  1. I have got horrendous steering wheel shake when braking hard. Is this worn bush related? If so which ones? And where is the best place to get? Thanks, Dan

  3. Ok so today I got the car up to temp and switched ignition on, unplugged GPS and measured voltage from the middle pin-I got a consistent 2.4 volts!? What am I doing wrong?
  4. Hope so, I replaced the PCVs last year hoping this would of sorted the problem, it didnt :(. Whilst everything was apart I gave the nearside one a shake and sure enough it rattled so I put it all back together.

  6. I have finally got round to replacing my throttle position sensor, the car now runs really smooth, except for every once in a while. All of a sudden the throttle will go from being extremely sensitive to an almost switch, power is either on or off. After a little while it soon sorts itself back out (or if I set cruise control). Have I replaced it with yet another faulty tps, I should try and clean connectors, what is the best way to do this? Thanks, Dan
  7. Ok, so after a total of 8 or so hours we have managed to change the nearside turbo on my Z. For the passed 2 years or so it had been smoking on tickover (worse when warm). Touch wood, so far, it seems to be a lot better. I have left it running for well over ten minutes whilst the engine is hot several times and nothing yet. However, last night when the car was cold about 2 miles from home I pulled up to a set of lights and there it was, some smoke from the exhaust. When it was safe to pull over i did and let it tickover once again to confirm if it was the same side, but nothing. It wouldnt smoke for the rest of the night... It definatly seems better but am concerned a little about the smoke I have seen. Is it possible it is burning off crap that has settled in the exhaust from the old turbo, or is this wishful thinking? Also, when I started it in the garage this evening, both exhausts spat oil (I think, could be fuel though) out. The nearside worse than the offside though. Are these signs of a worn turbo? Either way its on now for at least this summer but just like to know your thoughts. Thanks, Dan
  8. This Sunday I am going to change my manual transmission fluid and diff oil. Which oils do you recommend? Also, certain manufacturers have specific things to do after changing diff oil ( TSB for e46 M3 is to drive the car in circles 15-20 times) Is there anything similar for Nissan 300ZX?

  11. I think both of these have been done, do many people run with egr delete and turbo water cooling blanked? Also, when I put my replacement turbo back I assume the gaskets will need replacing should these be gotten from main dealer? Thanks
  12. Just behind the throttle body underneath the plenum is a 2pin flange that has been chopped and welded both sides
  13. Could it of had an n/a engine in it at some point? Hence the feeds being welded on the manifold?

We have just removed passenger side turbo on my z, it has oil feeds but no water feeds they have been blanked, drivers side also has the pipes blanked off from the water feed side, is the other end of these water feeds on the inlet manifold? Seems to be some metal pipes welded here?? What's the reasoning for removing these water feeds?
  15. Ok, thanks, so would this cause premature failing of the auto turbo, the original turbo, or the bank on which the auto turbo is?

  17. Are you happy with how yours sits? Are the wheels under the arches or flush with them? Any issues with rubbing? How low is yours compared to stock?
  18. Not just yet but am starting to look at wheels again. Tempted by Rota GTR-D's. A few questions; what width can you get away with at the front and back without the risk of the tyres/wheels catching. What offset? I am wanting a big dish at the back, I assume the lower the offset the bigger the dish? Thanks, Dan
  19. Hi Guys, For the last several thousand miles my car smokes blue out of the nearside exhaust. Only when sat idling after 3-5 mins. I have replaced the PCV and still have the smoke. My next step is to change the turbo on that side. What turbo is the replacement? Will I be able to use both the original flanges? What am I searching for? Garrett TB? T25? T2? Thanks, Dan
  20. Thanks for your help guys, I have spoke to the chap you recommended, he can supply the two rear sill sections, but not the front sections, are the fronts normally patched as there is no shape as such to them, or am I best getting new whilst the car is being chopped?
  21. Brake, I have really bad brakes, fade like hell, and the pedal is extremely squidgy, pedal goes all the way to the floor very easily. I am hoping discs, pads, braded lines and a new master cylinder will help.
  22. Another one of the jobs on my list this winter is the master cylinder, do you suggest buying new or getting new inners? Is this a straight forward job I can do myself? Many thanks Dan
  23. Thanks guys, I do not have an air gun so prob will not attempt this myself, is there any other bushes that can cause these symptoms? Or any others you recommend replacing for polys also? Thanks, Dan
  24. Under very hard braking my z violently shakes. I have read worn tension rod bushes can cause this!? Can someone post a diagram to show location? Also, I read to spot a bad bush there is normally liquid coming from them, is this true? Thanks, Dan
