  1. Thought I'd update you all...... We didn't buy that business, another came up for sale in the place I was born and grew up in so loads of family ties and friends there! The business was 40% cheaper! rent was 60% cheaper with only a 5 year lease instead of 17! Turn over is about the same so a much better bet. The wife was approved for the finance today so we are looking to take over 1st Feb, the wife is going sole trader for a year just to keep things simpler while we get used to running a business. Also should just be able to scrape under the VAT threshold. So if your guys need to send the wife flowers we will have Interflora so anywhere in the UK or getting married lol!
  2. Anybody any good with these? Changed internet provider and has caused havoc with it, laptop is confused between the 2, managed to change the name to the new network but still no joy. Think it's the IP address that's the problem, any ideas as it's been driving me mad for weeks and the wife wants to shoot me if it's not fixed !
  3. Check up with the surgeon Thursday, all ok. back to my original fighting weight, wound from the surgery the other week almost healed. Had a chat about phase two.... So probably next February is round 2, it's about 4-5 hrs of surgery to take out the defunctioned pouch as it couldn't be done in July due to the emergency status. Good news they will also re-site the stoma as it's not in a good place, the op should stop any abscesses coming back once everything is gone. It will be nice to get some closure and actually get on with things, 6 weeks no driving and up to 2 months recovery but should be ready for Japfest !!
  4. Not sure on ally pipe but have you priced with us as you get 25% forum discount?
  5. Did karting last year and it was great. Bowling, food and beers this year but I'm not going, firstly haven't been asked and secondly I can't drive there due to the op last week
  6. Well i survived, a bit sore at the moment and man I bled a lot judging by the dressing they changed earlier! Hopefully home tomorrow or Thursday ...
  7. Back in again :-( Small op today, came in last night with a the start of something that gets very painful if left, at least got it early this time. Last time I had one I could barely walk, thing is I shouldn't get these at all now after the surgery in July!
  8. Seems we are going separate ways at the moment! It was his birthday the other week and I had asked him to write some thank you notes to people who sent him gifts, its something we always get him to do although he hates doing it. Well after asking and insisting he does them several times he says no he's not doing them and that's final, that we never listen to him and to leave him alone as I'm bugging him, if he'd been here he wouldn't of been able to sit down for a week the way he answered me back. His mums take is he was being cheeky but if he doesn't want to do them then that's fine she won't make him, the fact I asked him to do them and its polite makes no odds. I wonder who's the parent and who's the child, also she's told him that the money I give her has gone down at the moment due to work situation and isn't he important enough to make sure she gets all her money ! Fuming is an understatement, real feel like walking away and telling him to come back when he's less selfish and grows up a bit and he apologises!!
  9. There tomorrow, where's the best place to park ?
  10. Anyone one here live near Olympia show venue in London?
  11. Well and truly fed up in all ways now. My son still won't come up and I've kept in touch but no matter how much I ask him to keep in contact he doesn't, no messages or texts, really feel like he doesn't care at all and at the moment really doesn't feel like I have a son. Horrible way to feel and I don't think I have the fight for this, if he was more bothered I might think it was but he's clearly not fussed and his mum must love it and keeps posting on FB how proud of him she is and is buying him computers etc. Still haven't been able to get the car back from work yet as the boss is off with personal issues so I'm stuck home Mon-fri 8-6.00 on my own with only the dogs here, don't think that helps either as it's lonely. I've tried to do some work but just can't get into anything at all, try hard but just don't have the drive for it. Also tried some work on the S14 and in the house but it's too much for me, hour max and I'm done, so frustrating. Would just like to make progress on something but not going anywhere with anything, always been so active and hands on and now feel useless. I know it's a depressing post but don't know what to do to get myself going
  12. Done it for quite a few years now and tbh I'm trying to get work back home again now. It's ok for a while but I find I miss having a 'home' life as I feel I miss a lot, also keeping up to date with various things is difficult as you have limited time at home to do them which again eats into family time.
  13. Is that alloy tube or silicone?
  14. . That's the one, car was about £1500-2000 cheaper
  15. Funny the cheap Q7 we looked at it was his wife that made them move to Norway lol
  16. No one does an off the shelf kit as hard pipe kits vary in where they reduce or if they use silicone to do the reducing. You need to just buy the bits separately as you know the sizes from Z1's site. Just need a silicone supplier......
  17. Still never know why you would pay for a car without seeing it, deposit maybe but £24k. No way, only when I'm stood right next to it!!
  18. Plug was lightish brown which was the same as the others. Plug was dry but had been stood 30-40 minutes after a long run.
  19. For the hassle and cost sell up and buy a TT
  20. Ugly, thought my single turbo install was much nicer :-)
  21. So spoke to the woman owner today and we are going to see her and her husband who does the books on Saturday. Strangely the website we saw it on isn't the one they listed it on, the price is incorrect £30k not £25k but the turnover is much higher than the £70k listed so guess that balances out. So I'm guessing a Ltd company is better with Kerry and myself as directors? So next step once we've had a look and are happy is a business plan and the hard work of raising finance !!!
  22. We would look to borrow from parents and maybe against the house, the business is only up for £24,950 which is a lot of money but not a lot for a business if that makes sense? We may and go and have a look at it this week.
  23. About £70k but they seem very tradional even closing for lunch! I think with some effort using internet/shows/social media we could bump that up. The wife is trained in the skill but also does other types of it as well to increase the product base we could offer
  24. Thanks guys, the business is small and very cheap, basically we end up with a long established shop property and reasonable location and the equipment/setup. The owner is retiring and I think with an injection of effort there is a lot more it can do to bump up the turnover. Currently runs at a 38% gross profit so don't know the nett profit yet, the business is something the wife loves doing and is very good at, she just needs that push to go for it and I think an established business is easier than going from scratch. TBH we probably don't need the hassle at the moment but these things seldom come along at the right time but long term it could be good.
  25. I know quite a few people on here run their own business, thinking of taking the plunge and buying an existing business. What advice do people have regarding doing the books? Is it easier to outsource or is it straight forward to learn and pretty good with numbers. Any other tips?
