  1. Have you tried Jeff @ Zedworld?
  2. The chip allows higher fueling/boost levels, so you get a big improvement on a turbo'd car. A reprogrammable chip in an NA engine should allow to take full advantage of having a less restrictive exhaust and a cold air intake. However, gains are going to be on the conservative side. What it should give, however, is a smoother torque curve and a boost to the midrange. Just dont expect anything above, say a 5-10% improvement for the three mods. Oh, and some dyno work to make sure the chip is setup correctly for the car.
  3. Tesco insurance runs of Direct Line's System. But they do work out cheaper, well they did for me. Though nowhere near as cheap as Footman & James.
  4. Count me in for a set of dials! You think that the company creating these will want to take their branding off? Personaly, I dont mind, they look far better than the dials i've currently got. :)
  5. NigelBoyd: The chip is being supplied by Jeff, so I dont imagine it will be a superchip. Hmm.. Think an Apex induction kit is called for as well. :)
  6. Hmm brakes. Yes, usefull. :) Which discs would you all recommend? Any particular manufacturer? As for suspension, the springs have been replaced with much harder items, and the dampers are being replaced at the same time as the engine chip when the car goes to Jeff (Next week).
  7. Just read what I typed. Of course, you cant be skint to run a z either!! ;) Im now able to pamper my Z and only drive it in leisure time! :) Rather than the 80 mile round trip I was doing every day for 2 months.
  8. Well, pockets arent that deep. Plus I dont want to put too much stress on the engine. So no taking the boost up to 21PSI :) In fact, what would you say would be a sensible BHP figure for the Z engine, that doesnt comprimise reliability too much?
  9. I will shortly have the following spec Z 1991 Jap Auto TT Mongoose SS Exhaust K&N Filters (Standard Airbox) Stiffer springs (Lord knows what they are) ECU rechip What would be the next mods to do? Dump valves? Cold Air Induction kit? Any suggestions?
  10. I'm onto my second set of 245 tyres, and ive had no problems so far. :)
  11. Is it wider tyres you're after? I know that the standard fitment is 225 all round on the Jap Zed. However, I've got 245 tyres on the rears on Jap rims. No problems at all. :-)
  12. Excellent! Im only thinking of chipping it in the next few months, but nothing beyond that. I know it sounds strange considering the car, but have you noticed a change in fuel consumption at all since you fitted the Air intake?
  13. Could anyone tell me when you should be looking at upgrading the air intake system. I currently use K&N filter replacements in the standard air box. How much difference would it make to move to a single or double cone system? Apart from the sound of course! ;-) Brian. '91 TT Auto Import Mongoose Exhaust K&N Filters Poorly rear end :(
  14. Ooohh. :( Im not sure if its better or worse knowing that I only had myself to blame. Still, JeffTT steps foward to save the day yet again :)
  15. Yep hit it quite hard. :( I'm still debating if I should go through insurance. I havent got any protected no claims. So my insurance would double next year if I did go down that route. As I already pay £1200+... As for second hand parts, would any UK spec parts fit? Cheers Brian
  16. Has anyone else had the misfortune of sliding their Zed into a large kerb and damaging the rear wheel, suspension and steering arm? If so, please could you let me know how much the bill came to? I've been quoted between £900 and £1200 so far. And Im not happy. Thanks Brian.
  17. Could try Footman and James. Bit expensive, but it worked out the cheapest for me. 1991 Nissan 300zx TT Auto S/S Exhaust & K&N Filters F/Comp £1229 Im 26 and do a lot of mileage in it ;-) Brian
  18. With you there! New brake pads all round from Jeff, and the car is a different beast :) ECU will have to wait till Easter though :( Know what you mean about a gaggle of Zeds! ;)
  19. It's alleged that the owners of Rams are involved in *cough* dodgy dealings elsewhere in the midlands as well. ;-) A place to avoid, me thinks. Graham S, that's a nice colour for a Z! Where abouts are you based? Local to Derby?
  20. I agree totally with Jeff about creating a register of good Z's. Birmingham and Nottingham are not he only places with dodgy imports being sold as A1. RAM CITY MOTORS of Derby are selling a handfull of Z's which seem to range from bad to awful. Can't we get a list of places together warning prospective buyers to either avoid, or at the very least be aware that there have been problem cars purchased from them? I almost bought a Z from Ram City Motors. I'm glad I found this forum and bought mine from someone on here. The difference between mine and the ones for sale is astonomical. Even though they are selling for the same amount of money. No wonder you have the likes of Top Gear scaring people away from Jap Imports! :-)
  21. Thanks to Nij, I have bought my first Z. Am I pleased with it? I havent stopped smiling yet! If the smile grew any larger, the top of my head would fall off!!! As you may have gathered I am a happy man. Time to get some sleep after the 326 mile journey to buy it. But they were good miles. Coming back anyway ;) Brian.

Sorry, just seen the mods. :( I need a standard car. Insurance. :(
  23. Thats the one thing that would make me buy from Ram City Motors. All their cars are RAC checked as part of the price and they make sure all points for additional work marked by the RAC are completed before the car is sold. But with the word of warning I have already heard abou them, Im not so sure. I think the only way I would buy from them, is if they carry out the work, then get the car checked again by somebody else. I have doubts about them, but I would have doubts buying from anybody over a car like this. ;) :D Brian
  24. FYI, it is on the Ram City Website, its the white one with 18" 3 spoke alloys. Auto TT. And after taking another look, I made a mistake in my original post, its acutally done 53,000Km, and the sales man told me it worked out at less than 30,000 miles. Too caught up with the engine noise! ;-) Brian
  25. God no!! Ive seen that one up close and if any car has been thrashed, that one has! The body kit has a fair few cracks over it, and the wheels....well, put it this way, they look bad on the photo, let alone up close! After reading through this forum, I think i would rather travel a fair bit than use a local garage i cannot entirely trust. Im glad I joined this forum! Money for Z will be available this weekend, so i'm getting desperate to find one!! :-) Brian.
