Rolling Road Day at AP motors Plymouth
I'll be there hopefully, Havent been on the rollers for a while, Hoping to achive 400 RWHP this time. AP has just invested in the latest 4x4 dyno, only one in the south west I believe, not that it effects the Z! Should be some big power GTR's there.

Bypassing the power steering pump after removing HICAS???
Anyone got a hydraulic circuit for the Hicas? I would assume the Hicas circuit is always primed at system pressure via a relief valve, when demand is required the hicas will direct flow to the appropriate cylinder via a directional control valve. Basically, if you blank the supply to the hicas the oil will just bleed over the relief valve(wont blow a cap off as long as the cap is rated to system pressure). You can also re-direct the pressure line back to tank, however this is just waisted energy so I would be inclined to remove the Vain from the pump if this is possible. This is only just an assumption, I need a circuit to be sure. Andy

Hello fellow Zedsters, New Member
must admit she has been pretty reliable, only let me down once when I had poor mass air connections. not bad for an old motor!!! I have spent a lot of money on maintainence though, as soon as something shows signs of wear it normal get replaced. Could write you a list as long as my arm on parts I have changed! Done most of the work on her myself, thank god for courtesy in texas!! saved me a fortune!!! I'm moving to Canada this june and the Z will follow not long after. Land of cheap Parts, tuning and fuel!! I've got big plans for the Z later this year! Be nice to get to a meet before I go!

Bye Bye Zeds ?
Ok, after several phone calls and being transferred around several government call centers, customs and Transport Canada this is basically how it is. If you are coming to Canada on a work permit you can import a car for a maximum of 36 months at which point if it has reached 15 years old you can register the vehicle in Canada. However if you have applied for perminent residency this does not apply, or as soon as you do apply for residency the vehicle will have to be retured to the uk. Not sure how you are coming into Canada but that is basically how it is. I am coming on a work Visa to start with and because my missus is Canadian she can sponser me after a year. so this method will work for me. As far as Insurance, I have been to the local Autopack and they seem to think that you can transfere your no claims, this will give you 25% off, which is the maximum discount. Got a quote for my Z and was $1125CAD about 490 pounds. here are some Numbers that may be of help to you, dialing code for Canada is 001 Manitoba Autopac 985-7000 (not sure of No for Alberta) Customs 1800 461 9999 Transport Canada 1800 333 0371 Hope this helps, Andy

Bye Bye Zeds ?
I'll start work out here begining of june also, and yes I plan to stay. Didn't realise your Z was so new, Mine is 13 years old so less of a problem, and i'm willing to take the risk, I'll only have to wait 6 months if they dont extend it past the 18 months period.(probably rebuild the engine or something) once 15 years old they will accept it. I do have a friend out here who's buddy works for vehicle registration, i'll have another chat with him see if there is any other loopholes. He also seems to think that you can carry over your no claims discount to the canadian insurance Autopack.(being a comonwealth) I agree the Z would not suit the winters, thats when you need a truck, But the summers are long and hot, Calgary has some awesome roads into the rockies, be a shame if you have to leave the Z behind. You could always swap the reg plate with the older Z  Andy

Bye Bye Zeds ?
Hi There bud, just been looking at some old threads and this one caught my eye. You out in canada yet? I'm in Winnipeg at the moment for the week, moving out here in may. looked into bringing my Z out and it can be done if it is 15 years old, however, if it is younger like mine you can bring it out and drive it as a uk car registered back in england for 18 months, this time can be extended if you apply and should be granted. TT's are rocking horse shit out here and get tons of respect especialy RHD jap spec. if you look at the local autotrader you can sell a mint one for $25k upwards, even RHD. will be hanging on to mine though. Will be moving to Vancouver next year, best roads in the world!! Where abouts in canada are you? Andy

Hesitation when hot
Hi Chewie Yeh, seems to be the mass air meter, just gave my conectors a good clean and she has been fine since, no diagnostic error, long may it continue!!!!!!!!! Andy.

Hesitation when hot
Just run an ECU check, Codes 12 (Mass air flow), 13 (Engine coolant Temp) & 21 ( Ignition signal circuit PTU) Been messing around with the PTU and temp switches, would that throw up an error? if thats the case is it likely the hesitation could be down to the Mass air flow circiut? However when I was playing with the temp sensor the engine started hesitating. Confused!! :headvswal

Hesitation when hot
Hi All I have a 90TT import which is suffering with extreme hesitation/spluttering when hot. Car runs fine when cold, but as soon as the temp reaches normal running condition it will completely loose power on all cylinders, then violently kick back in, it will drive for a while until the condition worsens and cuts out. Once cooled down she is fine again. Have read through some other threads and problem seem to indicate towards PTU. However I changed it for a know good one today and no improvement. Also noticed that she has been smelling of fuel when cold recently but could not find a leak Any other ideas would be much appreciated. Cheers Andy

Noisy Cambelt
Have just completed a cambelt change on the Z for the first time. Bought the kit from Courtesy including new tensioner, pulleys etc. I followed the tensioning instruction according to the TTnet procedure. I.e. 4mm gap on tensioner after 2 rotations. Now I assume the preload on the tensioner is correct and checked by Nissan? Is there a more precise way of checking the actual belt tension? Once reassembled the engine now seems to produce a slight whirling sound which suggest to me maybe the belt is too tight, I have eliminated all auxiliaries and fan. Car has done 100 miles since belt change. If this whirling sound is a common thing that goes away after a little running, I’m not too concerned. I don’t want to completely strip down the front end to check the tension if there is no need to. Cheers Andy

99/00 Version R
I asume that the ESVA is something new? is it an extesnsion of the old SVA? sure my current Z was only 8 years old when it came into the country? must be a loophole somewhere!!!
