My 300zx... what's it worth
...if I only did 4000 miles a year I'd buy it from you... but I do 18k - and I've just fitted full leather into my NA to help me maintain interest and not trade the car in for another... My mate Charlie needs one as a summer car - he's on hols at the moment - I'll try and sell it to him when he gets back in a couple of weeks - if it's still for sale...

not enough respect for a supercar!!!
...my 2ps worth - the car never stood a chance when it was introduced as it was up against a raft of established (well badged and marketed) European sports cars. We are snobs when it comes to cars - ie if its red it's got to be a Ferrari, Porsche are best and exotic cars only come from Europe. Therefore the 300Z was never going to make it. Even now if you read ''classic'' magazines, the Z never gets a look in. It totally infuriates me, and I console myself in the knowledge that all of these guys who ignore it don't know what they are missing, and I revel in the fact that it's as rare as rocking horse. I have a (personal) need to be different (I'm a car snob) and the 300Z does it for me. ...long live the Z. cheerz Jack

just done this website about fuel saving
If what it says is true, them I'm interested, it boasts a 10% increase in power and 70% better emissions, so if I remove the cats from my NA I should have a sizeable increase in power - and it costs £99 and they said it lasts for 30,000 miles... Got to be worth a go. ...any one got any experience of this product? I believe it's been out in Canada for a few years.. cheers Jack http://www.ctech3000.com/

blown engine
...scrap yard in Ipswich has one 93 uk car (just got the leather from it). From memory - didn't look too close - most of the engine was there, some parts missing. I would have thought that you could combine the 2 to make one good one and have loads of spares left over. Mind you, you'd have to be keen, ie broke and have lots of spare time to undertake the task...

blown engine
...head gasket gone between an oil passage way and a cylinder - trust me I'm a doctor... not really, just old... Ask the question what would cause the dipstick to be blown out... It's the main clue...

blown engine
...head gasket would be my first choice... good luck Jack

Great day at TSC4!
Pete was scary. Sat in line waiting for his turn, smoking the rear tyres, and carrying a passenger... Very cool. I'm bias, but it looked like the only competition he had was from the Norris Evo and a couple of skylines. It was an excellent day, very informal, good people to talk to, from all over the country, and some useful contacts. ...and the black Z with the purple nose should have won a prize... cheerz Jack

Fitting Fiberglass spoiler
I did tailgate recently - removed old spoiler, bought infill panel from Luke and filled and painted the tailgate. Bought aerosol paint from car trade paint supplier as well as laquer in an aerosol. Painted it (first time I've really done this - apart from the odd touch-up) and the result had a pronounced orange peel effect. I don't know if it's my lack of experience or it's what you get with aerosols. Anyway, I bought some paint finishing paste from Halfords that removed most of the orange peel... Boot lid looks great, different colour, but great... good luck Jack

...thermostat not opening? Sunday at the airstrip - there's something called top speed challenge? - setting up a drag strip, £10 to spectate £30 to take part (has to be pre-paid) and a burger van so I'm told... I'm sure you'd be there but hey, sailing round the Canaries hast to take prescedent.

Fitting Fiberglass spoiler
John ...you ask too many questions... The holes can be filled - use glass resin, you'll need to spread it out a little inside the tailgate skin - then fill in the usual manner. Paintings easy, match the paint to the colour code on the body identifiication plate under the bonnet, and finish off with a top coat of laquer. It won't match as you paint has changed colour with age, but it'll be close. Hardest part is getting rid of the orange peel effect... good luck Jack

Stu ...water pump bearing seals pack up and you loose the water or the shaft breaks and the belts flap about. I'd say it's an electrical connection. You've left it sitting in the garage too long... good luck Jack ...going to Woodbridge on Sunday?

Interior re-trim

...as always - good thinking. Many Thanks. If I ever get round to doing it I'll let you know how I get on. cheerz Jack

spring lengths
Willie ...so at 5mm you wouldn't bother? As I said tyre wear is even, it's just that when I look at the car, I can see it sat down on one side. And if it's easy, I might as well do it as I like ''fixing the car''. Is it simply the application of a spring clamp, and job's done? or is there something more complicated? many thnaks Jack

spring lengths
...nice one. ...all I'm waiting for now is the suggestion to get a fat bird in the passenger seat - for a few years. cheerz Jack
-
spring lengths
...after 13+ years of someone sitting in the drivers seat (Jap NA) it looks like the drivers side springs (front and back) are shorter than the passenger side springs - by about 5 mm. Question is, how difficult is it to change springs from left to right. Cars fine etc, no uneven tyre wear, just thought I'd get my money's worth from the springs... Any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks Jack

Upper link arm
John ...interesting thread you've got going here. On a simple remedy note, I found the silicone spray (Halfords yellow can) most usefull. Spray the shock absorber under the bellows, around the top and bottom mounting points and inside the engine bay where the shocks are bolted. Cured my (cars) creaking and groaning - which incidentally is an NA. On the question of poly bushes and white grease, they are supplied with white grease to aid assembly - as far as I can remember. I'd spray all metal to rubber to polywhatever with the silicone spray a couple of times each year - keeps it all lube'd-up - works with my car... good luck Jack
