, he decided x-ray time and I was there at midnight. Shows I have distended intestine but they don't know why so back to nil by mouth after only 1 day of eating in the last week. Sundays a bit of a blur from pain relief but the consultant comes in and arranges a ct scan that afternoon, again intestine has a few loops distended probably due to the fact it's shut down from the trauma and all the adhesions they removed in theatre. Started fluids that night but problem is what's going it is struggling to get out, need to get mobile but its tough with the pain. Managed some liquid food for lunch and then 2 spoon fulls of diner before everything is back up but tbh I felt better for it. So the last two days I've got more mobile and eaten a bit and things are starting to move slowly so just need to build on that, been in a week already and maybe another week to go. My wife and I are also coping with my new set up of anatomy well and she has been amazing and really supportive.
  6. Thanks, sometimes I worry people will think I'm just winging but it does help to talk and let of steam ! Missing the PCA now as new pain relief isn't as good, eagerly awaited food today and it turned out all I could have that was suitable was a ham sandwich and a yogurt, and the bread was stale #disappointed! Had a bit of a scare this afternoon as abdomen swelled up and was painful, turns out its the introduction of food into into the small bowel and the fact they need to start working to move things through, judging on how much pain the pressure is causing it would be wise to stand back when the do work!
  7. Catheter and abdominal drain out and off pca/morphine to. Busy morning so tired now but still physio and stoma nurses to go yet!
  8. Hi folks, thank goodness for 3G, as I write this from a hospital bed. I'm very sore, tired and have far too many tubes stuck in me. Basically the op Monday was to insert some seton stitches that would help prevent the abscesses I keep getting by keeping the fistula's open to drain away rather than block up. I woke up Tuesday morning at 4am with my left lower stomach swollen and very sore, I ate very little that day and went to see my GP that afternoon as I was concerned. She examined me said I had to be seen by a surgeon that day and yet she spent 45 minutes on the phone to 4 departments before the would let me book in! Got to the hospital at 6.15 and was assessed at about 6.50 and the nurse said I would probably need to come in so back to the waiting area. After several moans at the staff they had me assessed by the on call surgeon at 1am! She sent me for a ct scan that reveal my internal pouch had been pefforated in the procedure on Monday and the was air in my abdomen and probably waste material, basically I needed an emergency op and would be next into theatre and sure enough I was in at 4am. They have formed a loop ileostomy and repared the tear, the only thing they didn't do was remove the pouch, this is the op I've been needing and waiting for so at least it's half done. They wouldn't do the other bit as this was an emergency, they put me onto the ward at 12 o'clock after taking a few hours to stabilise the pain so a mix of morphine, tramadol and liquid paracetamol, antibiotics, a drip and three various cavity drains. Should be in for about a week to recover and then in the future come back to remove the other bit and make it all permanent.
  9. Hi all, Anthony's wife Kerry here. I just wanted to let you know that anthony had a 5 hour emergency op at 4am this morning. His pouch had perforated possibly a result of Mondays surgery so last night they operated to make him better. He's had the first half of his "final" surgery and is recovering well. He'll be in for a week and then it's a recovery period , I don't know how long that will be. So sadly you won't see him for a little while but I will keep you updated, he's currently in a lot of pain by they are trying to make him comfortable. Kerry x
  10. And now the dash back to the hospital to see emergency surgical team, swollen abdomen and lots of pain.
  11. Thanks for the messages of support. Still alive and on the way home but god I feel awful, haven't been this rough after an anaesthetic before, hopefully things will stop bleeding soon as well :-( Be back soon but I need to lie down and sleep this off...
  12. Operation day tomorrow! Nil by mouth has commenced, out of the house by 6.30am for 7.30 admission.
  13. There's a rumour circulating he might actually commit to a date soon..... Well I doubt the date will be soon but the commitment might lol
  14. I've got a date for an op, well not quite the main one but they are at least going to get me a temporary fix. Bit like cable ties on a dift car lol Basically there is a cavity inside that has infection in, it blocks and causes other problems that keep making me ill so they are going to run a loop of stitching through it all so it stays open. Not looking forward to it as it could be uncomfortable to live with but at least it's a start! So a week tomorrow I'm in for a general anathestic and some needlework
  15. Struggling with all mate to be honest, hence the "forum theropy" !
  16. Well that was helpful "we're really busy and things get moved back, we can't reply to your emails due to data protection" Yes we know but would a letter go a miss! So we'll send you to a dietician, as for the abscesses we'll get you in to have a day procedure to stitch them to fix them for now, the other problem, you need the big op for that, the main op, um well we'll have to see when we can work out a date but we are really busy. Oh and you might have crohns not colitis as we thought so you need the op to take out the bits we put in. Went to see the nurse after, "has he told younthe stictches will need renewing a few times?" erm no The dietician needs to be a specialist one for stomach problems, I'd better check the letter they right for you. FFS come home this afternoon and the pain has started again, not happy bunny now
  17. It seems when you mention director of surgery you get an appointment in 3 weeks! Seeing him 1st thing in the morning, just as wekk I've hardly eaten for 5 days as things have suddenly got bad, last time this thing happened I needed emergency surgery last year. Just holding out on painkillers until tomorrow.
  18. Need I say more http://uk.news.yahoo.com/ruling-due-whole-life-sentences-020646915.html#WWnJg3A What about the rights of the person whose life they took....
  19. About time you spilled !
  20. Sad to hear but sure new things on the horizon will keep you busy!
  21. Godivemalta, off to pilot31 gun boat Thursday and comino to cover wreck and boat dive, then have night, deep and navigation to do Friday and I should have my advanced diver certification.
  22. 10 days in Malta so see you soon.. Well been here 2 days, went to the south of the island today for diving. Way to windy as swell was bad, then watched army helicopter come in and rescue 5 divers trapped in a cove! Watched from literally 10 metres away, typically no phone with me for video. Still managed. 2 dives further north with 4 more booked.
  23. Hopefully taking my boy to his next month in mine, just out of paint to !
  24. Had crossed our minds tbh but the 12-15k loan would be crippling.
