99/00 Version R
Hi All Don’t suppose any of you guys know where I can get my hands on a 99/00 Type R Z? Searched the net many of times and contacted lots of Importers but No joy! In fact I’ve never even seen one. I’ve got a sweet 91 TT which I’ve had for years now, was the car I always wanted! Just want one a bit newer now. ‘W’ reg would be nice!!! Test Drove a new 350 but wasn’t impressed to be honest, and there ain’t nothing else I really fancy. Do I really have to go to Japan and steel one? Any Idea of what one of these illusive breeds would cost? Thanks, Andy

Colour match - Pearl White
Hi Mate. I also have a pearl white import (great colour when the suns out!). At some stage it was sprayed right around the bottom sill. Guess it was suffering from stone chips. The colour match is to be crap to be honest! Ive asked many sprayers over the last three years if they could blow the sills over, but none want to touch it. They all said It would need a full respray for it to match. As the rest of the paint is excellent Ive not bothered and just put up with it. Maybe try some breakers as you may find an original pearl white bonnet . Cheers Andy

another boost question!!!
Hi stuart. I dont disagree about the jets, they are very crude, however with a fairly low budget due to the house moving a boost controler is out of my price bracket at the moment and desperatly want more boost! As with regards to setting the correct boost level with the jets I intend to fit one of the Data loggers which I use in work (Very accurate bit of kit!) , fitting a High accuracy transducer to the boost line and adjusting the boost level by changing the size of the orifice in the boost jets ( probably make my own) until I have a pressure of 14 psi. Can all be linked in whilst i'm test driving. I will then calibrate the warning signal on the GReddy boost gauge to just above this level. Bit of setting up I know, but it should give me a accurate boost level. Be nice to leave the Data logger in there! not sure work would be so keen! Andy

another boost question!!!
Hi all, In the very near future I will be treating the Zed to a boost upgrade. I Intend to fit a Zedworld chip and jets along with a good quality boost gauge running 14 psi. I know its better to fit a boost controle module but as Im moving house, money is a little tight at the mo! Have already fitted a mongoose, Apex induction and ACT clutch. My question is, will I expect to see a rapid acceleration on the wear of the engine and turbos, splitting hoses ect.... Bear in mind most of the time the car gets driven very gently with the occasional blast now and again. Engine has done around 90k miles and all parts are original as far as I am aware. All in good shape, never smokes or rattles when cold ect. Had the car 3 years now and no major problems. Has anyone else fitted a boost upgrade to similar condition engine and experienced any problems. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks Andy

clutch
hi mate. If you get no joy after trying both bleed points then try a vacume pump. It was the only way I could get the air out of mine. Conect the pump to the bleed point in the drivers side arch. Ensure to keep toping up the reservior as you start to vacume, Dont want to induce more air into the system. Hope that helps. Andy

Heater Core (Matrix)
Hi there mate. Recently changed my heater matrix. I took the dash out just for ease of access. However If I had to do it again I would leave the dash in. There are four bolts holding in the black control box, the bolt at the top is set back a couple of inches and hard to get at. If you have a manual as I do, you will have to remove the clutch pedal and the booster unit. Two nuts inside the engine bay remove the booster. When thats out the way the conrole box should come out with relitive ease. Hope this helps. Andy.

New Carpet?
Just in the process of replacing the heater matrix at the moment on my manual, (what a twat of a job!) Anyway, the carpets pretty damp and stinking of coolant. Could just give it a clean but I thought it could be an opertunity to fit a new one... Has anyone attemted, and succesfully cut a carpet to fit. I guess this would be tricky beacause of the shape, or know of where I could by a Pre- shaped one. Am after a cream colour. Thanks Andy

Odd markings on exhaust
Hi stuart. Hard to see on your picture, but yes I meant on the very end of the pipe where the steel is rolled back. Mine looks a little heavier than yours. It could well be a by-product of the rolling opperation where the metal is splitting from the forming, just failed to notice it at first. Poor quality if it is. Had quite a few exhaust and never seen this. Hopefully its not the pistons melting down and being fired out the back at high volicity lol. Going to dress it out anyway. If it re-appears i'll start worring. Thanks Andy

Odd markings on exhaust
Hi there guys, I purchased a mongoose for the zed and ftted it last week. Since then I have done about 300 miles.(mostly motorway) Just cleaned the car and gave the exhaust a wipe off. No real dirt just a bit of black dust. What was left was some pretty heavy scoring on the inside of the rolled lip, many scratches spireling outwards. Im pretty sure they were not there when I fitted it. The scratches are pressent on all pipes. Never seen this before. Engine is pretty much stock with about 90K, seems in good condition, Never seems to burn oil, the odd rattle when its cold. Sometimes smokes very lightly on the drivers side but that only happens very rarely. Sounds sweet as a nut when warm. Has anyone else noticed these markings, or can think of a reason why. Any help would be much appreciated! Andy

O2 Sensors
Just fitting my O2 sensors at the moment. Local tuning garage supplied lucas parts. £40 each. Not too difficult to do just have to remove a few things first. battery etc. you will need a 22mm deep socket with slot in it to feed the wire through. Taken me about 3 hours. Just need to wire them up. Not sure of that at the moment. Lucas part has 2 white wires and 1 black. Car has black, red and white. Any ideas?

MPG not good!!
I have a standard 1991 manual TT import. Since fitting 18" rims MPG has dropped from around 19mpg to 15mpg under normal driving conditions. Fitted 235/40/18 front, 265/35/18 at the rear. I understand they are bigger than standard and will throw the speedo out slightly. but not to loose 4mpg? did calc, should only be 3%, anyone else had similar probs? Any Ideas? Also want a superchip. Does this affect mpg under normal driving conditions?
