To warrant or not to Warrant, that is the question??
Bob, I have thought about this mate but the box is still quite new, seems silly to convert just yet...although I could sell mine I spose.....my box has got to be worth £500 still surely, cost me over double that!! I dont think the box is knackered, I think its just the Torque converter...... Greg, thats my feeling mate, it really shouldnt have gone so soon...... Come on guys, more opinions please....before I phone them today...

To warrant or not to Warrant, that is the question??
Guys, In March 2003, VMTP supplied and fitted a Torque Converter for my Z32 TT Auto box. It now seems as though it is on its way out, when the car is placed in to 'N' or 'P', theres a right racket coming from the bell housing(had the car on a ramp). Now, I have been advised it could be the TC or it could be the Drive plate (whatever this is?). In August last year, VMTP also rebuilt my gearbox (Yeah I have all the bad luck!!) so wouldnt that have had to take the torque convertor off again?? Basically, I have booked the car in with them for the 1st of October, but I really dont want another huge bill from them, not when I have already spent nearly £2K with them. So you think that they are liable for this problem?? I have only done just over 2000miles since it was fitted and I aitn running huge amounts of power!! When I phoned the guy, his comment was 'God, those 300zx Autoboxes are a pain in the ass with the amount of power they push out'. BUT, arnt they supposed to take it???? I am going to call them tomorrow and see where I stand with them before I drop the car off? Do u think they are liable?? :( I just want you opinions please guys and gals! :(

Right, lets go as I am undecided! AUTO V's Manwell
Thats the kinda reply I was looking for, thanks Andy. Well how come my torque convertor has got noisy within a year and about 1,500 miles??? Doesnt make sense to me? Not very happy about this, is this common? :nono: I am thinking Manwell is better personally.....

Right, lets go as I am undecided! AUTO V's Manwell
Macca, I take it the SE Option is an Auto and takes out all the complex rubbish?? Or is it even more complex but more reliable?
-
Right, lets go as I am undecided! AUTO V's Manwell
I know it has and I have searched BUT I am asking if it is as simple as what I have put. I am not interested which is the best, I just want someone to tell me whether the Autobox is complicated and more prone to issues (more things to go wrong) than what the manwell box is?? I like both, but I am thinking of changing because of how complex the autobox? Can I have a YAY or a NEIGH if I am correct about the complexity?:D

Right, lets go as I am undecided! AUTO V's Manwell
Guys, I thought about this the other day. Last year I had a new torque convertor and Gearbox supplied and fitted by VMTP, excellent it was, but now, it seems as though the Torque Convertor is getting noisy?!? Well the noise is coming from that area anyway? Its going back to VMTP on the 1st of October.... Back to my point, The auto box needs an ECU, Oil Cooler, Oil pump etc etc etc etc whereas the Manwell box just needs a clutch, release bearing, plate or am I missing something? It just seems that the Auto box has so many things that can go wrong with it when the manwell is dead simple....It also seems that the manwell gives u better fuel economy and control of the cars revs  I am sure I am either going to be corrected or backed up by Manwell owners, so come on guys, whats the story?.....morning glory?

I havent sold them, there still yours. :duffer: I was talking to Andy on saturday, he popped into Kwik Git where me brother now works  and he was telling me you've got to change the rear brake pipes which means you gotta remove the whole rear subframe or somet like that?!? And you got low compression on two cylinders?!? Not good, but if you need a hand, I am more than willing to help, not that I know what I am doing but am willing to learn. So does it look like the meet next thurs is gonna be at Route 46?
