lol......i had found a bit of an oil leak......which i hope is now cured. But there's still a bit of a knockin noise coming from the bottom of the engine. Jimmer reckons that it could be a blown piston ring / land failure. LOOKS LIKE IT COULD NEED A REBUILD!!!!!! But hey......means i can get the internals how i want them so, when i can afford it, go for 500rwbhp!!!

well, i did consider buying an engine from nend....but then i had a think to myself. Since im not wanting to (more like cant afford to) go straight to 500bhp, i was wanting to get all the internal work donenow......so it'll just be a matter of altering the external stuff when the funds allow it.

i did think of that....but i aint got 6K lying around!!!! he has a shortblock with with tomei internals for 4K.....but i dunno what the difference between the shortblock and longblock's are????

thanks for the warning mark. I've always wanted a powerful car......and i love everything about the zed.......so it kinda makes sense. And now that it looks like i might need a rebuild anyway, why not go for uprated parts to help me on the way???

Well, the car is only going to be used for going to meets and having a nice leisurely drive at the weekend. I have a xsara that i drive everyday, so the zed is totally a second car. If it came to £5K a year for the insurance.......im sure i could afford it.....wouldnt be happy about it....but i'd pay it! As for the list you've said will get to 400bhp, i already have most of that on the car! i would only need:- Big brake kit 440 or 555 injectors lightened pulley set Uprated 15 row x 235mm oil cooler uprated Rad The 500bhp aint gonna happen overnight though. I'm wanting to get the required internals fitted first and then fit any external parts at a later date......adding bits as the insurance come down each year!

so you reckon that i'd get away with running standard con rods???? Would buying the engine rebuild kit from smithy's place would be most of the parts that would need to be changed?

was thinking forged pistons and uprated conrods.....erm, pretty sure id wanna change the turbo's. Kirbz mentioned something about getting "5-bolt turbo's" when i was looking for what upgrades id need to reach 500bhp. Just as a thought, can the injectors be changed at a later date???? say, after the engine has been rebuilt and refitted???

yup........the clutch couldn't have been fitted that long ago, the oddometer is only sittng at 64880 (and most of that is in km).... But yeah, i can understands where the expense soon mounts up!

or you could go to a garage and get some duck oil / lubricant and let them soak in it for about 24 hours! I did that with my suspension top nuts and they came off a treat!

nah....im only 22.....dinnae have a missus yet!!!!! Woop Woop!!!!! im not sure if i can ask this, but how much am i looking at for a standard rebuild??? would i be right in thinking £5K should cover it????

Jimmer, your a complete legend mate!!!! What would be needed if its the crank case pressurising??? Rebuild??? At the end of the day, i wont really be that gutted if that is what's needed. I've totally fallen in love with this car and will do whatever it needs! Was looking at upping the bhp anyway......and to get to what i was looking at, it involves a rebuild anyway!

guys, i have a problem!!!!!!! I was driving along tonight when my oil pressure suddenly dropped to literally f**k all!!!! So i stopped and popped the bonnet. AND FOUND OIL ALL OVER MY BATTERY AND PASSENGER SIDE OF MY ENGINE!!! I nearly cried!!! Im seriously hoping that its just a popped hose rather than a head gasket gone, although once i restarted it, the pressure sat at 1.5 kg/cm cubed for the next 12 miles. And to make matters worse...................... When i got back home, a couple of my mates came round and had a look underneath with me........and one of them reckon that the big end bearing could be knackered! I'm gonna take it to a local garage tomorrow and see if they can find the source of the oil leak and gimme some thought of the slight knocking noise! If they cannae do anything with it.........looks like rebuild time has come early!!!

I went into my boot the other day and noticed that there's a dip stick sort of mechanism on the left hand side, just next to corner. When i removed it, it read 1/4, 1/2 and full!!! There wasnt one on my uk spec....... Anyone got any ideas as to what it is and what it does???

is it dot 4 that these cars use???? I was having a rake through the stores at my work the other day and found gallons of the stuff. Anyone any ideas how much it'll take to fill the system???

nah, i didnt mean it like that........i thought alot of folk wouldnt go bcos of all the chavs in corsa's!!! There were a few very tidy skylines there and i need to say it.......one nice supra!!! Loads of evo's........but since my zed was the only one, i was happy with the attention that it got!

Kirbz, Thats exactly what i was looking for! Theres some of stuff that im happy doing myself.....changing the suspension and the brakes.......but i'd want alot of the more complicated stuff fitted by folk who know exactly what they're doing! But i doubt i'd do it all at the same time, just wanted some advice as to what would need to be done to reach 500bhp. Was looking at doing it bit by bit, as and when funds allow!!!! IM THERE!!!!!!! Just picked up my new zed (petey099's red swb) and cannae wait to get to a zed meet!!!! Had it at falkirk cruise last night and got loads of attention!!!! WOOP WOOP!!!! Might i add......I WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE!!!!!
