Anyway, just to try and add something helpful, mine was like this a couple of weeks ago. I cleaned the TBs, reset the ECU and had an oil and filter change done. Still seemed a bit odd. Jeff had a look at the timing, loa and behold, timing was out a little. Timing got changed and now everything is as sweet as a nut. :)

Funny, mine changes into 4th with the power switch on. If you have your right foot pinned to the floor, then you just dont change till about 130mph. Not that Ive ever travelled that fast on a public road. No, this was on a race track. Errrm.. ;)

Out of interest, do you know roughly how much a rebuild would be?

Oh boy.. If you do a search, you can see some of the monumental arguements caused by that question. ;) I have an auto box and Im happy with it. However, if it died, I would replace it with a manual. Maybe its the way I drive, but Im still getting used to an auto box 10 months after buying the car.

Hmmm, clean & polish it. Clean TBs, reset ECU. Just had an oil & filter change. Errrm.. If I have time I may fit the BOVs (If the vacuum pipe and T-pieces arrive tomorrow) Nice 6am start on Sunday. ;)

God knows what it was. Put a smile on my face though! :D As for the BOVs, Nope not fitted yet. Still trying to find the time. Those vents on your car look much better than the photos suggest. Just wait till you get back from your hols and their all nicely painted. :)

OK, so I wouldnt normally dream of putting this up here. However, the fact is that a white Shit heap of a metro with nasty bodykit tried it on this morning. Obviously he didnt get very far. But to actually see him look dissappointed that he didnt beat me from the lights beggers belief! He must have thought his baseball cap gave him better acceleration. ;) Some people....

Quite right. Just reread the original reply and hmmm. I dont agree with it either. But there you go. Each to their opinions I suppose. I wouldnt mind a garage with a Z, Supra, RX7 and a 3000 :dance: None of them are sh1te.

Nope, no offense taken, Ive got thicker skin than that. (esp on my knuckles ;) ) Completely off topic now, but people express themselves in different ways. What woud be offensive to one person, another person wouldnt think twice about. But be honest. Did you expect to have no reaction to that post? :slap: Saying that, I like MKIV Supras. Just not as much as my Z. ;)

There's a reason why I chose a Z over a Supra thats not been mentioned yet: When was the Z first made available to buy? 1989? Which Supra was available then? The MKIII. Compare the two, how far ahead in terms of looks and design were Nissan? IMHO the MKIII supra looks bloated and dated compared to the Z. But if the looks are ahead, what about the engine? 3lt V6, Twin Turbos, 24 Valves, Variable valve timing. All of this from an '89 car. Oh, and yes this IS a Z forum. People come here to talk about Z's. We are going to be biased. We may say things about other cars that some people may not like, as I am sure is what happens on other forums, dedicated to other cars. If you dont like what you read here about supras (and there have been far worse things said about them in the past) go to a Supra forum and say things about Z's. We wont mind. There is always going to be rivalry between various car owner clubs. You wouldnt walk into a pub, where Z owners have gathered and say that we shouldnt talk about other cars like that, would you? Well I wouldnt at the fear of having a good hiding! ;) Anyway, my rant over. :D

Japanese Imports have 225 section rears. UKs have 245. Although I have jap wheels and 245 rubber, with no problems at all. :) edit: Also, if the cars been sitting for a while with those tyres on, you may want to change them anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. Try some Toyo Proxies. HTH.

Dont worry too much!!!! Did exactly the same thing back in March, except for me it was the left side. Had to replace the wheel/tyre and the all of the suspension as well. Take a look, go to the gallery and click on the black museum link. :) Zedworld I had all of the symptoms that you have, but now all is sweeeeet.

Just to add to the good advice already given, try and buy one from this forum. Owners on this forum tend to go to the same places for work/servicing, so the people who work on them have a good history on those vehicles. So they can be a good source of info on previous servicing. Also, only buy one with a good amount of history, otherwise you're asking for trouble. I bought mine in February and I have never loved a car as much as this one. A word of warning though, once youve bought one, the urge to start modifying will set in. Dont try and fight it. Resistence is futile ;)
