Import process from the states.
Most companies will use the services of likes UPS who usually attach an invoice to the package. This way customs will work out the import duty. If the seller will be prepared to package the goods as a gift or put a really low value on the goods and send the invoice separate, then you can get away without paying duty. However if customs open the package and see two new shiney turbos with a value of $10 they will look into it. That happened to me and was a right f**k up. The goods ended up being posted back to the supplier. They then sent them back to me through the US postal service with no probs at all. Lots of money to be saved in the US though, not sure why but most things are a fraction of the cost. Same for me in Canada, I'm loving it. Think its $50 for a package up to 8kg, that will be tracked and have recorded delivery through UPS. Postal service is cheaper I believe. VAT I guess is 17.5% Andy.

Sloppy gear lever.....
Bushes on the gearstick are well worth doing, not expensive and easy to fit. Once you change them the box will feel tight as a nuns crutch.;) Worth checking to see if thr rubber inner gator under the leather gator isnt split aswell. Once they split you get gearbox sounds transmitted into the cabin. Andy

Bought one!
Sounds like a goodun. Nice spec aswell, I do like the leather and alacantra(not suede);) interior. Its what I put in mine. As suggested a 60k service is necessary if your not sure of history As you got such a bargain go and spend some dosh tunning goodies!! The Z is fast as stock but throw a couple grand at it and you got one seriously quick car! Andy

Interesting idea, I'll sketch few more but spend a bit more time on them and see what people think. I'll draw yours, MAC1's and chunk's (do you want it all the same colour :p ) as examples as they have asked. PM preffered pics please ;) Andy

thought I would draw my Z
I've not picked up a pencil since I was in school 15 years ago, but suddenly got the urge to do some drawings the other day. I was feeling creative and felt like putting a few of my bodywork modification ideas down on paper. Just scribbled this one of how my car looks at the moment, shame the front wheel looks like it hit a kerb!! :(

Anyone for a beer??!
Erm, Would love to go out for a proper pint but sadley i'm not in the right country at the moment. All you get out here in Canada is a measly 10oz pint compared with the14oz pints back in the UK. :duffer: :duffer: :duffer: Wish I could wake up in the morning and go for Surf in Cornwall aswell. I'm 1500 miles away from the sea at the moment FFS! Andy

Lifestyle Change!
Best of Luck Dave. At least you will have some fantastic memories of events most average joe's just dream about doing. Some people work in the same factory all their life, imagine that!! ;) Andy

Front Mount OR Twin...?
Are there any similar results for medium/large turbo configurations? You need to test right across the spectrum to make a fair evaluation. What works better for one application may not be true for another. ;) I'd like to know the facts myself as I will be making and intercooler selection soon. Cheers Andy
-
Front Mount OR Twin...?
There seems to be lots of opinions on the intercooler subject. From my experience working as Research & Development Engineer I will suggest that you need hard facts before making assumptions. (Assumptions are the mother of all fook ups);) Until someone performs a direct comparison test on the same car whilst measuring all engine parameters in a dynamic condition with 100% repeatability, then people can only speculate on which is better. There are so many variables to be taken into consideration with many other influencing factors. When your talking volumes to which the level a high HP engine are pushing, the differences will most probably be negligible. There may well be a trade off between air temp and water temp but until proven the differences are unknown. I for one think the FMIC looks sweet and when matched to an appropriate set up they seem to work very well as do SMIC's. Andy

Just bought these for my zed...reckon they'll fit?
I've got a set of Kenwood HQ 7x10"s in the loft somewhere, hardly used. Awsome speakers, magnets look like they belong on a sub. Never been able to fit them in any of my cars since my Cavalier 8 years ago. They cost me a fortume back then, sure i'll find somewhere to put them one day. Lots of people put 6x9's in the doors but I opted for a nice Alpine component set up all round with an quality 8" sub. Sounds nice and tight! Andy

Fuel Protests
What do the Govenment do with all the taxes? There are 60 million people living in the UK all getting shafted big time. The UK is the 3rd richest nation on earth yet one of the most expensive to live in??? I'm living in Canada now. There are only 30 million living out here and paying far less in taxes than the UK. Public services are better, the heath system is better, the country is alot cleaner and general standard of living is much higher. I think Canada is the 10th richest nation. If other countries can manage why cant the Uk? What ever happened to GREAT BRITAIN???? I want to move back to the UK in few years because I actually love the place but I dont think i'm going to bother if it carries on the way it is. Andy

Where is the roadkill section?
Nice one. I bet the Nobel owner was fooking gutted! Cracking sensation when you whoop a big player. Hows about fitting a trigger mounted digital video camera facing out the back window so we can see these killings. ;) Obviously only upto 70 MPH though ;) Andy

how many slicktops
was the slicktop designed to be a lightweight version or was the targa just an optional extra? Andy

R reg TT manwell in Autotrader
Cruise was always on option on manwell. Hicas became electric so lost all the hydraulic valves in the engine bay. Andy

R reg TT manwell in Autotrader
Just glancing through the trader and came across this 98 R reg Z. Newest TT I've seen in the country and a manwell! Good find if someones looking to spend that much. Looks very cleen although I thought they dropped the grey paint on the front of the car in 94? Shame its not a 99 spec, I'd be on the first plane back to England to buy it! http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/cars_search.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=NISSAN&model=300+ZX&min_pr=9000&max_pr=10000&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=pl17+8py&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=5&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH Andy

Best colour for your Z
Best colour comes down to the individuals taste i'm affraid. If we all drove the same colour Z's wouldn't it be a boring world! Most of them are red which is bad enough :x: Its all a personal preference which is why us humans have choises! At the end of the day a Z looks good in any colour because it is one of the nicest looking cars around. A supra owner would probably argue the point!! Again all about personal choises. If its what you like, buy it. Its what makes us who we are! Dont buy black cause someone said its best, fooking sheep do that! Enough said, back to the fridge! Andy

HICAS arms and where to buy?
I bought mine from Courtesy (texas), replacing inner and outer an the same time. Easy job with no special tools required.(ball joint breaker/ spanners) Just remember how many turns on the thread there are when removing and then replicate that amount when you fit the new. Wont be exact but will be close. You will have to get a laser alignment done after to get it spot on. Andy
